Shes been almost interesting this season twice. When she dealt with the calculator and when she was hallucinating.

Shes not a strong female character.
Shes a poorly written and if we're being honest - its kind of sexist. He entire character revolves around her relationship.

The problem is that they stopped giving the character anything to do during Season 3. Her hacking used to take time and could be thwarted, now she just clacks a keyboard for a few seconds and that's it. In that sense, you could take Felicity's grating personality to be a response to what Arrow is/isn't allowed to do and who the show is aimed for.

Felicity is the essence of the female audience who none of the comicbook-heavy writers/producers wanted anything to do with in the first place. Network pressure meant that they had to take it more seriously, and as a result, Felicity is a way for the writers to rebel against the system.

Is there anything better than pushing the crap out of a relationship that you had no intention of using in the first place? And just making it plain-old awful: Felicity is a domineering monster, and Oliver just TAKES it, knowing full well that he could do infinitely better than her.

The thing is they believe that he isn't a villain rather a victim who should be excused for all of his actions which include murder, attempted murder, torture, and betraying his 'family'. IT’S CALLED HAVING A CHARACTER ARC!! It isn’t all about Felicity. It’s certainly more about her than it is about Laurel if that’s what you’re trying to say with this (Nobody has ever denied that lol) Felicity got an arc when she was paralyzed and another small arc when they gave us her back story in 3x05. You people keep saying sarcastic things like “Is the show called Arrow anymore or is it called Felicity Smoak” to try and prove some kind of point? Up until 4x11 Oliver has about 260 minutes of screen time and Felicity only has 137. Anyway, he has almost double her screen time. The flashbacks are all about him. Maybe you’re too focused on hating Felicity you black out whenever he speaks or moves. Believe it or not Oliver’s storyline is always going to be the main plot of the show A.K.A the main villains in every season that he has to take down. His triumphs and his defeats. With the help of his Felicity. You haters can’t decide. You’re all “Why does Oliver need Felicity’s opinion I miss when he made decisions on his own and didn’t need to consult her all the time” Admit it, you’re just mad its Felicity and not Laurel (Laurel has no knowledge when it comes to tactics and strategy. Felicity is not useless. He also says pretty early on that he didn't find the list on the Island. I think it was towards the start of season 1. He forshadowed his original return to Starling right then.

Arrow drops a lot of plot threads in the first two seasons and season 3 and 4 kind of just chose to shit the bed on every last fucking one of those.

It was clear getting of the Island was always planned since they had the five years of flashbacks charted out. I think the negative reaction to season 3's flashbacks (Which honestly I didn't think were that bad. Most people seem to fixate on them not being on the island above all else...), and possibly not being able to use Hal Jordan for the Coast City flashbacks kind of fucked things over.

Write Felicity off the show or write her like she was back in Season 1. Tone her the fuck down.

Kill Malcolm. He really shouldn't even be alive at this point. The line should have been drawn when he killed Sara.

Give more meaning to the Flashbacks. At this point, Ollie should be growing his beard and becoming the monster that he was in Season 1. Pair that with magic and other shit and you could have some really strong flashback stories.

Develop Ollie and his crew. They were on the right track with him running for mayor, then they fucking dropped it.Give Thea something to do other than be pissed at her dad for making her want to murder everything. Remember Laurel exists. Go back to the Ollie and Diggle friendship we had early on. That shit was glorious.

Improve the fight scenes. Ollie should be the best fighter on the show after what he's been through, not to mention fighting against fucking R'as and Slade. But he still manages to job like crazy.

Turn Ollie into the leader that he already is. Everything has been setting him on the path to be a leader in his story, but aside from running from mayor AND DROPPING OUT, he hasn't done much at all. In fact, there was bullshit this season about how he wasn't calling the shots anymore.

Finish up character arcs. Solomon Grundy is the worst offender the show has. Not to mention Lance hasn't seen Sara, so one of them dying would fuck that subplot right up. Huntress still hasn't had her redemption arc that they've hinted at since Season 2. For a magic themed season, only Dahrk and Constantine have shown up. Zatara, Zatanna, Fate, and the rest of the mystic DC have yet to be even mentioned.
