My problem with this death is hiw young he was. Like anyone <21 dying just fucks me up.
>>
>>78881003
The author of the comic? Jesus... why would make such a thing
>>
>>78880976
See, what happened was that Ctrl-Alt-Del was a gag gaming webcomic, basically Penny Arcade only not as good. Then, out of fucking nowhere, they did this lengthy plot line where the MC's girlfriend had a miscarriage. It was such a jarring, grotesque tonal shift that the comic completely crashed and burned, and ever since then, the pivotal comic of the arc has been used as a Photoshop target.
>>
>>78881107
No, we post it to mock it. It's a "humor' web comic which the author then decided to drum up with DRAMA by having his character's girlfriend miscarry. It was already a shit comic and this was eternally hilarious
>>
>>78881107
People make fun of it because the comic wasn't really a serious comic and he just kind of shoved it in there for no reason.

A:TLA is incredibly powerful with its slow story and character development. Even when Aang goes berserk Avatar Mode for Appa and Katara hugs him down it fucking lands. Such a beautiful show.

I don't even know why they tried to make a movie out of it, when all it's strengths relied on the longer format and the simple but incredibly aesthetic vaguely defined eastern look.

I guess because they're more honest about what they're doing. With live action films and shit it's this big overdramatic thing where the actors are trying their hardest to win some kind of award for their shit, and you know it. Maybe with cartoons your suspension of disbelief completely removes that jaded lens from the equation and you're much more receptive to the emotional barrage they're trying to hit you with. Who really knows though, I'm just pulling stuff out of my ass

That's about what I always figured as well. There's a bit of a silver lining to having animated films be shunted to the side and ignored by the mainstream hollywood establishment- it means the people who get into and make animated films actually like animated films and do their best with what they got, without giving a fuck about stupid superficial bullshit like the oscars or whatever, because they're never going to penetrate into that club of pretentious drama-jerking old geezers anyway.

That came too far out of left field for me.

The one where Bender unexpectedly bonds with his bastard son is pretty good, though.

Although the impact is ruined a bit by the joke they did in one of the movies with Bender tracking down his firstborn son and then casually throwing him into robot hell without hesitation.

Just for clearence:

>The differences between the film's conclusion and the book's are numerous and have substantial bearing on their respective outcomes. The most significant is that the survival of the dogs at the end of the film seems very unlikely; the book as originally submitted to the publisher concluded similarly, but in all known editions, the pair is rescued and returned to Snitter's original owner, who in the book has survived. Other differences are linked to the alteration of certain characters and to an overall compression of the time sequences and series of events outlined in the book.

>The film ends with the dogs swimming into the fog, leaving it ambiguous as to whether they survived or not, even though an island is shown during the credits.

Incredibly typical and overdone I know, but to this day absolutely nothing has hit me as hard as this episode did.

I consider myself pretty emotional about these things so it's not like this episode was the only thing I ever cried to. Generally I enjoy letting a good show get me to that really emotional point that i'm just not allowed to go to in real life.

This episode however had me in tears immediately and re-watching for days on end trying to wrap my head around why it left me in such an emotional wreck. To this day I don't really know, something about the language used in the song, the amount the episode doesn't show you, or just seeing these two great characters I've fallen in love with humanized in such a tragic way.

Buckley's ex-girlfriend had a miscarriage and then they broke up. Loss.jpg has a huge blogpost that goes with it that makes the whole thing funnier because Tim is such a twat.
In short he says something like
>Well my relationship was toxic to begin with, and the miscarraige didn't really bother me that much because I didn't want a kid anyway but I could kinda see how that would've affected other couples. So I decided to write this plotline to 'test' Ethan and Lilah's relationship and see what would happen.

>Wakfu has a real problem with permanence though. In both cases it gets reverted within, at most, 4 episodes.

The season 1 ending was crazier than that, Nox kills practically the entire crew, only Ruel and Eva survive. Tristepin is killed in battle, and all the Sadida die and turn into trees, including Amalia. Yugo also falls in combat. The bad guy pretty much wins and kills the good guys.

Nox then undoes all of that, but his spell doesn't last long enough for Tristepin to be saved. It was a damn rollercoaster.

As for Tristepin breaking Evas bow, they have two entire episodes, one for each character, where they go on soul trips afterwards. Eva realizes that he really does love the guy, and Pinpin tames Rubi so what happened can not happen again.

I found a better version, and now I don't have to worry about so fuck it, threads still up and I need this.
>I still remember the specifics of that day: Thursday around 1:30 in the afternoon, January 15, 2015. Mostly overcast, mid 50's in temperature
>go to nearby Jack in the box because fuck it I'm hungry
>head back home to the apartment, see cop car, think "someone must be having a rough moment right about now"
>go inside, set down food and jacket, get ready to eat
>(knock knock knock)
You know that feeling when you put all the context together in your head and you know it's not a good thing that's about to happen? Yeah that feeling.
>asks if I know (stepdads name), at first I thought he was in trouble with the law or something
>that stops when he asks me to sit down
>evidently, around 4:00am he was going down a 2 lane highway in the fog, almost to the main highway, when a semi-truck made an illegal left turn, and didn't see him in time.
>the pick-up truck he was borrowing spun out, he was thrown from the vehicle, and killed instantly
>he was on his way to see my mom out of town to celebrate a milestone in his falconry apprenticeship.
>the cop and I call my mom to tell her what happened, we decided its best I be the one to break the news
>I was in shock for at least an hour
>later we saw one news photo online that was edited by someone who didn't notice his shoe/lower-leg was visible in the shot, that was fucking nice
He'd had his ankle crush by a granite slab a few months earlier, missed a lot of work, things got pretty bad for him, but he started turning around in the weeks before. That night when he left for the road was the most dressed up and well-kept he'd been in so long...
The reason the scene im talking about gets me is the acting for sure, the broken up voice, the tone and shakiness, the way it's approached, it's just too perfect.
/blog, I just had to post this to be less crushed by it. Thanks for being here anon's.

dude... this, right here. Out of all the stuff that gets me in this thread, this is the big one for me. I grew up reading calvin and hobbes, it was the first stuff I was even able to read on my own. I went through all the comics for years, and it just worked out that I read this book last. I didn't even know that calvin and hobbes wasn't still coming out at that point, but when I read this, I cried like a fucking baby and somehow just knew that was the end of my heroes. Its like watching a good childhood friend die of cancer in their sleep. Tragic, but at least it was mostly painless and they had a good life. I'll always miss these two. God damn it. I miss being a kid.
>>
>>78892886

I actually just watched this for the first time the other day. I never disliked moral oral, but never really got into it, but man. So far, none of the rest of the episodes I've been watching have been as dark as this. Like, this just really hits home in so many ways. A lot of times it doesn't even seem like its trying to be funny. Its a pretty accurate representation of a broken home. And man, that ending... I just sat there for a few minutes afterward to collect myself. It wasn't even so much that it was really sad, just... hopeless

Basically the entire episode is a meta look at the way Batman shows and superhero shows in general tend to work.

>Batmite gets tired of the Brave and Bold show because he wants a new more darker and edgier cartoon. (Mirroring a lot of people that never gave BatB a chance just because it was more lighthearted.)
>His plan is to use his reality warping powers to make the show jump so much the shark that the executives would HAVE to cancel it.
>Ambush Bug continuously tries to stop him, countering every cliche trope Batmite tries to throw. A lot of crazy 4th wall breaking shenanigans happen.
>In the end Ambush Bug and Batman succeed in keeping the ratings, but the executives decide to pull the plug regardless.
>BatB gets replaced with a new CGI Batgirl show, which wasn't what Batmite hoped but "at least it's more serious and dark".
>Cue to him starting tod esappear, Ambush Bug appearing to explain that by cancelling BatB he basically doomed himself because his goofy character can't exist in this new serious universe. Everything fades into white.
>It cuts to a celebration in a studio with all the characters of the show, workers picking up backgrounds and objects like if they were props.
>Batman approaches Ambush Bug and asks him if it's really over. He answers that sadly yes but we shouldn't see it as a bad thing.
>"At least you can say you had a good run."
>"A great run"
>Batman turns to the camera as it pans out to show everyone like in >>78888695 and delivers this speech.
>"And until we meet again boys and girls, know that wherever evil lurks, in all its mirrored forms. Know that I'll be there with the hammers of justice to fight for decency and defend the innocent."
>"Goodnight"

When i was about 8 or so i was home alone watching some music video show on tv. One video was pretty much a re-enactment of how Laika was trained and sent to space to die and when it ended i cried hard, the hardest I think i've ever cried. My mom and sister came home just about when it ended and i just walked up to them and even though they asked over and over what was wrong I just couldn't tell them since i was crying so much. Just could say a few words "tv.. music video... dog... space".
It stayed with me many years and was now reminded of it.

Oh absolutely. I wouldn't even say they 'struck gold', they were just really good at writing any episode at the time. It's obvious the CC seasons were trying really hard to make their own emotional episodes and the emotional moments were decent, but they were dragged down by a plot that was half-assed at best. They weren't writing stories that included emotional moments, they were writing shitty plots to try and use as a vehicle for the emotional moments.

Right? You know what's weird, though. I've seen the same kind of deranged behavior in daycare providers, kindergarden teachers, and children's social workers. Why is it that we keep hiring these fucked up lunatics to work with children? It truly is a sad world. Hell, even parents can lose grip on reality and start playing with toys like a child around their children.

We really should replace them all with 14 year old teenagers off 4chan, they'd do a much better job.

CAD started as a 'comedy' gaming webcomic desperately trying to ape penny arcade.

when that didnt work, he threw in some comedy romance

when that didn't work, he had the character miscarry, leading to a grand total of 3 or 4 serious pages, before promptly dropping it and immediately going back to comedy.

also, these were his comments on the arc.

today, it's become a meme, but the loss comic itself is just a page that perfectly encapsulates just how shit CAD and tim buckley are.

Whenever Calvin's parents have these introspective moments, I always tear up. The comic does a very good job of juxtaposing Calvin's imagination of his parents as omnipotent forces with solemn reality. Those rare moments where Calvin's mom talks to Hobbes are especially poignant for me.

I don't know about you guys, but this scene tears me to shreds. Barely anything else does, but there's just something about throwing all of yourself into something you believe with all of your soul, and having the world just slap you down, that's far too realistic. I couldn't stand it as a child, I can barely stand it now.

I will go sailing no more.

Man I wish Trigun was /co/ related.

Maybe it's because I used to be a /tv/fag, but I was not impressed by the movie. There were too many things they missed in emulating the original films' atmosphere, and they really dumbed it down into an action film over a mythical character story. It's mirror-image of ANH would be more suited to a reboot, as with Abram's tolerable Star Trek movies, but are really lackluster if this is supposed to be a continuation of the series. I could write an essay about the problems I had with it, but I'm not that autistic so I won't.
I was impressed with Boyega's role and Kylo Ren, and Rey's actress was a qt even if her character was annoying. I didn't fall asleep in the theater like the Godzilla reboot, so that's a plus I guess. Better than the prequels/10

The most fucked up part of this documentary everyone is talking about for example isn't how the local police railroaded this guy into prison twice, its how they tricked his outright retarded nephew into confessing to a murder he was attempting to ask questions about.

Like I said, the painful part is watching a very clearly and somewhat severely mentally challenged individual get completely used by two ordinary adults.
Then the phone conversations with his mother afterwards where all he can say is "Yeah" because he doesn't know how else to respond. Then say "Its my fault because I'm stupid".

I mean, that was gutwrenching to watch.
>>
>>78908622
Especially with cases of child-killing, the police feel a huge pressure to get a quick conviction from the public. They also tend to make a quick theory of what happened upon viewing the crime scene, and then find additional evidence to fit their theory rather than changing their theory to fit the evidence.
Often times a mixture of this causes police to coerce suspects into making false confession, usually under duress bordering illegality. It's fucked up; not only do they put innocent men behind bars by doing this, but they also let the real killer walk.

Green Goblin returned first, Peter later in that story arc.

The same strain of mutation that runs through Norman, Peter, and Miles's blood makes them all immortal. They cannot die. The implications have yet to be expanded upon. Norman, deranged, started to think of these two as his "sons" and perfect creations and believes they have some sort of destiny... because Ult-Norman is fucking insane and schizophrenic as ever.

In the end Miles and Peter make Norman fuck off for the time being. He escapes, Miles watches over New York, Peter decides to remain "dead" to the public and goes with MJ to try and discover the truth about what happened to him while he was dead (he has no memory of it.)

And then the world ended, soo.... rip that plotline.

One of the first instances that brought to me the concept of death as a kid.

This was supposed to hit me a lot, but it didn't. The whole Inside Out was 7/10 for me, but i expected 9/10.

Because of shit like this, i cannot watch any cartoon movies with my wife :(

>>78917662
Same for me. I'm amazed at how much people seem to think of it, but I guess it just must resonate differently for different people.

I need to read the manga too bad there was no second season. That show is full of emotions. I like pretend what i would do in a protagonist position but i honestly don't know what i would have done differently.

How has this scene not come up yet?

Maybe because, in retrospective, the whole cartoon was full of mistakes that degrade that emotional scene.

It's been 15 years for me man. You gotta hold on to those memories tight and never let go. In the end it's all you got.

God damn i forgot about that also when batman sits with the girl named ace that is so powerful that all her power is destroying her and the govern, ent is afraid when she dies naturally shes gonna go nuclear and take out the city so they send in batman to kill her but instead of taking her out or trying to escape the potential destruction he sits with her holding her hand on the swing set until she dies

>Scrapper the cat-choker
>feeling emotional for cats
Unless you smile with glee when Mufasa died, I don't know how that applies to you.
>>
>>78918098

It's the emotional bond between a father and son. Even I can recognize that.

I can see where you'd say that. I saw his self-sacrifice coming before it happened. But I did NOT expect him to do the bad guy affirmation, that tore me to pieces, and still gets me ever time.

I prefer little moments of sadness sprinkled around. Resonates with me more because it kind of feels more like real life.

"And that was the first time I ever felt like I belonged"

I also like a show who's whole existence is to be whacky and over the time can bump it back and be real. Makes it even cooler.
