Not every film is made with them expecting to pull Star Wars numbers. This one feels more like it's going for the awards and will get money back when interest peaks as it starts popping up on nomination lists

It only cost 8 million, and it's by Charlie Kaufman, so it has some name value with him alone. Might make its budget back in theaters, so with DVD and VOD sales it will do fine, especially since it's loved by critics.

Kickstarter funded by independent studio, Starburns Industries, with animators working for pretty much pennies because its a Charlie Kaufman film. Paramount just happened to pick it up after it gained momentum in festivals.

In other words, don't think they're putting too much on the line here.

I just wish it was premiering in my area any time soon instead of like March.
