>We're The Very Best At Being Bad Guys...

It's the end of the second arc.
Future has one last card to play.
The Crossed have set their terms.
And it'll be hell to pay if it goes wrong.

This is-
Crossed +101 #12: Futility
>>
And here we go...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1FgpBxXho4

I haven't recreated the glossary yet, but I'll do it before the next arc for sure.
>>
>>
>>
Oh, nothing is ever easy
>>
>>
Pretty big risk besides
>>
>>
Haven't we all missed this guy?
>>
>>
>>
They could have avoided all of this
>>
>>
>>
Fuck yeah old man
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
Albino has balls, that's for sure
>>
>>
>>
Huh, he was technically a security risk. Bummer.
>>
>>
Is that the end of the Seven Dwarfs then?
Long live their memory.

>>78223738
Yeah indeed.
>>
....what you gonna do Future?

To be continued, for now.
NEXT ARC - CROSSED WAR
(and another time skip)
>>
>>78223730
was it every satisfactorily explained how the crossed were able to think and plan? evolution?
>>
>>78223793
Training and selective breeding.
They're still berserkers, but they're treated as low level grunts while the brain trust control things.
>>
>>78223805
brain trust? I dip in and out of crossed, is there a leadership?
>>
>>78223820
Yeah, I don't know if you want to read +100 so I'll not spoil the meat bits of it, but there is a leadership, because it's been established in several arcs that unique brain chemistry and wills can cause the virus to act different.
To sometimes not even work at all.

So, that's where +100 kicks up from, someone had a big idea for a caste system.
>>
>>78223764
Sleepy and Sneezy are still out there. Grinbuyer and Jokermercy too.
>>
I like the albino guy but we all know this isn't going to work out.
>>
>>78223863

I wonder where the Born Crossed are ranked.
>>
>>78223939
>Sleepy and Sneezy
Oh damn, forgot all about those two.
It's going to be hard to get at them, Jokemercy is at least smart enough to not go around with these negotiators.

>>78223971
Future has a point, they have uninfected on their side, could be anyone.
>>
>>78223980
We've seen born crossed and they seem to be pretty low, I guess it depends on how much you stand out.
>>
>>78223992
They gotta be the most "controlled" of the Cross though. Jokermercy went through the Beau Salt ritual/test when he was a little kid, so maybe he was one of the first born.
>>
>>78223971
Police-state run by ruthless burn-crazy trackjacks vs cross faced murder rape cannibals seeking improved race relations.

Ha. Ha. Cunt. Ha.

Who are the real monsters?
>>
>>78224026
I given how different tribes all follow the teachings of the Saltman, I figure that while everyone gets the test to see if they're going to be mindless or not, you're only going to be taken serious if you live at the Capital.

What little we saw of it had people talking in full sentences and clothing.
>>
>>78224074
>seeking improved race relations
via human sacrifice
>>
>>78224076
>Crossed Capital
Around what issue was that?
>>
>>78226022
5 and 6 mainly
>>
>>78226034
Thanks! The early issues of this were so weird with the slang that I ended up skipping a ton of them. This arc got me back into it though.
>>
>>78223431
Wow thanks OP
Been looking for this one for a while now
Any idea when the next one is out?

>>
>>78230551
That's Jokemercy
>>
>>78230551
I saw that cover in the previews, kind of a spoiler cover isn't it? It looks like they are able to catch him and interrogate him at some point.
>>
>>78223737
>>78223754
What is the point of releasing the ostriches?
>>
>>78223782
Thanks for the storytime as usual Dave
Say have you read the latest badlands? Jesus christ what a mess
>>
>>78231371
To set fire to the hordes of crossed who weren't caught in the initial blast.
>>
>>78231514
God I hated the latest Badlands arc, you knew right from the start the good brother was going to get literally cuckolded
>>
>>78231514
Max Bemis is honestly giving lapham and hines a run for their money as the worst.
He's just awful.

>>78231552
The new arc the same guy is writing started today as well. Total trash.
>>
>>78223666
Why not just post this on /aco/? Not only porn, Ive seen some story times there for more mature comics

>>78231575
What kind of fucking build up was there for the girl to just flat out say that she hated the shrink with all of her heart? And why was she the good one in that again?

And yeah, I'm really quite enjoying his new storyline of "All Comic Book fans are rapists"

Seriously, what the fuck is this guy's problem?

But at least we know Smokey made it to Florida
>>
>>78231661
I don't mind posting it censored and there's already a good following on here.
/aco/ just really doesn't offer anything.

>>78231702
It's like the guy wants to write Spurrier tier black comedy/meta-commentary...and just has no grasp of what his topics are.

The smokey arc could be cool, hopefully Gage is more than a one trick pony
>>
>>78231514
What's the latest badlands story about?
>>
>>78231955
Two parter about a group of comic fans keeping a female creative as a sex slave
There's some commentary in there too...and it's just a completely bad
>>
>>78231702
>Smokey is back
Oh shit, well that's a pleasant surprise at least
>>
>>78232043
That sounds so horrible that it might actually achieve a kind of grandeur.
>>
>>78232170
The only interesting bit about it is that I'm fairly sure that the solicits called the two-parter a romcom of sorts.
Well, considering his last arc...less grandeur more "wow, this is incompetent even by these standards"
>>
So, things may yet turn around, but is Albino Guy the first in Crossed history to successfully defend a perimeter against an all-out Crossed assault? And intelligent ones, no less.
>>78231575
Honestly, while bad, the shrink story was nowhere near as bad as Hines's Writer's Retreat or that god-awful Captain Crispy crap. It's a juvenile attempt at psychology, Hines and Way at their worst are juvenile attempts at porn.
>>
>>78232043
Yeah, there is commentary but it is pretty much pushed aside.

So all we know is a group of comic fans decide they should hold a women hostage and have sex with her. I suppose we skipped the weeks of them debating her rights etc.

Idk, i feel like this arc would have been better as an experimental thing. Not digging it too much now.
>>
>>78232262
The most insulting thing about Writer's Retreat was they squandered the Masque of the Red Death parallels on such a shitty story.
>>
>>78232262
You're probably right, the badness of it is likely caused by a recency effect.
but I do feel like the Shrink arc is kinda close to Writer's Retreat, in terms of construction of the plot and it's characters at least.

>>78232265
They do it pretty much immediately as well.

>>78232329
Avatar editor's been dropping the ball recently on the most basic shit.
>casserole
>>
>>78232314
There are a lot of issues with the current badlands arc. A supermarket near a comic store, sure but the food lasted a year? So much of it would have been looted by others.

Also, I usually wonder if Crossed just go to the markets and piss and shit on all the food. I mean, that is what I would do if I was crossed. Contaminate and waste all the food.

With the way it ends, we know what is going to happen. The two truck guys come in, get into a fight with the comic guys, the commotion attracts the crossed and they all die.

>Bravo Max

At least with shrink it was a slow build up, although there were a lot of just weird things with the writing.

>>78231529
Seems like a waste of food.

>>78223666
That was his plan, pretend as if they were going to go along with the deal, hopefully put enough people out there that were spies and get rid of them all. I like this guy. Too bad the old balloon man had to go.

>>78231702
The new smokey arc sounds like a good one. I think Gage wrote an interesting story with the Quisling arc. I am just not looking for Fernando Heinz's art style.
>>
So I'm reading the shrink arc.

...How is it even humanly possible to write something this awful?
>>
>>78232262
>So, things may yet turn around, but is Albino Guy the first in Crossed history to successfully defend a perimeter against an all-out Crossed assault? And intelligent ones, no less.
Cava held off a few attacks in WYWH

>Captain Crispy

Was it just me or did anyone else feel like that was a shitty rip off of Family Values?

All in all though, none of them really made me go "wait...what?" like Gore Angels or that one with the ultra bad-ass walking cliche action hero.
>>
>>78233198
>ultra bad-ass walking cliche action hero
Which one was that?

>>78233063
You have to think you're not supposed to write something good.
>>
>>78233219
>Which one was that?
62-70
Guy goes to kill a pornographer that had raped his daughter, then shit get weird and he ends up leading marines to fight back against the crossed.
>>
>>78233410
That sounds so terrible.
>>
>>78223666

Oh, they have secret codes. Kind of neat.

>>78231702

>And yeah, I'm really quite enjoying his new storyline of "All Comic Book fans are rapists"

We "Intimidation Game" now.
>>
>>78233424
The art was even worse...
>>
>>78233410

That storyline even have an official title? I'm trying to get all of the arcs sorted, and the only ones I haven't dug up names for are it and #57-61.
>>
>>78233459
It isn't a code per se, it is a rhyme they taught the kids in order to make sure they can blend into human society.
>>
>>78233485
Some arcs don't get proper titles, so most just go by common fan nicknames when nothing else pops up.
>>
>>78233493
Wait, but that person wasn't infected?
Are these the Accepted those pale freaks were ranting about in the woods?
>>
>>78233424
I think he forgot he was writing crossed and just wrote a zombie comic and colored over shit at the end.

20KB, 450x400px
>>78233507

Yeah, the solicits and collected editions didn't give them names like they have a few others, so I guess I'll just make something up to satiate my organizational OCD/autism.
>>
>>78233485
Is there official stuff for all the obscure stuff? Grave New World, Stumptown, etc.?
>>
>>78233722
The first badlands is called "Badlands"
>>
>>78233520
No they were most likely infected. They were just send in disguise to infiltrate one of the settlements. Probably from the Albino guy's camp.

Or you could be right, non infected crossed spies. Humans raised as crossed but not infected.

>>78233507
I just call that arc the Gavin Land Revenge Arc. I have no idea why it had to span nearly 10 issues. Seemed like keeping ito to 3-4 would have made sense.

Simple concept, guy wants revenge, crossed outbreak. In a world of savage monsters, a man pushed to the edge is the real monster etc.

Instead we got an incoherent mess.
>>
>>78233785
>Or you could be right, non infected crossed spies. Humans raised as crossed but not infected.

That's what the "Rejected" said
>>
>>78233785
>>78233520
They were uninfected, it even gets brought up a few times that there are literal uninfected spies in the camps. If they could hide the rash that well the Jokermercy wouldn't have had to burn the shit out of himself.
>>
reading bump
>>
>>78223737
Aw, not the burds.
>>
>>78233732

I got everything there from either the books themselves, or the solicits on websites that still have them up. Ex:

>PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Amanda returns as David Lapham unleashes a punishing tale of misery at the hands of the giddily maniacal menace joined by stunning new artist Miguel Garrido! Fan favorite Crossed Psychopath survivor Amanda lost more than her hand when she escaped from Lorre…she lost her sanity. But she's found that it takes a lunatic to survive in a Crossed world. Artist Garrido delivers a vision of grueling horror that will shake you to the core as he and Lapham kick-off the four issue story "Livers."

>PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: We're all going slightly mad! Join DAVID LAPHAM as he returns to fan favorite survivor Amada in a new gut wrenchingly disturbing tale of the Crossed. It takes a lot to shake you from the safety of insanity. But when a tribe of strangely religious Crossed appear following a vile infected pope it rocks Amanda to the core. And the survivors of Base M become the victims of something that defies the very nature of the Crossed. "Breakdown" will defile your sanity in ways you never thought possible.

>>78233758

I know, but muh redundancy so I used the title of the first issue's story.
>>
>>78235180
>>
>>78231702

Smokey is Pimp.
>>
>>78236645
>>
Spurrier is going to be writing the 3rd arc for Crossed +100. Hopefully we can see a competent human army take on the crossed.

>Smokey and his Bandits

... Heh.
>>
>>78231702

hopefully we see how he fucked up, Salt Man made his mark on Crossed-Earth but Smokey didn't

or maybe he did? What if he became a disciple of Salt-Man?
>>
>>78238051
Smokey and Patient Zero show that Saltman isn't unique in terms of mental stability, maybe there are more than one?
>>
>>78238051

Smokey doesn't strike me as the kind of person who would be okay with being under anyone.

I also have doubts that they'll ever use Salt outside of +100.
>>
>>78238392
Yeah, the closest tie it has to the main anthologies was a flashback to the first mini
>>
>>78238392

I don't know, I mean, Gage is fine with using the other writers build-up, I mean, after all he's picking up the twins.
>>
>>78238657
From what I heard, the Badlands arcs was supposed to have a bit of crossover or nods to other arcs, but they scrapped the idea.
