I just finished reading all 10 volumes of Serenity. I really enjoyed them, but I can't find anymore volumes. Are there any more online, or just the 10?
Well that lame. I guess I'll dump some of the first volume.
I remember when we story timed it last Easter. I enjoyed it, certainly wasn't the worst Christian oriented media I've seen. I think the problem for having a good christian story is that the only two ways you can tell it effectively is to be nonfiction and discuss the theology and faith, or have not directly focused on Christianity and have christian themes like Narnia or LOTR. The biggest problem these things have is when they try to be hip. I guess another problem is that considering the media is primarily composed of Jews and atheists christian creators have less resources.
still I liked serenity, didn't care for the overfocus on her friend who is implied to be gay. I thought that was a big problem i had, its so subtle, I didn't really pick up on it but it was there and not resolved. I think the author shoudl have just ignored that entirely or show her overcome it by resisting temptation. Instead its just awkward at points.
Still I'd love to see more christian stuff.
Yea same here. She really reminds me of a girl I used to date. If I could go back..
Well I mean, seeing as the other characters had their own issue they dealt with, her friend, forgot her name had a good one, it could have dealt with her being too controlling and judgmental possibly. Also the love triangle in this was insufferable. It should have ended with her accepting she wont get him and then finding another guy. Pic unrelated
I think God's not Dead stole the plot from this.
I really like it. I don't like some of the later ones where half of the volume is some kind of play.
The teacher with the fucking hook hand always get me.
Yeah, I mean, I'm a Christian so its nice to see something I can relate to like this, but again, having an overtly Christian comic/any form of media is very hard to pull off as it can look so corny and forced. But for what this is, i really like it, it may not be my genre as I generally prefer fantasy, sci-fi stuff but it has a lot of heart and passion into it. I think the dialogue is actually pretty good. Any recommendations for Christian themed work, comic movie or otherwise?
this is the end of the first half of volume one, so I think I might stop here. unless someone wants me to keep going.
It was kinda weird. Maybe the guy who wrote the comic was going to elaborate on it more but never got the chance?
That's it for volume 1. If you want you can download the rest of them here
Thanks, don't wanna spend the rest of the night on this thread, God bless.
