The real question is why don't people just shoot out little green balls at lightning speed. John has shown that you can create sniper constructs that can shoot green bullets spanning lightyears.

What each GL uses the ring for is usually highly dependent on the individual. Using the ring is supposed to be exhausting, and it's probably easier to control if you can manipulate it into familiar shapes and actions.

One thing that does trigger me hard is when they make John Stewart's constructs all fancy and double-reinforced and shit when literally all he is doing is pushing a bitch. It's like, oh, he was actually a really shitty architect I guess.

Guy Gardner is incredibly detailed about spacial awareness and physics, applying his time in higher education towards some of the most deceptively plausible constructs to balance out his out of control willpower, fitting in with his time as not only a teacher, but also a police officer.

Hal Jordan has been known to create constructs that are not only far more resistant to damage than most other bearers can take, as well as having his constructs last longer with more lax concentration than pretty much any of his peers.
