Tell me why this movie is good without using the words "fun" "dc" or "bait"
>>
Star Wars meets Avengers
Chris Pratt
Colours
Soundtrack
Comedy
Characters
Stop being a salty fuck
>>
It's a properly-structured story with setup, buildup, climax, and resolution all neatly in place. It has a simple but consistent central theme. The characters are believable, interesting and likable. It has humor, action, and drama that feel natural and not forced.
>>
Is "fun" a trigger word? I get that its pretty minimal in terms of describing a thing but so is calling something "shit" and we use that all the time.
>>
>>79679107
this
and this >>79679125

Fuck you op
>>
>>79679074
I never liked comics but i just loved the characters, especially rocket and the MC
Love story it's there but not enough to take away focus from the main events.
Got a chuckle out of me a good number of times.
Looks pretty good.
The only bad parts are that facepaint doesn't turn humans into aliens and i just can't give a shit about a character that only says i am groot
>>
I didn't much like how they handled Gamora.

Why was she always in peril. Seriously Im supposed to believe those guys in the prison where a threat to her? IN the comics she walked off a solar flare to the face
>>
It had a happy sense of adventure to it about a group of misfits coming together to stop villain man. It generally knew what to focus on and what to leave alone. Some creative action scenes that use the sci fi universe helped a lot.
>>
>>79679074
It's comfy.
>>
>>79679164
I'm more concerned about the fact that she's so fucking boring. I couldn't describe her character if I tried.
>>
>>79679164
Yeah Gamora was the weakest of the gang, in terms of character or development. She better up her game since there's gonna be two green women on the team in Vol 2
>>
>>79679074
Its a children's movie made to appeal and appease hipster parents that likes the eighties.
>>
>>79679132
>Is "fun" a trigger word? I get that its pretty minimal in terms of describing a thing but so is calling something "shit" and we use that all the time.

The thing about it is that people will use "fun" to excuse anything that's cringe worthy or really corny

>You didn't like Jim Gaffigans Hot Pocket joke? YOU HATE FUN!
>>
>>79679193
>80s
I think you mean 70's anon
>>
James Gunn
>>
>>79679074
Because it's a popcorn movie that can literally be watched at any time, regardless of the mood you're in. Incidentally, I was watching the "We are Groot" scene when I saw this thread while browsing.
>>
>>79679202
Probably because they don't cringe as easily as you and don't mind a bit of corn.
>>
It's comfy and fun
>>
>>79679214
>that can literally be watched at any time, regardless of the mood you're in.

Speak for yourself, I can only watch it if I'm in the mood to get some ass and the girl I'm with likes it...because its a girl movie

That must be some manly ass you're wanting
>>
>>79679270
What the hell
>>
>>79679270
No?
I mean it's obviously not meant to be taken seriously there, so what's the issue?
>>
>>79679467
Just because something isn't supposed to be taken seriously isn't an excuse for it to be bad
>>
>>79679495
Not but it's an excuse for it not to be serious. It's obviously an attempt at comedy.
What specifically was bad about it? Bonus points if you don't use the word "meme".

I honestly preferred that to the whole power of friendship bs that came right after.
>>
OOGA CHAKA OOGA OOGA
>>
>>79679562
>It's obviously an attempt at comedy.
Not all attempts at comedy achieve their goal

The thing is it's try hard, it's trying to be retro and quirky and appeal to a certain type of person and that's really just not funny
>>
>>79679495
>"""""bad"""""
Look man, it's a Marvel movie where
>the characters aren't acting out of character
>the story makes sense
>the writing isn't by Joss Whedon
>the show runners aren't affiliated with Fox in any way
What more could you possibly ask for?
>>
>>79679603
>and that's really just not funny to me
Fixed. To say it didn't appeal to you is one thing. To say that it was bad BECAUSE it didn't appeal to you is full retard. Never go full retard, anon.
>>
>>79679663
Seconded
>how dare they make a comedy sketch that i personally don't find funny but a lot of other people genuinely do
He kicked a rat in the beginning, didn't he? i remember laughing at that
>>
>>79679812
Dude, the whole movie was basically how I imagined my group running a d20 Modern space adventure game would go. Laughs, thrills, spills, feels, and a Good End.

I laughed at the rat kick, too.
>>
>>79679603
That scene has nothing retro about it. If anything Quill shouldn't know the expression "dance-off" or call people "bro".
>>
>>79679873
he's so stylish and on-the-ball he independently invented them.
>>
>>79679873
>If anything Quill shouldn't know the expression "dance-off" or call people "bro".

Those might be terms that have achieved meme status as of late but they are far from new

It's also fun.

It's Star Wars with super heroes.

>>
I'm seeing a theme with people who don't like this movie
>le retro
>le quirky
>le reddit
>le le le le lel le le le le le le

I thought I've been here too long but you people are literally incapable of expressing your opinion without ironic shitposting
>>
>>79679911
They still shouldn't be the default expressions for a "sheltered" 80s kid.
>>
>>79680012
Now tell us why Deadpool is a DEEP and INTELLECHUL movie, anon.
>>

>as a brand loyalist, I must defend Disney
>>

>It's Star Wars with super heroes.

What super heroes...
>>

I haven't seen Deadpool nor have I ever seen anyone describing it as "deep" or "intellechul". Are you trying to make some sort of point?

Blue Walking Dead Man.
>>
>>79680040

>>79680043
Yeah, that Disney shills love buzzwords to defend this shit of a movie.
>>
>>79680012
It isn't ironic when it's true. This movie is disgustingly trying so hard to appeal to wanna be hipster 20 somethings who think retro irony is cool and mistake quirk for humor

In a nutshell, it's for the Adventure Time/Regular Show crowd, skinny jeans and bid side burns, etc
>>
>>79679132
Fun doesn't really mean anything
It's like calling food tasty, it shows that you like it but didn't say anything as to why.
>>
>>79680056
Deadpool isn't Disney.
Put some effort into your bait.
>>
>>79680056
>Accusing others of using buzzwords
>Continues to "le" it up even after somebody called them out on it

This is bait. Nobody is that stupid.

Which means /co/ has been invaded by that fauna. Oh god...

What's wrong with 'fun'?
>>
>>79680624
Why would I hide myself, I'm not the one who enjoys GOTG and has an ironic mustache
>>
It was one of the most well received cape movies and defied a lot of expectations, especially /co/'s. Therefore the /co/ntrarian backlash against it has to be even worse than usual. It just took them a while to decide to use the terms 'meme' (by the way, name a meme that appeared in this movie that was a meme before the movie and not after) and 'quirky' incorrectly to describe what they don't like about it because they have no substantive opinion, just a gut reaction because normies like it.
>>
>>79680698
It's sad. You keep reaching for the whole HIPSTER aspect and it just sounds like some lonely asshole in his 40s that doesn't get that things change. Get the fuck over yourself.

Coming from a guy defending a movie trying to cash in on the whole retro trend...you have no argument

>>
>>79680027
The nonobvious semiotics of the pegging scene leverage surface crude humour into a superlative, subversive encouragement of deeper, independent thought on the implications, positive and negative, of non-normative intimate relations.
>>
>>79680935

Fuck me you really are 25, otherwise you'd probably know that retro is nothing new or special.
I bet you also hate Grease.

I love Grease

What the hell does Grease have to do with this hunk of shit pandering movie that only appeals to girls and trendy fucks?
>>
>>79681070
Grease was an 80s movies that exploited the fuck out of the 80s retro-boner for the 50s. See also: 50s style diners exploding during the 80s. Also a movie for girls.

You're either embarrassing yourself from ignorance or hypocrisy here.
