Wow. This is what modern society has turned comics into. Everyone is a victim.
>>
>>83152291
Yeah. I warned you that the comic is pretentious woman venting in. But that's not why I storytimed it. I am really surprised that they were allowed to introduce a new mutant, albeit they did dance around calling her a "mutie"
>>
>>83151486
>Apparently the embargo for introducing new MUTANTS is over
Was it EVER in place? I've seen no actual proof of this outside of Rumor Rich going "trust me guys, there's a conspiracy going on and here's some clickbait to 'prove' it."

All the x-books have been consistently introducing new characters since AvX ended.
>>
>>83152562
Lol, you don't think that such thing would be official?
Still, Claremont mentioned that creating new mutants was a huge no-no. People misquote him as saying that creating mutants was forbidden (because sensationalism), but what Claremont said is that marvel doesn't want to promote characters that would be used by Fox.

Anyway, it's the first new mutant introduced outside of x-book after AvX, and that says a lot. How long time ago AvX happened?
>>
>>83152165
Is the news feed an edit. Also those hero tees are really poorly added like holy crap they are bad.
>>
>>83152655
I feel like the writer has some issues, t b h
I think that she is aware that no one reads the book, so she just inserts whatever she wants.
It's a silent cry for help
>>
>>83151486
Do people care about Mockingbird?
>>
>>83152064
>Dick Profit
Holy shit this woman has problems.
>>
>>83152698
>I think that she is aware that no one reads the book, so she just inserts whatever she wants.
Well that's exactly what happened with Angela: Queen of Hel, so at least this book is actually decent. Queen of Hel was fucking horrible.
>>
>>83152650
cont. and let me tell you more, even during decimation, we had a new mutant introduced, during dark reign (melter, or whatever was his name). and you know, back then mutants were decimated to 198 folks. After 2012 however, you can feel that something wrong was going on.

From 12 x-books per month, it dropped to like 6? Not that it's a bad thing, but marvel is not known for being reasonable. If they have a cash cow, they ride it to death.

>>83152733
lol, no. I don't care about her. I only storytimed it because of the new mutant
>>
>>83152774
Yeah. Frankly, I wonder if she did it on purpose so some x-fag would hype it. This book sells like shit.
>>
jesus christ

there's not worse feeling than reading a comic that clearly has potential to be yet is saturated with bullshit
>>
>>83152733
Wow I could've sworn this book was running for months.
Apparently Issue 2 is selling 30k. Not horrible but it'll only go down from here.
>>
>>83152378
Ten bucks says they'll retcon her into being an Inhuman who got their awakening delayed.
>>
This is probably the worst comic I've read all year. The first two issues weren't so horrible.
>>
>>83152869
One thing that made this book dead on arrival was writer admitting in interviews that it will be inspired by the tv series and that the tv lore would overtake the comic book one. Just like you have the tagline on Agents of Shield saying "comic book inspired by the tv show" rather than
"comic book that inspired the tv show".

>>83152884
it's all possible. however, had this been the case, they would just do it already. not only that, they would include that in the solicits with the caps. it feels like this was something sneaked behind the editors (and we know how much marvel editors suck). like some other anon said, probably did it for the buzz.
>>
>>83152923
You can't say you weren't warned.
I mean really, "women are oppressed"?
Frankly, Freud would have a field day with the "dick envy" that this issue has.
>>
>>83152998
The angry news guys name was Dick Profit.
>>
>>83152923
Also I liked the art and coloring in this issue but the writing sucked, never getting any thing by this woman again.
>>
>>83153051
Yup. How blatant can you get. At the beginning there is the line that she missed the y-chrosome.
Seriously, the writer dreams about having a penis.
Freud said that women want to have kids, because kids are a substitute for the lack of penis. I thought that Freud was insane, but I feel like he was right. Just like Cyclops.

Fuck Jung.
>>
>>83152998
I actually bought the first two out of curiosity, hoping it may be a hidden gem, fuck
>>
>>83153275
Nobody's perfect anon. I also made mistakes in my life. For example, I trusted my friend when he told me that these pills were good for cough.

I woke up with the head in the toilet with a pencil in my anus. Next time, I said no, when he offered me the pills.

The idea of a young mutant holding his friend in a bubble she don't control is good.

The power of color alteration for chemical element is a good idea too.

Art is in the middle tier of what Marvel do, but nowadays marvel art of pulled really low by Squirrel Girl. So it doesn't mean much.

With a few rewrite it could have been an average issue.

An example of rewrite Marvel whoudl ahve done:

+First page where she want to an heroine is legit funny.
-But we reach the y chromosome part. It is insulting and inacurate. The Avengers had the wasp in the team since days one.

+"Proving yourself in a world of men" could have been a good idea.
- But here it is just "MEENNN!!!" Female heroine, at least in universe are respected. I don't remember a male heroine being misogist to a female hero.
- Instead of writing about sexism, why not show the more successfull marvel woman like Maria hill or She Hulk?

+ Misoginist reporter could have been a good angle. Calling him Dick Profit is a step really far. Killing him in the end is to much. it just turn the young mutie into a murderer. Saving him instead is heroism and he could or not have a chance of heart. Here he is a strawman. Give him a past, or make him concerned by the well being of these girl. Here he is just a dick.

+ Having one T-shirt girl power is OK.
- Having all t-shirt with girlie book? Too much.

+ Hostage negociation with a Six grade girl being hard? Good idea. After all teen are dicks.
Sending a female hero to talk and inspire is a good idea too.

+ Sun coming out to evaporate the raibow. Good point.

- Can't continue reading this shit.
- No proper conclusion.
>>
>>83152733
I cared when she was banging Clint.
>>
>>83155006
You're obviously right. I really don't understand why there is so malice towards men in some women. Nobody's perfect, but really, reaching that hard? I wonder how do these women imagine a perfect world? Or equality?
>>
>>83152125
>>83152165
is there a page missing? is that the resolution? 2 people are dead, Mockingbird is cancelled already isn't it? This feels like Angela where the writer just quit midway through issue 3.
>>
>>83155265
That shocked me too. What happen next?
Obviously, the girl is a killer. A super powered underage killer. How do you deal with that? She got all agreviating circonstance.
>>
>>83155265
that's the rip I got. Either someone goofed, or it really is that abrupt. But judging from the page count it's legit ending

I am, however, amused that Howard the Duck is on the Juice Box
>>
>>83157689
>Might destroy planets
If only it was a joke...

>>83157733
Didn't even notice. Good eye
Poor artist, though. Working with such a script.
today, there was also a giveaway comic by marvel about the dangers of hurricane.
"Ready Girl" (lol)
Still, the heroine was a great role model, and the whole short comic felt much better than this
>>
>>83157716

See now you're being retarded in the other direction

We've had plenty of instances of women writing comics without being bull blown batshit crazy about it. This author is a psychopath, that doesn't mean women are psychopaths.
>>
>>83152378
I thought it was just your regular Marvel pretentiousness.
This is ADVANCED PRETENTIOUSNESS. Body discharges, The War on Teenage Girls, STEM cunnilingus - it's like Salon Bingo. I'm not sure the hard confirmation of a single mutant was worth reading this.
>>
>>83157799
Of course it doesn't. It's just that we don't have balance. Those who could write a good book with females, are in minority. And frankly, most of times, for some reason, women are venting. Hard

Why? I don't know.

>>
>>83158233
I wanted to say "STEM fellation", but I thought "cunnilingus" would be more appropriate.
>>
>>83158266

and >>83151902
still, it's a massive step.
and if she isn't mutant, then what she is?
if she was an inhumeme, it would be spelled out

the fact that the word mutant is danced around sort of proves.

I mean, suddenly, she gets power (no mists involved). She's 12 year old, so a little before puberty, however it's explicitly said that she matured a little too early. What more proof do you need?
>>
>>83158324
I guess I see what you mean.
And it is pretty common for people to vent in their work when it's about to end. Sometimes it can be fascinating in addition to being indulgent, but not always.
>>
>>83152064
>>83152092
I would have taken the shot at that point. She's a killer who killed two men, one of which was just doing his job holding a camera. Mockingbird's plan at this point would put everyone in the area at risk.
>>
>>83158447
I would go as far and say that it's a trainwreck.
The best part? It would be a good issue, if the writer wasn't so frustrated. She really sounds helpless, and it's fucked up that she tries to make it up in fiction. Think about it.
>>
>>83158488
Who wouldn't? But in the end it's not unrealistic.
In Brazil, country known for police brutality, you have accidents like this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bus_174
>>
>>83158439
The actual word mutant would help. There is no age limit on terrigen and bobbi saying I'm not a mutant doesn't confirm anything. It's not like the word mutant is banned. If she turned out to be a the result of a lab experiment or Inhuman it wouldn't conflict with anything.
>>
>>83158683
Probably. But I guess that it's as close as it gets.
I was a little too ecstatic, when I storytimed it, because I hoped that this petty war ended.

But maybe you're right. I wonder if I should delete the thread, as to not accidentally bait other anons into reading this. Then again, I'm not sure if I can, because there is a time limit within you can delete your own post.
>>
>>83151715
Is this supposed to be a parody of itself?
>>
>>83158856
No, and that's the saddest part. I mean, you can laugh it, you can hate it, but you should actually feel pity.
>>
>>83158489
This is probably the first time I've read a screed like this that wasn't baked into a shitty story. There's nothing bad about the way the story is told or set up (except for the short reactions to confirmed, intentional kills, which is offputting) - it just chafes. It's unusual. It's like this issue embodies every defense people made for books like Spider-Woman or All-New Thor, except that it's actually true here.

>>
>>83163835
Oh, I still read through it, and I actually just find it baffling that the first page wasn't the odd one out in political transparency but instead it carried on relentlessly throughout the entire issue. It's kind of incredible how much they crammed into this issue without actually saying anything. Like, maybe this is less insidious than just keeping the political angle entirely subtextual and marketing to children but it's just interesting how politically masturbatory published comics have become.
>>
>>83151486
I didn't enjoy reading this issue. Which is fine, because it's not really geared towards me. It's geared towards progressive activists looking for the next strong female character to push. And issues 1 and 2 were such fun.

Also, how the fuck are those 5 idealized heroes at the same time? Namor was never one, and Cap + Android Human Torch were WW2. Unless that Fantastic Four/Avengers which BOTH HAVE WOMEN ON THEIR TEAMS. Same problem with O5 X-Men, compounded with the question of who the fuck was idealizing mutants

Hey, so, this is the fucking nightmare of anyone who actually practices BDSM; your partner leaves you tied up, fucks off without your permission, and then, what? Isn't there to help when your too-tight bonds give you nerve damage? Forgets to lock the door and someone else enters to find you at their mercy? Gets hit by a bus and leaves you to die of dehydration?

Who wrote this shit?

Peter David's Captain Marvel.
Joe Casey's Automatic Kafka

This is not unusual in comics and often it ends with the writers own insecurities about the situation rise to the forefront. Also my god the continuity in this is bad. Why does Cyclops have two eyes?

Snarky "take THAT" feminism always come across as kind of desperate, IMO, and this issue was that wall to wall.

Plus it kinda drops the larger narrative with Bobbi seemingly going nuts in favour of "Men, AMIRITE LADIES" jokes.
>>
>>83190922
The first guy didn't get killed because "men are eeeeevil" but to show that the girl is dangerous (and, I guess, that teen girls can get vicious when you try to hurt their friends). Bobbi even tries to stop her because she's going too far.
As for the reporter and cameramen, I read them as stereotypical media vultures, not as "evil men to kill for their maleness".

So either this issue is meant to be taken seriously and straight, in which case it's confusing and terrible, or it's supposed to be part of a larger story with little hints here and there, in which case it's also confusing and terrible but part of something that's even MORE confusing and terrible.
>>
>>83193114
I actually think it's intended to be a positive - she couldn't save the news chopper but she redeemed herself a few minutes later by saving those girls, then the "I need a drink" line is meant to be light and comedic, in line with the lines the girls have in the same panel.

Now, that's a fucking retarded angle, but I think it's pretty clear that's what they did.
>>
>>83152165
>talking about Black Cat like it's for teenage girls
So little girls talk about criminal lords like they are celebrities now?
>>
>>83193355
This series so far has been confusing and weird, intentionally. So it's definitely more the latter.
Something is being built towards.

But that still doesn't really excuse this issue's Sarcastro grade feminism.
>>
>>83193550
>Something is being built towards
But is it something good?

I'm inclined to say no, because if it were, the buildup itself would be good. The buildup is shit.

Also the book's getting canceled no later than issue 12 (I haven't seen the solicits so I don't know, maybe it's already canceled) so I'm sure the writer's grand vision is gonna get fucked due to time constraints anyway.

This issue was just so confusing, not even the feminism. I don't even care about that bit, it's the rest of the issue that just seems like the writer wants to do David Lynch but doesn't understand why Lynch's stuff works.

Huh, and I was actually enjoying the series up until now. Welp, dropped, like everything else from Marvel that isn't Tom King.

I've stopped reading so many books from them, one by one, that I don't even feel of twinge of regret for not following it.
>>
>>83152783
>From 12 x-books per month, it dropped to like 6? Not that it's a bad thing, but marvel is not known for being reasonable. If they have a cash cow, they ride it to death.

That's exactly the point. In 2012 they suddenly had a vastly more popular property of their own to play with because of the Avengers, and on top of that, they knew they were getting Star Wars too. You might say "but they can just release these books in addition to the X-Men titles and make even more" but that's because you've never even worked a register. Stores have limited space; online sales and digital haven't taken off for any comic book publisher anything like well enough to justify order-only titles at a lower sales threshold than they're already pegged to for store orders.

tl;dr the stores wouldn't order everything and the least popular books - as judged by what's actually selling in the movies right now - would be the ones to suffer, so you'd end up making a loss just producing them, which you'd then have to offset against the profits you made from the more popular titles.

>From 12 x-books per month, it dropped to like 6?

Just looking through the Diamond 300 at random:

Feb '14: Wolverine #1+#2, Wolverine & X-Men 41+42, Savage Wolverine #15, X-Men Legacy #24, Marvel Knights X-Men #4, All New X-Men #23, Uncanny X-Men #17, X-Men #10.NOW, +#11, Amazing X-Men #4, Wolverine Origin II #3, X-Force #1, Deadpool #23+#24, All-New X-Factor #3 (#1 also makes a reappearance due to variant sales). So early 2014, 17 X-Men/Deadpool titles a month (plus Fantastic Four #1). Which is actually up from that drop you perceive after the 2012 high, right?

Let's look at Feb '16: There's 6 Deadpool titles in the top 300 alone. Seriously. So I guess that's probably pushing out some other X-books. Though there's still 5 X-Men titles in the top 300, but only 2 Wolverine books. So I guess that's only 13 titles instead of 17. Plus any crossover issues.

Were you born dumb or did you work for it?

Holy shit. And aren't the SJW comics selling really poorly? Why is Marvel still doing this if it makes them NO MONEY??
>>
>>83151486
The only reason this issue has problems is because the wrong superhero showed up. Spider-Man could've dealt with in a minute, either by making a safety web under the bubble and taking down the girl OR just talking to her.

The whole "I'm as good as any superhero!" thing Mockingbird keeps going on about it's kind of moot when she left two people die when there's a grocery list of other heroes who could've done a better job.
>>

That's jumping to a lot of conclusions. Occam's razor this shit; it's just a strawman for men not thinking women can handle power
>>

So I have accept the stupid premise that none of the adults in this scenario know how to speak with a little child, because she's a girl.

>>
>>83223387
As the father of a 15 year old daughter, I can attest to how bullshit this premise is, but I doubt the author has or will reproduce to put that to the test
>>
>>83223421
hell I grew up with a younger sister all my life, and she has anxiety issues. So trust me I learned a lot about females and mood swings, but of course this book doesn't take something like that into consideration
>>
>>83223421
One thing must be said, though: the author explicitly states, through Bobbi, that it isn't having a Y-chromosome that makes you an hero, but having (figuratively) balls.

...it still doesn't make sense for Bobbi to try and get powers that way given she's as old as Clint and they are slightly older than Peter...
>>
>>83151570
Si if we are taking this asanine timeline for whatever the hell it is, let's consider the following female heroes that should be in existence
Susan Storm
Janet Pym
Ms Marvel (apparently according to her lunch box)
Kitty Pride (I presume at this point she joined the X-men because of the Ms Marvel lunchbox)
Jean Grey
>>
>>83223559
however accorinding to the first panel alone apparently Spider-Man was a thing when she was a kid. This would make her younger than both Peter and Clint, and that doesn't make sense
>>
>>83223595
Wait, yeah. She owned a Ms Marvel lunchbox but she didn't think there were any female superheroes?
>>
>>83223637

>Also, she has almost Cho-level Super Math, super soldier serum AND infinity formula in her veins and she "doesn't have powers and have to try harder"?
clearly it's because of the patriarchy and because she is a woman, or some bullshit excuse to make her seem oppressed
>>
>>83223714
I miss the days when editors at Marvel actually looked over scripts and said "this makes no fucking sense, rewrite it until it does"
>>
I posted this in the other thread last night, but there's a reasonable chance all this crazy shit is a result of Bobbi's increasing paranoia as a side effect of the Super Soldier Serum/Infinity Formula thing
