We've been constantly on Peridot/Cluster experiments/The Cluster for a long time now, with the only real break from it being small things like Sadie's Song and Steven's Birthday.

Gem Drill seems to be a direct confrontation with the Cluster, and it's followed by

In Too Deep is almost certainly a cap on the whole Cluster/Malachite business to finally give the show room to breath and go back to the comfy shit for a while.

YD likely won't figure out the Cluster was stopped for a while and just keep sending smaller drones.
When she finally realizes something's really wrong, she'll send the Gemyu Force/a more elite force to deal with shit. She herself is not leaving her empire for however many days the space travel takes for Earth.

My best bet is that if Pyramid Gem is White Diamond, that they'll be able to get her to their side or something, making it Best Diamond & Steven vs Blue/Yellow.
Alternatively, they could have a time where they go to Homeworld and incite another Rebellion, closer to home.

Mattel was literally funding the animation costs because they wanted to sell toys, not that other shit. What character has such a strong desire to enter the home of Steven Universe? What characters are not allowed there? Peridot was there during the last bomb. Lapis has an entire ocean right next door. And if it were Jasper, why would Steven challenge a gem created for extreme physical ability to sports? Does he WANT her to come inside? Like is this his plan to redeem all gems? Appealing to Jasper's ego and making her think she's the victor despite falling for his ruse?
