I'm just happy most of the cartoon cameo appearances and fart jokes are gone now. I would remember it existed every few months and catch up, but the Missing Moments segments have me reading every day. Ash's prose is really simple, but it's charming and really elevates the main comic.

I feel archival readers are going to suffer though, because I really do feel the most rewarding reader experience is alternating between the main comic arc and the relevant MM stories, which is hard to do unless it's updating in real time.

Also, I totally adore the artistic improvement Yamino has made. Let's face it, when the comic first started it was sub-par at best. Claire most of all looks so much better nowadays. When she and Marie have the talk at the start of Chapter 7, she looks... just, so good, I guess. I hated how the twins looked at the beginning of the comic. Not only do they look like actual humans with actual eyes, they're good looking humans with good looking eyes.

It just warms my heart to see Yamino getting good.

Likewise. I think a lot of it is she uses Manga Studio instead of flash to ink, and it looks a lot more natural as a result. Her colors are the biggest improvement.

Her next hurdle is composition. She's got a good grasp of layout, but everything feels so small and empty. The huge shard didn't really read as that large because she hasn't quite gotten the hang of scale yet. You get a clear read, but all the negative space around the shard in the bottom panel just make it unimpressive looking. She would have stronger panels if she used value to highlight the important elements rather than limiting the number if elements in the frame.

It's pretty obvious the author decided to completely shift the plotline halfway through, once the "reincarnated witch savoir" idea and backstory got invented. Look at how the pregnancy plotline got resolved. It feels really jarring, especially if you try to reconcile the overall timeline. For example, try to figure out how old Catherine and Oscar must be. Also trying to reconcile their complete non-interaction during the nun chapters with the backstory from Missing Moments, it's pretty obvious.

Also the author's intent to shove in as many minorities in as possible is blatant.

I'm going to place my bets on Oscar and Catherine's age at about 25 - 35. Sure, that's a pretty wide berth, but it's the best I can do while feeling honest. I figured at the start of Oscar's storyline where she first met Catherine, she was around twelve. By the time she gets into the royal guard, she's fifteen. That gives us two decades maximum for the SC storyline to start.

As for the minorities, I'm cool with it. It gives them a massive pool of backgrounds to choose from for characters, so everyone will feel unique and spread out. And, shameful as it might be to say, Oscar's presence makes me feel good about myself.

The witch plot is a better story, but they should have hard stopped and restarted, in my opinion. As it is now, half the comic is just wasted space on a plot that goes nowhere.

About what age, era, whatever, is Sister Claire set in relative to our universe? Electricity is most certainly present and used, from electric fans to televisions, but there's also themes of medieval time periods here. Was wondering if anyone could clear this up, or could at least talk about it.

Actually, that resolves a few chapters after Ash has stepped in. I'll go ahead and spill it for you below, so spoiler warning if that wasn't obvious enough.

After saving Catherine from a near death from being fully possessed by Grimm via a sort of mind-melding thing, Claire's stomach returns to it's original state, the aura of the supposed child and Claire beginning to fuse. My suspicion is that Claire was using a sort of healing method similar to Clementine's on people around her, but instead of horns initially, it took the form of a pregnancy. As it stands, Claire is very much horned, so it might also be that the spirit of Clementine herself was the pregnancy and finally fused together with Claire.

Hope that wasn't too much to swallow.
