There's absolutely nothing wrong with leotard costumes and they are often the best costume the characters have ever had. The fact that today's artists and publishers are "ashamed" of them is just sad.

Pic related.
>>
>>78531197
They look like shit and everyone who thinks otherwise is wrong.
>>
>>78531201
this 100%, but the opposite
>>
>>78531201
>>78531197

Well it looks like we're at an impasse right now.
>>
They are ok for acrobats and ballerinas, but they are fucking awful for anyone that actually does any capering.
>>
I don't mind them, this growing need for everything to be realistic and practical is a bit too much, even for the guys. I have no problem with change, but certain people shouldn't be wearing segmented armor plating.
>>
>>78531197
They're okay for some characters, they look retarded on others

I've always hated that Psylocke costume
>>
>>78531201

I see the virgins are awake early today.
>>
>>78531550
>it's not good if I don't want to fap to it
yea okay
>>
>>78531516

Let's not kid ourselves, nobody gave a shit about Psylocke before she became the designated sex appeal of the X-Men, and now that they're trying hard to make her something else nobody gives a shit again.
>>
nothing wrong with a leotard but psylocke's is one of the worst

what the fuck is up with those random bands?
>>
>>78531620
This. Leptards are OK, but Pyslocke with the random extra bands? I liked her older costumes, from when she was still british, better.
>>
>>78531550

This is really immature.
>>
>>78531197
If you wanna convince people they're practical, go out and wear one yourself
>>
>>78531197

I love leotard costumes. It's those silly detached bands that get my goat.
>>
The worst thing about Psylocke isn't the costume, it's that nobody since Jim Lee ever drew her as an Asian. They just make her a generic caucasian with purple hair.

Wanda's my favorite leotard costume
>>
Is anybody else sick of Artgerm? He's like the new Alex Ross for normalfags. All his shit is the same and he can't portray motion to save his life.
>>
Psylocke is a mess in general. The race change thing totally derailed what was originally a pretty interesting character. Now she's just "hot asian chick".

She was hotter when she was a british chick with a huge ass
>>
>>78532774

Alan Moore Psylocke was interesting. Or well, Moore Betsy Braddock I should say. Only Claremont could come up with "Psylocke" as a code name.
>>
My dick demands more Psylocke
>>
>>78532752
Sameface galore, too. I'm fairly certain he models his faces on Charlize Theron.
>>
>>78532941
It's pretty good when you get the pun
>>
I'm okay with Leotard Psylocke if it's for espionage stuff or if the artist does a good job, UXF was really the only run I cared about that costume.
>>
>>78532774
>>78532941
I'd fully support "old" Betsy as a British Asian though.
>>
>>78533484
As a non-english-speaker: What's the pun?

The issue with some leotard costumes is they're just kind of lazy and bare. Psylocke's was definitely that.
>>
>>78534233

There's nothing wrong with simplicity. Carol's costume there is a great example of that.
>>
>>78534147
Lock and key. Psyche and psylocke

>>78534484
Yeah, Carol's is a great example of that, I don't feel Psylocke's is. I guess I feel there's just not enough going on, atleast Carol had a mask and the lightning bolt, all Psylocke had was weird boots and gloves.
After a while simple becomes simplistic.
>>
>>78534554
They both rocked the sash though
>>
>>78534772
The sash is usually a great accessory no matter what.
>>
>>78534788
Accessories are important.
Still think Psylocke needed more though.
>>
>>78531197
Nope. I want all heroes to have tactical gears.
>>
>>78531197
My issue, explicitly with Psylocke, is the arm and leg bands. There is no way to keep them in place. If they are tight enough to fit on her arm while she is flexing (ie bending her elbow at all) they would be loose with her arm straight. Same thing with the leg bands.

It's god damned stupid.
>>
>>78534899
Unstable molecules explains every costume

Cockrum never designed a bad costume.

Only one that got better was Storm when she became punk Storm, but that is just because slutty punk makeovers make my dick hard.
>>
>>78534554

Also Carol had more of a pants look instead of a thong
>>
>>78535011
She did, many times.

I'm glad they finally retconned this out honestly. Although the costume they replaced it with is just as bad.

That's an artist issue more than a design one.
>>
>>78535567
>Pymtron won't ever bang Tigra
Going to leap off nearest bridge.
>>
>>78534899
It's called elasticity. Otherwise costumes would have creases and folds everywhere.
>>
Is anyone really upset with these costumes or is it just a kneejerk reaction "just in case" someone gets angry?
>>
>>78536386
Seems like the latter. Christopher Priest was told he couldn't sue a joke in a Deadpool issue because it might be offensive to black people. He was told this by white editors

His theory what that they're more concerned about white people being offended on behalf of black people
>>
>>78536386
There are people who complain, but usually for the wrong reasons. Same as when people complain about "skintight" costumes. It's not the costumes that are the issue, it's how artists draw them.
>>
>>78536386

Well, one can never underestimate how deeply ingrained prudery and body-shaming is in American culture. It transcends the political spectrum, appearing in both right and left wing camps, among the religious and the secular. They gussy it up in different ways, but in the end it amounts to the same thing: that good, respectable people should be covered-up and desexualized for the betterment of society.
>>
>>78531197
Some of them are good, like the main Ms. Marvel costume.

Psylocke's though? It's fucking hideous, man.
Jim Lee is a terrible designer, always has been.
>>
>>78531558
>it's not ok unless it's a hijab

Ok
>>
>>78535469
2bh pham, I never really mind the whole leotard Robin look. I definetly prefer the newer ones yeah, but the leotard thing was so ridiculous, it worked for me.

358KB, 1656x710px
well Ive tried to make this point a lot of times but, yes the leotard is in itself fine as far as costumes go.

The issue has always been the more inane, often physics defying poses they're stuck in just to show ass

Yeah but that's mostly far and inbetween and only used to go LOL comics or some idiot trying to make a "point".
I still think the biggest issue with Psy's costume is a lack of anything really interesting.
>>
>>78537989
You're reaching pretty hard, anon.
>>
>>78538350
As are you.
>>
>>78538350
Funnily enough there have been costume redesigns done by people that eerily approach hijab levels.
>>
>>78531197
Agreed. And anyone who says impractical is a complete fucking idiot. Have you ever watched gymnasts? Or how about MAMA or wrestlers? They don't wear tons of clothes, they wear spandex because it's far too hot to wear anything else.

Only point you can make is high heels, but that's never the argument

>>78538633
Eh the gymnast argument just opens up a can of worms for why their tits should be more bound unless you want to argue it's some dumb unstable molecule but if you're arguing that there's no real point in arguing practicality since that's an easy answer. You'll find tons of performers who can perform in just about anything given the right amount of practice, compare that to characters who are unrealistically disciplined and able and it works to their advantage.
And compare to other impractical shit like periphery killing masks, unbalancing helmets, dragging flowing capes, bulky restricting armor, etc.
If you wanted to make a practical costume it'd just end up very boring and bland, and on top of that it'd probably still be impractical since artists are notoriously knowledgeable when it comes to performing in an outfit.
>>
>>78538330

and thats fair its more than a little bland.

I like the ninja thing and think they should stick with it.

They should probably go full ninja though. Face mask, baggy pants with the thigh slits, the whole shebang

MY MAN!
>>
>>78538951
It's not that their tits should be more bound, it's that they are all fake anyway. Women don't have breasts that big and they don't stay that high unless they use super reinforced bras or corsets. All it is is exaggeration of all characters, men and women. No man looks like comic characters unless they roid and neither does a woman unless they get implants.

Spandex aren't at all a problem, objectively, functionally and artistically. People are just blaming things that are not the object of their objection. They attack costumes and not exaggerated bodies. Both arguments are stupid though
