I'm not sure what exactly you mean with the intro being rushed but who says it ends with Gem Drill? It's likely they're going to bubble it put it on a break for now. I could be wrong though

How is it badly timed? I like how we have something rather lighthearted in all of these pretty tense episodes, but even so it still progresses the plot as well. This is pretty much the start of YD and Homeworld going back to invading the earth. Sure those rubies won't be very threatening, but why would they send their best soldiers already when they believe it's only to take care of some 'detective' Peridot? Also Garnet or Ruby to be specific, does this for good reasons. 1. Infiltration, trying to find out about their mission goals 2. Keeping Peridot out of sight

Tl;dr it seems you're drawing conclusions to easy. I too could be wrong about some things I'm speculating here but we haven't seen the episodes as whole yet. Why getting upset about it already?
