The thing about going God Tier is that it's unclear how players are supposed to know about it. Presumably it's something that's hidden in the lore of the land. Either way, it's an optional power boost, and Sburb seems to be balanced around few to none of the players getting it.

Think about this: in the timeline that Davesprite came from, after spending quite some time grinding, with the express intent of learning as much about the game as possible, neither Rose nor Dave learned about God Tier. It's THAT well hidden a mechanic.

I think it could pickup fans again in the wake of Hiveswap if it was good enough. It would act as a much easier entry into the Homestuck franchise than just committing to reading the story itself. I mean, think about the people who just skipped right to the trolls, they're the kind of fans that'd be drawn in by an easy to play video game with a story, just like Undertale.

Although I can't think of a franchise that has gone through a successful revitalization like that, any examples you can think of for references sake?

Ah that's a good one, there's always a hard core group of people for most game franchises but I can imagine a game like that having one of the unique fandoms attached to it in light of increased popularity.

You're probably right about Homestuck though, the damage has been done and it'd take an exceptional showing from Hiveswap to make a significant interest return. I do think it's a possibility for a large portion of the Undertale lot to latch onto it if it's good, given they've burnt through all their content months ago and it'll likely be a while before whatever next project Toby Fox works on to be complete.
