This ain't Jojo, the beginning of any story arc makes a decent enough jumping on point - the characters are really the only thing that is retained from story to story - basically just hit the ""back to the start of this case" button and start reading.

Allison's a fair enough story teller that if something from a prior case is brought up it'll be explained enough that you'll get the gist of things.

(note that Blossom for instance has only been introduced in the current storyline)

I'd really recommend starting from where you got off, though. It's just a good read in general, and some of the characters go through some pretty important arcs in recent cases. The Case(s) of the Unwelcome Visitor and the Modern Men are of particular importance to certain main characters.
