Marville started as an ego trip, pure and simple. It was in a contest between Dan Abnett's Captain Marvel relaunch, and then the editor's own "better" Marville. Who ever got the better sales won. However, both sold like dog-shit. Only reason Marville got 6 issues was because it was by the editor-in-chief. I have no doubt it was genuine past the first issue.

In a sense, I think it has a real kitsch appeal to it, and it will probably wind up in the "so bad it's good" pile eventually.
