It's a well known bug at this point. When you get near the end of the level (the cave where the generator is) stick to the right side of the cave until you come to an archway covered by rocks. Get beside the left side of the archway and keep jumping until you can jump over it. Once you get there go to the end of the cave and start jumping on the right side and you'll come to a hole that leads out of the bounds of the map. You'll find an artifact and you get to run around.

There's also one in level two that I just found. After killing the first boarbatusks, go into the cave on the right. You'll see some green crystals on the wall, go under them and keep jumping straight up and you'll be out of bounds again, free to jump around the castle walls.

Yes and no, problem with that show is that most of them were too big (snake, centaur, spider, ogre) or too small (harpy, slime, doppelganger, cyclops) and not nearly enough regular sized (mermaid, zombie). In general, shows in Madoka's genre are like Saturday morning cartoons, something aimed at both kids and adults, much like Kamen Rider or something like Power Rangers would be. Madoka's target audience, a "general anime fan," is someone who has at least seen one of those shows at one point, which applies to almost anyone who has seen an anime growing up. The only thing with the potential for more mainstream appeal would be something of the same genre as SnK or Naruto.
Saying Madoka is an otaku program because it was intended for "general anime fans" is like saying Fantasia is for hipsters because it was made for people who like Disney movies.
"Otaku" doesn't imply general anime fan, it implies niche, or severely dedicated anime fan, which the series was not aimed at. Otaku works typically contain lots of references to other works or tropes only consumers of copious amounts of anime would recognize. Madoka specifically lacks many of these.
