Where were you when SM/WW was kill?
Thanks for fixing your own mess, Johns
Can i say now how stupid SM/WW romance has been? Specially how it began?
I mean, WW brokje up with Steve because she feared for his life and thought he was helping the Justice League only to be close to her. Bitch, this man is a colonel. He has been working to the US army for years. Way before you ever entered his life. Get real.
Superman is good. I read about it there and then pirated SMWW to see what happened.
It seemed a little like a fakeout the way it was written (more like a break than a full breakup) but every other writer is running with it even in books that almost went out of their way to ignore that they were together so that pretty much cements it.
Yay. Now Superman can go back to having a bland relationship with the blandest character from his cast.
>Thanks for fixing your own mess, Johns
>Implying Jim Lee's misunderstood genius wasn't at work during the first year of JL
Dude, Superman/Wonder Woman was fucking bland and mediocre as hell. You never see Superman and Wonder Woman doing something cool. Either they're fighting Superman's villains or they're arguing over stupid shit just the way Superman and Lois always did.
Which is really a waste. Why not take the chance to have some slice of life moments here and there, some cute art and fun bits, some sexy scenes and so on? But nope. Let's waste the book over medciore fights and constant nagging. Because readers love seeing couples fight, am i right?
Why is Wonder Woman constantly cheating on Superman? What a fucking cunt. This is why i hate Wonder Woman. She should fucking die.
>WW hooks up with Clark
>looks suggestive at Captain Cold
>she'll probably get around to teasing a lantern at some point
>now she's hunting for aquacock
Why is she such a sloot?
>so many goddamn alternate stories where Lois is dead or something and Clark hooks up with Wonder Woman
>they do it in the main canon and it's boring or outright offputting
Can they just invent a new girlfriend for Superman, I just don't want to see him hurt anymore.
Why in no incarnation that I know of, why is Wondy not into chicks? I know even just tolerating a man is seen as blasphemy for the Amazons, but to date them, or love them?
I'm not trying to push a fetish (ironic considering Wonder Woman was made by a guy who had a bdsm fetish) but why isn't she into girls or at least bisexual?
Power Girl/Wonder Woman
>this is just Lobdell not reading what actually happened in the solo book
It doesn't matter. She kissed another man in the mouth while dating Superman. She's a whore that don't deserve Superman. She shouldn't even be a superhero. She's a terrible role-model.
>so many goddamn alternate stories where Lois is dead or something and Clark hooks up with Wonder Woman
They're also all bad. You either have Superman feeling miserable and settling for Wonder Woman because there's no better option or you've shit like Wonder Woman saving Superman's jizz in an urn for some stupid reason.
Everytime they pair Superman and Wonder Woman it's because they want to tell some "superheroes taking over humanity" story. It was the same in the New 52, they were going to do something with Wonder Woman trying to fix the world by force. This is why there was that issue where Superman and Wonder Woman goes to the middle east and break international laws, right before Trinity War
She's going to date Batman next, right? Bruce is coming back as Batman. She has to date him. It's just not fair for Superman to date her and not Batman. Batman has to have a ride on the Wonder Wagon. Those are the rules.
>tfw they end SM/WW but kill Steve and have Wonder Woman fuck Bruce (whose "history" with Diana was a plot point at the end of Forever Evil)
Well, he might change a bit. Become a softer Batman (AGAIN!), thus making Wonder Woman feel that she has to change Batman and turn him into a fierce tyrant. She's into that, right? Take sweet guys and goad them into ruling the world with an iron first.
This thread has proved that we all are idiots when it comes to relationships.
There is literally no one who's going to be a good match for either of them, and none of us can be convinced any other wise.
Did you even read Kingdom Come
Yeah, probably. Especially now when he'll need comfort after he regains memory and will need comfort because, omg!, being Batman is scary. And his future wife will be either dead or imprisoned. Wonderbats writes itself perfectly.
Superman should get together with Power Girl. It's not weird or anything. They're from different universe. It's okay, brah.
But in the context of claiming they're weak "these days" when we're talking about people he could be in a relationship with, it doesn't make sense. Why not just fix whatever it is you think is the issue with them instead of pretending like going out of his cast and pairing him with WW is the solution?
But generally I don't think any of them are really being poorly written right now outside of bad books like SMWW. At worst Perry is being a little overemotional about the whole thing and they shouldn't have painted Lois as a panicking rookie for the sake of drama to do the identity reveal.
I'm so glad that Wonder Woman no longer has the prefix of "Superman's Girlfriend" hanging over her head...
Sure the break-up will do her no favors but it's not like the relationship did either...
I would worry that she couldn't do both art and writing on a monthly schedule. And I kind of like her universe as it is, maybe just get more in that line and keep it separate from main continuity.
Failing that, Superman and an OC.
Someone new, preferably also Alien, slightly wild, and reasonably powerful. I like the idea of two superbeings dating and heroing.
I don't like Lois, I think that narrative is stale and has been explored.
Wonder Woman should NOT date another Superhero. Honestly I think she should not have a permanent partner.
DC is fucking retarded for starting this in the first place. Starting then stopping it is the worst thing they could have done.
Never happening would be best. Happening then staying a thing till reboot is not ideal but better than this being exs thing that is going to be toxic for every interaction between them forever.
>being exs thing that is going to be toxic for every interaction between them forever.
Seems more likely that everyone will pretend like it never happened at all. They were already trying to sweep it under the rug while they were dating even to the point where after the first couple of months I don't think any book outside of SMWW ever mentioned it and you didn't see DC tweeting about it or anyone bringing it up in interviews anymore. Hell /co/ didn't even notice that they broke up until today.
>Hell /co/ didn't even notice that they broke up until today.
There were a few threads when it actually happened, but most people dismissed it as a ploy to create cheap drama. Superman just goes "I don't love you anymore" and she goes we will talk later" and that was it.
This confirms it, hence the uproar.
Superman should have a weird, romantic adventure with Zatanna. Him constantly out of his element and angry at all the magical hijinks, but also being a stand up dude who continually impresses her with his desire to do the right then.
Fuck no! She debuted in the Detective Comics and she's always shown as either Batman's childhood friend or past lover. She belongs to Batman. None of the cross-over bullshit.
You want a magical character for Superman? Take Vixen. She debuted in Action Comics amd they used to be close friends.
pre-Crisis Clark will die and New 52 Clark will take his family
and what did this godawful ship accomplish besides making both characters less likable in the long run?
terrible, fucking terrible.
I just read that post as them not being nice was mark against them, which I thought was unfair to the characters' positive traits. If I misinterpreted that post, then I apologize.
knock this shit off you faggots
likability mostly, Supes/Wondy came off as a couple of unlikable cunts suffering and/or using each other. The writers tried to sell it off as a "power couple" but it felt more like they were trying to sell us incest while calling it cool.
They have done Superman/Zee before, Busiek hinted at sexual tension between them, Alex Ross had that moment when Zee almost died in space and Clark gives her the kiss of life, also Smallville.
Well to start off you'd try to keep them in character and focus on what you think is appealing about the couple and their interactions. It can be enjoyable to see people bouncing off each other at times in normal situations without any forced drama and constant fights. Shit should be cute, basically.
Superman started by fucking Wonder Woman! He broke the rules! Now it is a free-for-all buffet!
Batman/Lois Lane, Superman/Catwoman, Aquaman/Martian Manhunter, Flash/Carol, Green Lantern/Iris, Cyborg/Mary, Billy/Platinum...
I just hate it when people try to imply bad things about Zatanna. She's one of DC's best characters and it breaks my heart to see that. She's so pure and kind-hearted. Pls no bullying.
so who was responsible for this godawful shitfest of a romantic dalliance?
was it Lee or Johns? Because someone is responsible for this fucking garbage. Shit was almost as bad as Trevor Barnes.
Given that Johns ships Clark/Lois and other classic couples fairly strongly and focuses on their importance while writing characters' solos, I would say the blame doesn't lie with him on DC forcing all of them apart in the early new 52
Though you can blame him for actually writing the issue it happened in I guess
Oh. I get it now
we'll have to meet each other halfway at a threeway.
I at least blame him for the shitty way it started. Wonder Woman blowing Steve off because he got hurt and she thought the only reason he worked for the League was because he used his position to remain near her was total bullshit. It made WW come off as a self-absorbed egotistical bitch.
Then in the same night while Steve was grieving and hurt in his hospital bed WW and Superman shared a kiss. Such a fucking bullshit.
That is plausible given that he did have a couple of years planned on Superman apparently. Though all the hype around the kiss and shit when it happened made me feel like Lee wanted a big moment to have his art whored around.
Steve believed in the Justice League and did everything he could to protect them from the government. Wonder Woman not only blew him off stating that he was working with the team only because of their relationship, but she also asked for the government to substitute him thus firing him.
What's next for her? Try to convince the Leaguers to kick Superman out of the JL?
Doubt it. I don't think there's anything there beyond physical attraction (Clark is basically a smiling Bruce). At least with Bats there's a sense of equality or challenge and a mutual respect, with Supes it'd be like him lecturing a child.
As for Bruce/Lois, she's not exciting enough and would pressure him to change too much, and he's too much of a closed book and would spend too much time gallivanting on rooftops.
>Thanks for fixing your own mess, Johns
He is responsible for shameful pages like this.
>Flash/Carol, Green Lantern/Iris
It had to have happened at least once.
>Just in time for the movie
I. FUCKING. HATE. SYNERGY
It was >>78229565
Didio said around the time of Trinity War that Wonder Woman being "royalty" would try to change the world by ruling (just like Injustice)
Remember that Bruce and Lex were worried about what the pairing of the two most powerful beings would mean for humanity, and Booster Gold apparition indicated that they couldn't be together because of something like that.
Then the pairing became popular and profitable because of shippers... and they decided to drop that idea.
Now that nobody really cares about them, they're either letting Johns finish it, or trying to trick people into believing it's over just to gain traction.
Oops... seems like he didn't directly stated it, but it was implied
>A fan asked about Wonder Woman in comparison with Superman as the social crusader and Batman as Robin hood figure. Wonder Woman is royalty, and he asked if DiDio could see a situation where she would decide that her place is amongst the rulers of the earth rather than trying to it in with humanity, and would this bring her into conflict with the rest of the Trinity. DiDio looked stunned at this, and was unable to answer for a little bit before attempting to bat the question to one side. He eventually told us that as the US doesn’t have royalty then it would be unlikely to happen, but he waited too long to respond and he doesn’t have Bob Wayne’s evasion skills. The general feeling from the audience was that the question had inadvertently strayed too close to plans for Wonder Woman, either in her own title, in Justice league or in the upcoming Trinity War.
I don't think it's a trick. I mean you had Yang saying shit like this
> Nrama: Wonder Woman got a mention in the last issue. And in other Superman books, he's dealing with their relationship a little more than in this book. But you've got a team-up coming up in Superman between him and Wonder Woman. Does that address his relationship with her?
>Yang: Yes, absolutely. Wonder Woman and Superman's relationship is obviously central to the Superman/Wonder Woman book. Pete Tomasi is a great writer, and he's taking the bulk of that. He's dealing with most of that.
>But Wonder Woman is such an important character to Superman, both as a colleague in the Justice League and as a former romantic partner.
>But yes, she'll be showing up in Superman, and she'll play an important role as we move forward.
before the JL issue even came out.
Martian Manhunter "died" and his consciousness turned into four separate forms.
One of them happens to be a qt arabic girl who wants the Aquadick
You should read the new Martian Manhunter. It's pretty good.
Steve is so based that he can kuck Superman? Damn. It's for the best, both Diana and Clark deserve better.
>former romantic partner
That settles it, then
And it's in the "current cronology" (powerless Superman)... because a lot of people is saying Darkseid War takes place before the solo books and that they are still together in them
except the movie is set in the 20s so even if she was with him, he's likely dead now. And I doubt they made a kid, and we all know that for a relationship to really matter in comics you need a kid together.
>because a lot of people is saying Darkseid War takes place before the solo books
I think that timeline doesn't really matter, but it could be after too since many of them are going back to their old costumes in a few months.
obviously she meets the grandfather in the past and then real Steve in the present
Johns is closely involved with the movie
He knows what to do
>Implying that she wasn't thinking about Steve every time she was with Superman in bed.
When will you autist fucks realize you're not going to get the name back, no matter how much you cry. They're movie level brands now, there's no going back from that. I love the character but you're getting as bad as batfags.
>The general feeling from the audience was that the question had inadvertently strayed too close to plans for Wonder Woman, either in her own title, in Justice league or in the upcoming Trinity War.
>Didio looked stunned
Sounds more to me like the question was so stupid he didn't even know what to say
They never had chemistry, they were 2 attractive people that have the same work and some things in common, thats enough to have a relationship but not to make it last.
Batman and superman are made for each other
Anon is probably talking about how "Shazam" felt like an entirely different character, but now he is more like what he used to be (when he was Captain Marvel). Not that changing the name was the mess.
>Batman and superman are made for each other
How well-known is superman in the current continuity?
I mean, I know he's depowered and all, but I get the sense that even before it, he wasn't the well-established champion of justice he was before the wipe.
How long has it been, canonically, since he first started superheroing?
If you actually read comics instead of shitposting you'd know that originally they took away Billy being powered by gods (ie he was essentially the wizard) and now that has been reintroduced into the mythos during Darkseid War
It's very sexy look. Always wanted a middle-aged Supes. At least I can live bi-curiously thru Batfleck.
>they took away Billy being powered by gods (ie he was essentially the wizard) and now that has been reintroduced into the mythos during Darkseid War
no they didn't.
It was implied and then confirmed in Darkseid War, when he received new gods as his power source since he was cut off from the older ones.
>Future Booster only told him he had to stop it.
Are you retarded?
That was Pre-New 52 Booster and he said "NO" because he was being bounced between Earths trying to find his way back to Post-Crisis Earth.
But it no longer existed and he became Waverider.
READ Futures End next time idiot
Wow, that's a lot longer than I thought.
I keep wanting to get into comics proper, as opposed to just buying one-offs like Kingdom Come, but it seems so dense to get into.
Also, I have difficulty getting invested into the central cannon when I KNOW it will only ever end with the universe getting destroyed again. They never get a happy ending.
That's what really bugs me about the reboots. Not that they do the continuity over again, I get that. But that they explicitly destroy the old one. The original Golden Age supes wasn't just left alone to continue his life forever on, he got his world destroyed and his wife killed.
Why can't they just say "And that universe continued on in its adventures, while we close the book and turn to a new one"? Why does it have to be a bad end for literally everyone?
I missed any implications of it then, since it honestly seemed like they omitted it and decided to put it back in during DW. Maybe they didn't intend to keep it out and it it would have gotten developed in his ongoing if Johns ever got around to writing it.
Thats what i mean asswipe, preflashpoint booster told new52 booster that their pairing was an ominous sign when they were standing in front of the screening showing a fucking photo of them kissing
Fuck off, johns got rid of the pantheon and the wizard and they got back, the meaning of the name.is back and thats great, johns movie script is slowly being retconned and theres nothing bad with that. Billy only needs his real bame back and raceswap shazam and we are fine. Theres no implications about gods before the one shot.
That's not even the same anon talking to you and my point about you autist fags being butthurt about the name stands. You've gotten to the point where he's not "the real Captain Marvel!" and you won't be satisfied until he's completely the same as pre-reboot.
You're not getting the name back. Now shut the fuck up. Blame Marvel or DC, just don't keep living in denial.
meh, until they call him Captain Marvel Johns can fuck off.
