I'm planning on going on a back issue spree at my LCS and I was thinking of reading Punisher stuff. I just want to ask how common it is for him to teamup with other characters in his books. Why do they choose to work with him if he kills a lot? Does he also have super good aim, like Hawkeye but with guns, or is it just more believable, grounded marksmanship?

Also, if you have any favorite issues or runs, I'll look for them next time I go browsing.

The six-issue River if Blood arc in Punisher War Zone (l think) , by Chuck Dixon and Joe Kubert is a must. Also The Tyger one-shot by Ennis and John Severin.

Honestly, there's no right or wrong way to start with The Punisher. his first appearances are kinda weird, where he's written as more of a weirdo, and he's had some bad runs over the years, but odds are you could start anywhere. Chuck Dixon and Greg Rucka are two writers I'd recommend.

A lot of people will tell you to just read Garth Ennis' stuff. Now, Ennis really gave Frank a good shot in the arm, but he's not the be-all and end-all, and even Ennis wrote some stinkers; the very last issue of his Marvel Knights run was just one big load of THE CHARACTER I'M WRITING IS BETTER THAN THESE CHARACTERS I'M NOT WRITING BECAUSE SHUT UP (Ennis has a pretty big hateboner for most superheroes).
