Being able to relate isn't what makes characters likeable, look at Darth Vader. He's SUPER EMOTIONLESS for all but like 15 minute, but he's one of the most loved villains in fiction in the west

Darth Vader has plenty of emotions, they're just not super obvious because of the mask.

ESB was Vader desperately searching for his long lost son, that seems pretty emotional to me.
