It makes me sad when I think about how long it might be before we see Zootopia 2. Just waiting for the Blu-Ray is already going to be hard. Will Disney at least do a TV show following Nick and Judy at the ZPD, with some cute slice-of-life shenanigans peppered throughout to tide us over?
thought that was a noose in the OP
Any predictions for when we will see the blu-ray? Bonus for Zootopia 2 release date prediction.
Yeah, it might get the Lilo and Stitch treatment. Disney doesn't have an extensive history of sequels that aren't straight-to-video cash grabs so that might be the best bet.

Regardless of reviews BVS is going to make a shitload of money. Even so, I don't think that it will dig into Zootopia that much. Zootopia had an excellent audience approval rating which is in many ways more important than reviews, whereas I really have no idea how the audience is going to react to BVS, although in the best case scenario it's going to be a very controversial movie, and the people who hate it are obviously going to point to the bad reviews.

I sort of regret seeing this movie. For the last week, I've been spending my time in these threads and when not doing that, I'm constantly thinking about it. I honestly feel a longing for something that isn't real and it weirds me out. I've never had a movie do that to me before. I don't know if I should just take a break, but I don't want to miss these threads while they're still happening.
Anyone buy the "Zootopia Handbook"? I'm curious what's in it, but not curious enough to spend $ without finding out if it's worthwhile.

>>81005242
Yeah no doubt. Bateman does both TV and film and I'm sure they could get him to voice Nick in the show, and Goodwin is primarily a TV actress so she'd be a shoe-in too. Most of the other returning characters would probably have to get sound-alikes but Nick and Judy are the most important.

I don't think Netflix or HBO shows count since they can be limited and tend to draw in bigger names.

>>81005442
It depends on how much he liked being the character, probably. Voice acting pays well, however it might be more of a time commitment to do it for TV than in a movie. It probably all depends on how much Disney was to offer and whether he can knock most of his work for a season in one go, or if they'd have to bring him in more frequently, which could potentially interfere with film shoots.

Judy and Nick "shipping" doesn't quite due justice to the term, because the audience is supposed to want them to be "together" even without the romantic component. It's extremely low hanging fruit. Shipping usually involves wanting two characters to be in a relationship even though they may have only even spoken to each other a few times, or when there is a blatant (or imaginary) love triangle that causes shipper wars.
Nick and Judy don't have other potential love interests. They don't even have much in the way of other friends, outside of Judy's childhood friends. They are the male and female characters whom the audience sees together the most, and the story is ultimately about these two unlikely strangers getting close to one another. There's not really any reason why them getting together wouldn't be believable, and plenty of reasons why it would be.

Not really. Police figured into several Lovecraft stories and some shows dip into that territory ala True Detective.

I want a Zootopia TV series so freaking bad. Nick and Judy already have the perfect Castle/Beckett-esque dynamic; my only worry is how much they'd be restricted in that it would be a cop/crime procedural show... for kids. How much would they be able to do WITHOUT going into murders?

Here's a funny idea.
It's been a little bit since the end of the movie. Zootopia's back into order under it's new rodent mayor, and Judy and Nick are now firmly cemented as some of the force's best officers. Things couldn't go wrong...
Cue our intrepid duo having to follow a case regarding a murdered pig, with a strange insignia seemingly branded into it's flesh. Things continue to build up until we discover a strange conspiracy now entangling Zootopia's underworld.
A cult of animals, all working together to summon a mythical creature wrought from ancient mythology. A beast, capable of outlasting all and obliterating society as we know it.
They seek to resurrect a beast known as the Homosapien.

I'm kind of in the same boat. To be honest I only ever write romance stories that always lead to sex scenes 100% of the time. I'm a (so I like to think) pretty decent writer when I actually give a shit and am not just net-speaking for speed, but the thing is, I want to write an "after the concert" Nick and Judy story where they get all cutesy, but with no fucking, which is 100% out of my usual comfort zone, amusingly. I want to write it because I absoultely LOVE the concept of Nick and Judy being together as a couple, so I just want to make that happen on paper, but it's already been done 12,000 times so it's like eh, why add another into the pile. Idk man, this is probably the only time I've ever wanted to write something that doesn't end in furry anal. I really love these characters, more so I love that these characters love one another.
>>81007707
Not that it's a bad idea, but it feels really "fanfic-y", ya know? Probably gonna take some good effort to make it work.

>Under-Funding or Under-Paying the Police Force (Untrained and negligent officers force Nick and Judy to possibly go independent as PIs.)
>Immigration (Lizards/Avians/Sea Creatures are introduced to the Zootopia populace, co-habitation and racist issues occur.)

Most people don't even realize that the song itself is full of blatantly anti-police lyrics and just like the WOO WOO part, because that's the only part they ever hear. It's a "death of the author" kind of situation.
>>81008584
why?
>>81009369
she was completely unnecesary and felt like the only reason she was there is because the marketing team sugested it

What if Zootopia had impromptu singing? Where would it be inserted? What kind of songs would they be singing?

Watching the movie again I noticed that Sahara Square and Tundra Town are right next to each other, and it makes perfect sense. The exhaust from the refrigeration units that power Tundra Town are connected directly to Sahara Square, which makes Tundra Town cold while also heating up Sahara Square.

Judy is 24, Nick is officially early 30s, though you can assume hes 32 if Judy's math was more than just general guessing

I think a lot of boys have had a moment kind of like that. Nick's case was especially bad, but we've all had that moment when we were away from home without mom and dad, some other kid was an asshole to us, and there either wasn't an adult there to help or we were scared of being a tattle tale.

>We were talking about how well we thought we were gonna do
>I kinda jokingly said something like I thought I was gonna do the best or something
>Then one by one almost literally every one in the group said that no, they were all going to do better than me without any irony
Shit hurt. I knew one of them really didn't like me but they all didn't act like it was at all wierd that they all basically just agreed I was the dumbest person in the group.
Then
>I actually did beat them all (I was kind of surprised)
>Most of them just acted like what they had said never happened (maybe they forgot)

>>81009888
Well we have no idea where exactly suncity Nick ends up aside from getting his collar removed.
Though I can assume its not anywhere in the police force. I could imagine Nick going back to running his theme park after the collars are all gone, since there would be nothing illegal about it anymore presumably
Also he would totally get with Judy, probably. Sounds like the overtones may have been stronger in the original draft. Which considering its Disney, which loves pairing up its characters, isn't too surprising
Their theaters got popcorn-drink-toy combos? Huh.
A tie-in with McDonalds or something like that, sure, but haven't seen one of these done at a theater before.

The scene was such a let down, they didn't show anything. There I was thinking Finnick was going to have his big moment and, nothing. I don't know if they had to cut that scene in post or what but I'm still mad Fin was robbed of screentime.
>>81010122
This certainly narrows down the search parameters. We shall have our answer soon.
>>81010123
Well he was meant to be a side character. It always sucks when they don't get good screen time, but its not like hes super developed.
Honestly if you think about it hes kind of just a one joke character. A fully grown guy with a really deep voice who pretends to be a baby for scams

I felt like that at first with an added "adding a character performing with a sexual element will make the childless normie stay at home rather than risk being called a furry" but I was wrong all around. Gazelle helped characterize a few characters and added a touch of reality regarding activist celebrities. She helped Zootopia feel like a real place with depth and was used so little she wasn't obnoxious.
>>81010164
I guess he had a bigger role in the original concept
I'm kinda confused at the timespan of events in the movie starting when Judy had her first day in precinct 1. I think the next 2 days encompasses the investigation with Nick and finding all the missing mammals, then judy fucks up the speech and loses Nick and she quits for the next 2 weeks before returning to Nick..
Then...idk.. doesn't Nick have to go to the police academy for his training after they arrest bellweather? or did he just automatically become a cop in precinct 1 with Judy just like that? also when does the gazelle concert at the end take place? is it literally just 1 day after they arrested bellweather? or was that waaaay after they arrested her and Nick became a cop? it almost seemed like 1 day after the next, like He becomes a cop, they get all cute in the cop car the same day, meet Flash as the speeding guy, then the concert is that same night?
shit man I'm confused
if you could pair finnick with one type of animal, which would it be?
>pic related is similar to a deleted scene of the movie
>maybe will be include in the blue ray release
>>81009739

He wanted to stay out of the spotlight the 1st time. It's possible he didn't take any credit the 2nd time (though I doubt Judy wouldn't give him credit even if he protested) or at the very least stayed out of the cameras.

>15 years later Judy goes to the academy
>Roughly 6 months later she graduates and moves to zootopia
>A day or two later she gets put on the case
>A few days after that she apparently solves it but loses her friendship with Nick and causes a racewar
>Goes home a day or so after that
>Spends a week or 2 away
>Goes back and fixes everything
>Presumably another 6 months later Nick graduates from the academy and joins the force
Only real unclear part is where the concert took place. Presumably after Nick joined the force, but it could have been before. Though how he would have gotten away from the academy to see it would be a mystery unless it was like days after they solved the case.

>There is a popular tradition known as Bachelor's Day in some countries allowing a woman to propose marriage to a man on February 29. If the man refuses, he then is obliged to give the woman money or buy her a dress. In upper-class societies in Europe, if the man refuses marriage, he then must purchase 12 pairs of gloves for the woman, suggesting that the gloves are to hide the woman's embarrassment of not having an engagement ring. In Ireland, the tradition is supposed to originate from a deal that Saint Bridget struck with Saint Patrick.
