You're Not Yelping is quite Cartman-centric. But basically, I agree. He has rolled over and allowed the PC change to take place, just taking advantage of the situation when he could. That's because this season, more than any other before it, has been about the whole town, so of course the main kids' screen time has suffered.
I think it's telling that they were in Sponsored Content only for like two minutes, and that's the episode where the actual threat of the season was revealed. This story just isn't about them. Although it looks like Kyle at least is going to be important in the finale (probably Stan too, and maybe Cartman).
