The only thing I can kind of think of isn't /co/ related. I get the sense that most western writers try to avoid romance stories with a focus on underaged characters; they tend to do slice-of-life with occasional romance elements instead.

The thing I was thinking of was 14-sai no koi, by the way. Haven't read it in a while, I don't really remember much about it.

I dunno. Maybe western writers are more scared of being accused of pedophilia or something? I get the sense that Americans are more uptight about that sort of thing, especially compared to Japanese writers. It certainly seems like there aren't any stories that focus on young love, and stories that feature it as a side element tend to just portray it as silliness and hand-holding.

Except for maybe Romeo and Juliet. I wonder if Shakespeare was writing stuff today whether he'd be called a pervert.

I had love triangles. I liked a girl and a girl liked me but those girls were not the same.

That said I love these childhood romances. I guess I want to make up for the missed opportunities from my childhood.
