What do you think the nation Zootopia is in looks like? What are the the political power blocks?

Hell, what about that small town on the opposite side of the bay? Is it just a suburb, or was it the original settlement?
>>
>>81992069
Racist as fuck. Zootopia is a special place where predator and prey get along... The rest of the world isn't as progressive.
>>
Have the crew said anything about other cities? If Zootopia is supposed to be the New York or London of its world, then what's the Los Angeles or Paris?
>>

I'm still curious what the other districts they didn't mention in the film are, they said there were 13 and i don't think we even saw half

The point of theocalized reporter animals is that Zoootopia is THE major city. It's the only one and it's the place where peace was made.

They haven't.

I like to believe Zootopia is very small enclave of advanced technology and culture in a largely savage world. Yes I know the container ships pretty much disprove this but I still like it
>>
>>81992172
Nah, those two ships on the lefthand side are big ocean-going ships; one of them looks to be an oil tanker. They're probably located in some giganticass fjord or something.

>>
>>81992317
It's an incredibly Earth-like planet with a lot of Earth species (and not just animals and plants -- likely all six kingdoms), so my best bet is that it's just a fictional Earth in a fictional setting.

The natural climate of the area (i.e. the ones without climate control; the main area of the city and the outer boroughs) leads me to believe it's located somewhere between Dfb (warm summer continental) and Cfb (warm summer temperate) on the Köppen climate classification. Essentially just the typical climate of a northeastern United States or central/eastern European city.

With a population of over 81 million and being 211 miles away from Zootopia, I'd think Bunnyburrow would be a fairly major city. Or maybe that's the population of Bunnyburrow State.
>>
>>81992540
>>81992540
I heard reptiles and birds have their own cities/nations.

I like to think bats live in the Zootopian equivalent of Japan with tanuki 'n' shit, off the coast of the Roostian land mass.

Reptiles are probably only recently beyond isolationist policies and are still intimidating to most Zootopians. I mean, a lone crocodile could tear apart Zootopia's police chief.
>>
>>81992512
Actually, on second thought, it's probably not as much of a continental climate as I initially thought. Classification Dfb is where non-temperate coniferous/mixed coniferous forests begin to appear, so it might be Dfa at the most. Leaning a bit more towards Cfb, though.

>inb4 autism
>>
>>81992663
I wouldn't be surprised if Bunnyburrow was actually mostly underground in warrens.

So I plugged "ズートピア" into Youtube's search box and found new things.

This clip features a trip to LA and a bunch of people (including Byron and Rich) talking in English. So it's kinda followable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHfwIKL9oB8
This one has the Japanese dub of the police academy scene through the graduation scene.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6Lr6pHM7p0
They made another Dream Ami version of Try Everything. This time everyone's wearing those animal costumes again.

Also, it seems McDonalds Japan totally dropped the ball. They launched a new line of Happy Meal toys last Friday and they're just generic Tomy toy cars and Sanrio characters, no Zootopia toys.

There's a difference in making the main character's model detailed and making separate models for every single background character.

If you look close enough, the guard wolves use the exact same models as the ZPD wolves. There's only so much work you can expect them to do.

What was up with Finnick, why he got shafted?

He was mostly disguised, the quick joke, another joke, and he helped Judy but that was like 5 seconds of screen time. I saw this movie couple of times and didn't find him in the crowd at the concert.

In previous draft he seemed to be a kind of dick, and he wore diaper, why would he do that? Adults wearing diapers are never dumny, i cringe at this kind of "joke".

He was supposed to be a deutoragonist or tritagonist to Nick as protagonist, he would be Nick's best friend, etc. When they scrapped the proto script, the shafted Nick to deutoragonist and Finnick to a joke character, as they needed Judy's "fish out of water" character to draw the audience in. I hope the two foxes get a more center role next film.

Probably a loose confederation of City States seeing as how independent Zootopia itself seems to be, and how massive. Tri-Burrow (which contains Bunny Burrow) is apparently another such state.

>Hell, what about that small town on the opposite side of the bay?
In old artwork, I believe, the islands and shores around Zootopia's peninsula were also parts of the greater city as a whole.

Though this was also back when Bunny Burrow was part of Zootopia.

Based on it's current size, if it is part of Zootopia still (seems likely) it's probably a bunch of upscale private residency communities.

>>81992159
in old maps, I think it was part of the main peninsula, though that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense and was probably scrapped. An underground district seems more reasonable.

>>81992274
best speculations I've heard are somewhere in Africa or the Great Lakes region. The Great lakes sort of match the geography a bit more, but it seems the default climate of Zootopia is "Savannah" given Central Savannah is the only district with a direct connection to Downtown without any walls or environmental controls between them.

At least apparent ones.
>>
>>81993150
It happens sometimes when there's a lot of blowback from coddling the younger child and the older child starts becoming problematic to get some attention. Typically happens with inexperienced parents.

Why?
It's beautiful. All light eventually fading to nothing. Yet for thousands of times longer than that light excited, things like black holes will slowly evaporate, eventually leaving nothing. And then that nothing will last for eons longer than the darkness before it. Dead, quiet, final.
Imagine getting to watch the last star die, or the last glowing ember of whatever is left finally be put out.
These are dreams anon, don't let them keep you up.

Also, cute rabbit.

And pleasure is an intrinisic good!
Anyway, I found Inside Out to be a far more phenomenological film than Zootopia. Zootopia was a film about practical pursuits, whereas Inside Out was ponderous, literally the opposite of superficiality. Not saying Zootopia was superficial at all, but that Inside Out was a better source for examining philosophies of our own inner lives. For me Sadness represents Examination, rather than just pain, which is why Sadness and Joy make for a richer pairing than Joy alone.
Does anyone have anything similar to say about Zootopia? I wonder if it goes beyond having delightful characters.

Byron said they're just friends as well, if you don't take Rich's word. Regardless, they both made the movie so...what they say goes, it's not like fan content or speculation, it's literally the creators.

I honestly wish one of them would just crack and say lol jk they actually were together by the concert at the end. This would only happen on April 1st though, and we're past that point. I still to this day think that rich/byron just flat out confirming that Nick and Judy are friends at the end of the film was a dumb move. It would've been funner to speculate and leave it 100% to fan interpretation than just flat out ruining that fun. I enjoyed their relationship more when I could guess and interpret scenes for myself with my own way to see their interactions rather than be flat out told "nah it's just friendly banter they're just friends :^)"

This is honestly a cute ship. They hated each other's guts as kids and grew to be friends after Gideon got gud and also professionals at their trades and sprouted feelings over time. Byron and Rich have both said there was "no romance" in the film.

There's a mass disagreement for the reasons I stated. Gays want their Gideon to be gay and nick x judy can't stand to see the bun hook up with anyone else.

The only ones that can see the ship as possible are those that don't have a massive hard on for judy x nick and are not homos. It's a totally legit ship, though it's obvious she's going to hook up with Nick, and that's perfectly fine. Gideon is fantastic though, I liked him turning into a total softie
>>
>>81994852
OH. You mean they just love each other as friends? Anon read what I said, the problem is that they were confirmed to be just friends, not letting us decide what they were ourselves. WE KNOW they love each other as just friends, this is known. We (read: I) wanted more.
>>
>>81994837
They say there's no romance in the movie which is technically true because neither Nick nor Judy make any attempts at moving their relationship beyond friendship, but this does not preclude those feelings from existing.
>>
>>81994772
At the end of the movie they are "Friends" doesn't mean Judy doesn't finger herself till her fingers bleed every night thinking of Nick.
Just wait till the sequel or whatever they are planning like the rest of us.
They know that romance sells and they did a damn good job setting one up.
>>

>>
>>81994875
Right, which falls right into "wait for the sequel" I never have any issues or doubts with them hooking up in the sequel, people all know it (probably) will happen, my gripe was not letting US decide what they were in the first film, they flat out just said "you are all wrong, there is no romance, only friends"

It's nice to know what the creators meant, but it would've been funner to let us interpret their relationship for ourselves and debate it endlessly as opposed to having it been confirmed as just friends

>doesn't mean Judy doesn't finger herself till her fingers bleed every night thinking of Nick.

I had to watch Airplane Versus Volcano because The Core wasn't on Netflix.

Lemme just put it this way: the opening of Airplane Versus Volcano says Kilauea in Hawaii has been "inactive for over thirty years", also it has a chain of volcanoes sprout up off the coast of Kuai apparently within hours without causing massive tsunamis or earthquakes.

Oh, and the solution at the end is to load up the plane with explosives and 9/11 the volcano.

I'm not making this up.

>>81995205
Except that makes some sense. Tundratown takes huge amounts of power to cool, and they dump the waste heat onto Sahara Square. Relatively realistic weather control though the heat and cold wouldn't propagate nearly as far as shown unless the surrounding air was basically not moving and the energy requirements are post scarcity Fusion level
>>
>>81995225
In The Core the Earths core ?stops spinning? which causes death ray solar flares to melt buildings, they restart the spinning with a nuclear weapon delivered in a manned craft
>>
>>81995210
I'd like ANYTHING of better quality (which would be pretty much anything) surpass Minions.

And Avatar.

>>81995205
Thing is, Tundra Town next to Sahara Square actually makes a surprising amount of sense. The wall that separates them is basically a massive air conditioner that blows cold air into the tundra town area and all the heat it absorbs it sinked out into Sahara Square.

Try feeling the air around the back of an active fridge or A/C and you'll see what I mean, imagine that scaled up and multiplied by maybe three.

imagine what that would do to the weather.
This massive hot plate next to a sub zero zone.

And unless they have have a massive magnetic frame like refrigerators do that runs all through the underground of the two parts of the city. Actually that sounds way better than a massive air conditioner. Maybe the wall is just auxiliary.
By it's self you would never be able to get such a even temperature control.

We're pushing 900mil revenue and the movie hasn't even released in Japan yet.

Less-successful Disney movies have gotten TV series and sequels. For example, Lilo and Stitch only made around 325 million worldwide, and yet it got two sequels, a TV series, and an anime in Japan.

Sequel is confirmed just by how much bank the movie is rolling.

The part where the 'do not avert your gaze' comic panel came from is one of the most harrowing berserk arc called the conviction arc. The conviction arc came after the movie/anime and is far more frightening and super-natural in athmosphere compared to the golden age or the children of faries arc.
If you want to know how conviction arc feel, then just play the Valley of defilement level on Demon Souls or Blight-town or New Londo in Dark souls. The athmosphere you are feeling on those levels is how the Conviction arc feels in Berserk.

Sorry for being slow, the guests are starting to pour in.

The bestseller would be either Mojito or Piña Colada. And lots and lots of Żubrówka shots. Good home brew beer is around 8 bucks for a litre here.

I think I will start taking notes. After a few months I should have some interesting results about some of you. And yes, a few weeks ago two of you were discussing Zootopia while waiting for your beer and it was clear we all read the same thread in the morning. You know who you are, nerds.

^This

People whine about the "main characters always hook up" cliche because often times it's pretty badly handled and you're just expecting it the whole time.

Nick and Judy actually work really well as >just friends and as such, everyone wants to see that continue into an actual romance.

I have this fanfic idea where its Zootopia in the future. There's a special police division where they handle criminals with weaponize nighthowlers. Just added Bellwether in the background and some dialogue. I might try to add more but for now I got to get something to eat. Anyway this is my take on the Zystopia debacle in where the table's are flipped and where the prey's are the one being downtrodden species. Instead of shock collars, I think it will be more fitting that the prey are stamped with electronic/shock ear tags that are clipped on their ears at birth. This serve three purpose, it can be easily seen by anyone and is handy to identify who is the individual by the serial number tagged on their ear, thus marking the prey as a prey species easily. Two it reminds them of their role in the grand scheme of life and that they are nothing more than cattle or something like that. Three, it shocks any prey who tries to go beyond the zone where they are stationed/allocated in, thus most zootopian prey are confined in the city. Judy is one of the few rare cases that is able to travel since she is an officer and has little more lee way than the other prey who are allotted to tedious and repetitive tasks etc etc

So yeah, autism in action.

Just.. regular finnick.
but that finnick was only for 5 seconds in the whole movie. Byron, Moore, Disney, do him some Justice. PLEASE!

i mean, in reality you don't know how finnick really is because he's on for 5 seconds. though i agree with the diaper one, no one should like that.

plus it's fanart, you're gonna get a range of types. it's interesting to see what echo of the artists there is in it. as much as i love finnick in any respect, if it was all 100% canon there'd be very little fanart and what there was would be kinda boring after a bit.

Yeah it kind of blows when someone doesn't like a movie just because of that. It's fine though. If someone doesn't get mad at pro police moments in the movie they'll probably find a different reason.
