So are Spider and Daredevil friends in the 616 Universe? I'very only read Ultimate, so I'm not sure what their relationship is.
>>
>>81857414
no theyre lovers
>>
>>81857414
Yes, they were friends and frequent allies, although Dardevil found Spider-Man annoying ometimes. They even knew each others secret identities for a while. Until Spider-Man made everyone forget about his identity. And then Dardevil did the same thing.
But they're still friends.

Spider-Man is a mary-sue, he's friends with everyone.

Most of them in fact are. People just pick and choose which ones are based on whether or not they like them.

Speaking of which, is Waid's Daredevil any good? I've heard it's a revival of pre-Miller days, which could be good or bad.

Spider-Man is a mary-sue? Horrible things happen to him all the time. I wouldn't want to be the guy.
>>
>>81857669
He hates Deadpool.
>>
>>81858957
It's kind of pre- and post-Miller all at once. Matt cosmetically goes back to swashbuckling cheerful DD, but it's an act and the cracks begin to show pretty quick.
I got up to the issues in the 20s before I stopped reading comics for a while and haven't yet gotten caught up, but from the way I've heard people talk about Waiddevil it sounds like something happened that made people dislike it. I loved what I did read though.
>>
>>81857669
His only true friends in the superhero community are Matt Murdock and Johnny Storm. GTFO of here with "mary-sue" bull.
>>
>>81858966
1. A bunch of writers who have never really known what the X-Men are like beyond skewed internet mischaracterizations of them are writing them now.

2. Marvel is desperately trying to replace the X-Men with Inhumans. It's not working.

It's great. Succeeds in making Daredevil a bit lighter and more swashbuckling than it used to be Pre-Miller, but has that sweet, sweet depression we love to see Matt wallow in all the time, too. The characters are great, too. He makes The Spot a credible threat.

The ANAD run, where he has the sidekick reboots to pre-Miller.

I agree with Anon he's as Mary sue as you can get, he's been a member of every team ever, had every super-woman interested in him in some regard and he is friends with pretty much everyone. The only person in marvel who is anywhere near his level of Mary Sue is Wolverine.

It becomes really obvious when you read big global or universal events and those two are on teams with people vastly more powerful or important than them. They're literally only there to wank the fans off.
>>
>>81864658
Apologize, no
Treat him better and like him more, yes though he still gets on her tits
>>
>>81865038
I guess you can't be successful at anything if you're a fictional character without being called a mary sue.
>>
>>81864498
Bit surprising to see GR in anything these days
>>
>>81858431
Add "In 10/10 maks wet at first sight" to that list and he is pretty much what /co/ calls every chick a mary su.
>>
>>81865128
There's successful and then there's being involved in everything and everyone for no real reason.
>>
>Everybody loves Peter
That's not even remotely true, great majority of heroes find him annoying as fuck, even the girls who "fell" for him find him annoying once they spend enough time with him
>He's in every team
He's pretty experienced and powerful even though his powerset is nothing to brag about (except his spider-sense), it's just normal. This statement is wrong though, he's an FF and an Avenger, but he isn't an Inhuman, X-men, etc

Right now he's pretty Sue though, he's rich, everything goes fine, etc, but back when he was a photographer who could barely eat and pay rent, no, he was far from sue.

He also gets his ass handled to himself lots of times.
>>
>>81865388
I agree with you. I don't like that Spidey is everywhere. On all these teams and whatnot. I still hesitate to call him a "mary sue" but I still see your point.
>>
>>81858324
>>physical strength only really outmatched by Hulks and gods
And Rhino, and Ben Grim, and Venom, and Luke Cage, and tons of aliens, and Juggernauth, and a lot of mutants, and...well, you know what I mean
>>
>>81865588
He's teaching a class of x-men and leading them in missions himself.
If loads of people hate the guy explain why he teams up with the most people in marvel and is invited to the most crap?
>>
>>81865812
He's better on the street hanging out with DD and beating up his villains.
It makes sense that the avengers would want him since his powers are great and he's a pretty stand up guy, I just hate when he's a permanent member. The guy doesn't have the time for that shit, he's got school, a job and a secret identity.
>>
>>81865848
Because he's a guy who has been a hero for longer than most, he has experience that can teach to others.

Also, I guess because everybody likes me irl, and I try my hardest to be in good terms with everybody I know, I'm a sue?

Btw, Sues tend to be liked immediately and accomplish everything without any effort, Spider-Man puts a lot of effort, and still he isn't liked by everybody, majority of civilians think he's a menace, and majority of heroes find him annoying and don't want to spend time with him even if he's a good guy.
>>
>>81865818
Back in the sixties, marvel publish a ranking system for how strong its major heroes were in terms of strength. Spidey was 4th behind thor, the thing and the hulk.

Course that was years back

I always thought of them as best friends in costume. Really his best male "coworker" friend. Plus they monitored the same areas of New York in similar ways.
They both had the same angsty idea to pretended to kill their secret identities independently of each other's knowledge in the 90s then went off to fight crime together as the "Spider" and the "Devil" when they found out.
>>
>>81866090
Back in the 60s we had like 5% of the heroes we have now.

Also you mean this?
>>
>>81866219
I count more than 4 above Spidey
>>
>>81866045
He's an avenger, a member of the fantastic four and a teacher at the xavier institute. On top of that he buddies around with street level guys like DD and rubs elbows with big names like doctor strange. Litterally the only time he's not palling around with other heroes is when he's not spidey. As for the normal people hating him, thats just another bullshit way to make him different from your average hero by making him "misunderstood"

(Note that I do in fact like spiderman despite how I'm coming off right now)
>>
>>81865990
I can't tell ya how much I miss street-level Spider Man stories.
>>
>>81866372
DD is an avenger, a member of the fantastic four and hangs out with a lot of heroes.
Luke cage is an aveger, a member of the fantastic four and hangs out with a lot of hereoes.

And a big fucking etc, dunno, it's like the good guys were like friends with most of the other good guys, odd, right?
>>
>>81866219
>>81866272
Nah different thing I saw, it was bullshit anyway I think my scale was to give people more of an idea where cap fit in. I just remember it because spidey was unusually high on it
>>
>>81866219
>She-Hulk, Silver Surfer and Ghost Rider in the same level as Spidey
Pffhahahahaha
>>
>>81866448
But they weren't involved in big events like infinity war for no reason. And spidey has been a member of those teams way more times than those guys
>>81866407
They're so much more fun, it kinda ruins him when he's fighting thanos one week then the vulture the next.
>>
>>81864466
Was this Waid? I don't remember reading this one
>>
Mary Sue has lost all meaning, now is just a buzzword for "he's the main character and gets stuff done".
>>
>>81866219
Man, power creep has really set in since then.
Luke Cage is 50-ton class Colossus and She-Hulk are now class 100.
And I'm pretty sure the Handbook stats on Silver Surfer show him being much stronger.
Spider-Man has mostly remained consistant, probably because they don't want him to be too powerful.
>>
>>81858431
By that logic most heroic archetypes are Mary Sue. Shit, you could use the same rational to call Oedipus Rex a Mary Sue.

In essence that guys critique is;
>Can do extraordinary things
>Mary Sue
>>
>>81867296

Mary-Sue now is just an incredibly vague term that can mean anything or nothing, depend on who's using it against who. :(
