Pyrrha's head-dress is a persona-recording device she can be resurrected from (at least as an AI-clone of herself), this is the reason she wears it literally constantly even in civilian clothes; also the reason it was most obviously unaffected by a heat blast that incinerated all of Pyrrha including her armor, while ostensibly being an accessory that SHOULD be the first thing to go (since the heat was channeled through it) — and it didn't even discolor or warp.

Nah, man. In hindsight, Washington's actions make sense and were justified, and put together the Freelancer story holds up pretty well and was a reasonably nice variation fom the existing series. At the time, my only thoughts were 'what the fuck happened to the idiots making inane small-talk in a canyon? Why are they showing us edgelords with a contrived plot and why should I care?" Maybe it's because I followed RvB semi-consistently from when Season 2 first started running, but it really threw me off.
