Reminding you all that Timezones are a thing.

Y'know I just realized that Flynt's weapon is good for huntsman duties. For one thing, he fights by blowing back enemies, which appears nonlethal when fighting people and can hold back grimm tides.

But the clincher is that his weapon is musical in nature, he can raise people's morale by playing some sweet jazz for everyone's souls, keeping them happy and diminishing further grimm attractions.

Well, Ruby still has to cry over her parts and ask Ironwood or Penny's Father (who needs an introduction) the inevitable "You can fix her, right? Tell me you can fix her!"

And even after they weld her back together and reboot/restore her brain from backup, there's the likely complication of corrupted memory to deal with before we have the old Penny back, if we can ever have the same Penny back at all.

Oh, and there's also that minor issue of that pesky Grimm invasion to deal with.


In all seriousness, though, my prediction is that Penny's chassis gets whisked off to safety in the next episode, almost certainly into the care of her father. We might get to briefly see her undergoing repairs in the last episode of this season or the first episode of the next, but when we next see her on her feet will depend on how badly current events upset the status quo.

It's entirely possible that Beacon will be overrun and/or be so heavily damaged that classes cannot resume until extensive repairs are done, and the RWBY team will be forced to leave Vale (at least for a while).

If that happens, we might not get to see Penny active again for an entire season or longer. Same thing goes if RWBY stays in Beacon, but Penny is taken back to Atlas for repairs (although I originally believed this to be less likely, the more I think about it the more I realize that it would make sense to keep her story from hijacking major plotlines).

But if things return to relative normalcy, and Penny undergoes her repairs in Vale, then I expect her to be back online in early Volume 4. But shortly thereafter, she will either be put on a bus, or fade into the background...

Do you guys think something vaguely similar to Metro 2033 could be an interesting concept in RWBY? Instead of remnants of Moscow huddled together after a nuclear holocaust it's people from an overrun city managing to hide from and occasionally fighting off the Grimm. I'm not quite sure how things like food and water would be handled, or if like in Metro there could be multiple factions, but I think it's an interesting if not entirely likely idea that maybe there could be small pockets of humanity (and their lesser cousins) living in a much more dire society.

People read fanfics because they're already invested in the characters. They know what Weiss is like, what Ruby thinks of X or what Qrow would do in situation Y.
OCs don't have that. The readers won't even have a clear idea what they look like so it's hard to just give a shit either way.
Naturally, sometimes you need supporting characters - OCs are just fine there because it doesn't matter if the readers don't get invested in a witty salesman who won't be seen ever again.
OCs are only problematic when they start hogging screentime, even if they are well-written it's an uphill battle when there are a billion other fics out there which focus on characters the readers already care about.

Actually I once had an idea for an Etrian Odyssey-style game, where you'd have a part of four made up of anthropomorphic ships of RWBY and JNPR.

So you could have a team of White Rose, Bumblebee, Arkos, and Renora, but you couldn't have a team of White Rose and Ladybug, as both involve Ruby.

I had fun thinking up designs for a while.

The last piece of media I consumed was Magic duels so I'm going to take MTG as a whole.
Assuming we can cut whoever's writing Nissa's articles, everyone goes up a bit in how well they're written. This includes the villains, where I imagine Roman or Adam being written in entertaining first person like a certain demon planeswalker.
Also because Maro is obsessive about this stuff, Aura, Dust, Semblances, and everything else becomes clearly defined over night.
Also, we get updates where everyone is placed on the MTG color pie at the very end of every one of Maro's analysis of everyone's semblances.
Additionally, the writing goes up, because it's more evocative of the "Legendary creatures are the focus of the story" era instead of the "Gatewatching" era
Expect the tcg to come out the year after. I have faith that WoTC can handle it.

I wonder if it would be a good idea if Jaune realised that Pyrrha will most likely be unstanble and tries to rush to her side to calm her down. Make sure the name is a color, or invokes a color.

Think deeply about their personality. What do they believe in? What do they like dislike? Their thoughts on Faunus and White Fang? How do they act in battle? How does she or she talk? How are they when together with strangers or friends? What are their interests? What do they think about politics, religion, society, etc?

Their Semblance is supposed to be a manifestation of who they are, what they believe in, their past, etc.

I recommend avoiding weeaboo stuff, like Japanese names and weapons. Do NOT let the character use a Katana!

Don't turn your OC's into a main character. It's perfectly okay however to let them play a supporting role.

Make sure they interact with the canon characters, but don't let the OC become the focus. A story with no canon characters quickly get boring. No one will read that.

Avoid making a angsty, dark, edgy, emo, brooding character with a sad past. It's way overused.

Let your character have flaws. Do not turn him into a overpowered, flawless creation.

Avoid the color black as much as you can. Do not let it be the dominant color. It's overused.

Do not self-insert yourself into your character!

Tread very lightly if you want your OC to romance a canon characters. Make it realistic, take it slow and steady. Do not make the canon almost automatically fall in love.
