You know what Catherine, I think you could expand the idea of Ruby trying to take Jaune's weapon to her just trying to fiddle about with the weapons of all of her friends, trying to steal them and modify them slightly or just play about with them.

Is Resurgence the fastest moving (good) fic in the fandom?

120K words in a month and a half, that's fucking fast. Not to mention he couldn't have planned too much in advance since he managed to take into account the events from volume 3's ending and he started the fic the very next day (or two days if he's a sponsor) after the showing of End of the Beginning.

Too bad it's going to be Lancaster, but I'll overlook it once it gets there.

That said, I haven't touched resurgence since I've been filtering out Pyrrha because of the new Arkos fix fics and Arkos 'tragedy' fics. Read one of those read all of them IMO.

Since she believes weapons are an extension of people, her difficulty in the upgrades as not really getting Jaune.
On Jaune's side you could have him getting more and more worried that his sword is missing.

Well, they were kinda right. June ancestors may have been Hunters, but his immediate family are clearly normies. No combat School training, his aura hadn't been unlocked, he didn't even know what it was. I'd say they were right to say he could give up if he wasn't up to it, because he clearly wasn't. Well, Ozpin's previous guardian/guardians which may or may not include Summer failed/died because he's looking for a new one. Then Pyrrha died. Now Ruby who is the other person Ozpin paid special attention to and who Qrow talked to seems like she's next as the simple soul. We also know that Ozpin and Salem has done this thing before from her monologue. Granted, we don't know how many came before Pyrrha, just that there was at least 1 so it may not be appropriate calling it a cycle.
