So you're reading comics, right, and everything makes sense, and then there's a part where they go to another dimension or something like that. Fans like those because it gives them another take on their favorite characters, like what if this guy was a chick or what if she was evil instead of good.

But some people start to like the new versions of the characters and they end up getting their own series and it all turns into this big clusterfuck trying to keep it all straight. So the writers start messing with the forumla more and more in their main timeline trying to keep the fans interested in it. It's not fuckin' rocket science, this stuff.
