Yeah, and why the fuck not? Hussie somehow forgot to actually make cohesive endings that showcased closure on every little detail that was fun for both him to write and for us to experience. Instead of him actually doing something that rang on a good note and talked about every single character, we get some bullshit anime animation that barely even focuses on most of the characters for a good portion of the beginning half of the movie just for showcasing some cool animation techniques on a fucking frog.

Instead of him doing something absolutely revolutionary and bringing it all in with a single wham line and a nice final picture, we're given a quick mop-up and a fucking closure that's left to interpretation as so not to offend people and their continuous stream of bullshit, because he panders to fucking kids who use ironic punctuation about as bad as people on here use ironic twitter speak, but for fuck's sake, at least we have the common sense to not wear our heart on our sleeves and punch it to a bloody pulp each and every time we're dissatisfied with something, or just because someone misgendered you when you were a ham sandwich with mustard-kin.

I would of figured that, for at least a second, Hussie would of pulled off something heartwarming aside from a "THANKS FOR PLAYING" that rang hollow once you realized just how much bullshit got churned out from a single animation for no purpose other than to end what needed to be ended years ago. Meanwhile, Problem Sleuth still gives me fucking goosebumps with its final picture, because I can't help but remember all the fun I had reading it, and how much fun it was for Hussie to write it.

And there are people out there right now that would actually prefer this and will look fondly on this anime-psuedo-cringey as fuck ending that Homestuck went out on as to what Problem Sleuth did correctly.

Personal theory about the 'end'

What we just saw was Calliope's orchestrated ending, how she wanted it, similar to how Caliborn took over the story earlier in Act 6.

Tomorrow will be Caliborn's turn to take over the story again, final fights will happen, a 'satisfying' ending will be reached and we can all leave this stinking pile of horse shit behind.

Friendly reminder that Hussie intentionally made an underwhelming ending to get out of the overwhelming shadow that Homestuck would have cast on his next work, something that would have been impossible if it had a satisfying ending

It'll take a while to produce though, whatever specific form it ends up taking. Working on Collide took months, and came right down to the wire. I've got more time now though obviously. Homestuck could never have lived up to t
he expectations of every fan. "WHAT ABOUT ERIDANxEQUIUS??" etc. Instead of continuing to build the precarious story-skyscraper up and up and up with the countless plot threads and unmanageable tedium, Hussie instead, placed one perfect capstone on the cathedral he spent seven years creating.

Homestuck was about the journey. Go back and watch the animations again – every development introduces twice as many story threads that each need winding up, like a hydra. In that sense, Homestuck is kind of like the real world: complicated.

Homestuck was never about the plot threads or the new universe or any of that inane story-detail shit. If you want mythic fantasy, go play D&D. No – we, the fans, the ones who forced Hussie to make countless in-jokes and throwaway gag panels along the way, who got to live the comic – we are what Homestuck was about.

Smell the roses a little bit before you whine that your pet plot point wasn't addressed. Try and tell me that ending wasn't in the top 0.5% of the most beautiful animation you've ever seen. Hell, I'll even be generous and ask for 0.1%, instead. Andrew has literally written more than the entire Bible, at this point. He and his teams have composed days' worth of music, and animated near-enough to a feature film.

Sometimes, less is more.
