He sees his son practically every day. He willingly sent him to live with the Gems so he could master his powers. It's like a much less distant version of sending your super-talented kid to a special boarding school.

Pearl may openly denigrate Greg (sometimes), but Garnet never does it to his face, and Amethyst totally loves him.

Neither Pearl nor Greg get much symapthy for being in love with Rose. Everyone felt like shit when Rose left. She was Amethyst's mother for centuries, Garnet's big mentor and closest friend for even longer, and Pearl's family/lover for even longer than that.

And she was with Greg for maybe a couple months/years. If your mother or big sister or ex-wife of 50 years died, how much consolation would you give to her boy toy boyfriend of a couple months who was just 1 out of possible hundreds.

Especially if he's the one that knocked her up with a kid that killed her in child birth and then shows up on your doorstep because he can't handle it.
