Is anything as perfect as this gonna happen again? What are the creators up to?
>>
>What are the creators up to?

Probably getting high as fuck.
>>
Did anyone else find themselves unable to watch this?

I felt like I was watching some tryhard fan attempting to imitate all the great elements of a Miyazaki movie with horrible execution. The dialogue and character development felt cringy and the forced cute-like elements that have no value to the narrative turned me off to the whole show.
>>
>>80469430
Did you watch the whole thing?

I agree it was a bit strange at the first episode but by the time it got to the second somehow it all seemed to feel naturally and not cringy.

If you haven't watched past episode 1 I'd defiantly take those extra 15 minutes and watch episode 2.
>>
I kinda didn't like the ending, how everything was lol just a dreeeeam. I hate that kind of cop-out.
>>
>>80469904
It wasn't really a dream.

Did you actually watch the show?
>>
>>80469904
It was not a dream. It is a mystery. Some say that they journeyed into the land of the dead like Orpheus
>>
>>80469349
It may not be perfect for others, but I'm just glad this show attempted a different kind of storytelling and tone.
>>
I heard McHale was working on some Custome Quest adaptation or something lame like that. I don't think Cross is doing anything right now.
>>
>>80469904
poor poor anon

"Dancing in a swirl,/ Of golden memories,/ The loveliest lies of all,/ The loveliest, lies of all."

The loveliest lie being they woke up
>>
What did Adelaide mean when she said that she was going to fill Wirt and Greg's heads with wool?
>>
>>80471976
Considering how into quilting she was, and that she possessed a pair of scissors that could turn a family of bluebirds back into humans by literally cutting their wings off? I'd say she meant it pretty damn literally. And by the rules of the Unknown it probably would've made them into perfect zombie slaves, or at least that was the implication.

What is this, this show was praised to hell when it was released on /co/, and threads kept popping months after it aired too.

>>80469430
The first episode is truly the worst.
>>
>>80472438
>What is this, this show was praised to hell when it was released on /co/, and threads kept popping months after it aired too
What are you trying to say? That it was initially liked to one can't criticize it?
>>
>>80469904
>>80471906
>>80472319
>greg shakes his frog at the end and the witch's bell shines from inside him
>ending clearly shows the setting continuing to exist after they left
>retards still think it was a dream and criticize the series because of their own wrong interpretation
>>
>>80472319
>"It was all a dream"
>Greg shaking his Frog
>The life goes on...over the garden wall.
Looks live /tv/ was right in something, /co/ is full of retards.
>>
>>80472588
>>80472744

dem contradicting dubs
>>
>>80472438
The problem with good things is that once you've talked them to death, any later threads usually have nothing to talk about. That's primarily why /co/ doesn't talk about good things; it's because we've already talked about it.

Anybody left who complain are either in a minority or are set to troll.
>>
>>80472819
Not contradictory, the other guy said pretty much the same thing I did
>>
>>80472841
This. I remember when /co/ would have threads about this show for weeks on end before it finally died down.
>>
>>80472744
>/co/ is full of retards

We're a board full of grown men who obsessively watch children's cartoons. What do you expect?

I'm still curious as to what the Unknown is, all though the semantics in that speech means it's obvious it's not supposed to be known.

I just wish there were more clues overall, not even to one specific ideal, just more things point to that it could be a dream while also making it seem like it could have happened. To aid in the mystery. I would have been happy with the original ending concept, where the Beast was like the Grim Reaper and trying to capture the boys lost souls, not to bring them to the afterlife but to return them to the world of the living since they accidentally stumbled into purgatory with their near death experience.

>>80472841
Pretty much this. It's why it's way easier to critique than to simply praise. There's far more to talk about.
>>
I thought this show was good, but not as great as everyone says it is.

I finally watched this series about a week ago, after having seen the pilot episode a long time ago and telling myself that I would eventually get around to finishing it, and although I think it was excellent, the end did feel a bit lacking. I think that idea would have worked better, and would have fit in with the running theme of things that seem dangerous actually being rather benign or helpful.
>>
>>80469349
I think the dude who laid the foundation for the original is doing Costume Quest now.
>>
I never really put much time into the show and all it's nuances, but I always thought "over the garden wall" was some sort of Limbo, and it's up to the viewer to decide if they returned or no.
>>
>>80472927
and /tv/ is filled with literal shameless pedophiles. granted so is /co/ but you can at least pretend they're just into cartoon characters.
>>
>>80473440
"You can just pretend they're not" isn't a very good defense senpai
>>
>>80473488
it's not defense it's denial ;_;

It was a better time
>>
>>80469349
The music was boring and dated
>>
>>80473686
While I did find most of the music rather forgettable, it's not really dated. It is deliberately produced to emulate the music from an earlier time, which I think works well with the tone of the show.

That's kind of the point though, it's supposed to be taking place in a past setting. That's why everyone is dressed up in ye olden clothing, riding on steamboats, and dreams living in 1930's cartoons.

It's a stylistic choice, and if you don't like that genre it's fine, but it fits the show quite well.

I liked the soundtrack a lot anyway
>>
I don't get the love for this show. I thought it was decent, but a bit too tumblr if that makes sense. And certainly not the amazing piece of art it's clearly trying to be. Also it all being a dream? Fuck off. There's no excuse for an ending that shitty. If the little brother really did die that would have been much better.
>>
>>80473612
>>80473673
no really why was she black
>>
>>80473570
this. black girls are ugly. He could do better than that
>>
>>80473911
who cares, she has five minutes of screen time and is always in costume
>>
>>80473901
It wasn't a dream, anon. Though they redrafted the ending many times, and it was less impressive each time.

One of the later endings that they talked about had Wirt sacrifice his ability to leave in order to allow Greg to get back home. Although, Wirt would have still made out because he could have spent his life with Beatrice..
>>
>>80473901

>>
it would've been better without all the singing
except for Lullaby in Frogland
>>
>>80473973
ok it wasn't an "all just a dream" ending it was even worse. It was the pretentious "all just a dream, but oooh maybe not! it's open to interpretation" type of ending.

I'm not saying it's a terrible cartoon, it's just not nearly as good as people make out. There are much better cartoons.
>>
>dude it was all a dream lmao
The Unknown is a place for "all that was lost", with more than one definition of lost. Some of the people there are dead, while others are lost toys or lost pets.

that one doesn't count since it's the theme song.
>>
>>80469904
I think it's acceptable to have a dream story if it has an impact and relevance to real world.
