All-New Sniktbubette storytime.
What's the over/under on more headpatting?
for the people worry about the number of x-tittles.
I have done a re-count, in december, each week will be getting 2.5 x-book ( i say 2.5 because some avengers books still have a good amount of mutants ).
While the inhumans get 2 books only each week.
>now we are lucky we get 1 a week
>Old Man Logan
>Extraordianry X-men (double shipping)
>X-men: Worst X-man Ever
Stop acting persecuted. There'll be two x-books a week once they all launch since most aren't launching until January, which applies to half of Marvel's line.
Laura becoming Wolverine doesn't really have anything to do with Secret Wars.
Wolverine lost his healing factor a few years ago then died last year. Then there was a weekly series called Wolverines that was basically about who would inherit the title, starring Mystique, Sabretooth, Daken, Laura and a bunch of OCs. By the end, Laura basically becomes the new Wolverine but doesn't adopt the name yet. During the 8 month timeskip after Secret Wars, she formally adopts it and becomes the new Wolverine and here we are.
Short version: Logan died. Laura took the name to honor his legacy.
Rogue is leading the team, Cable is joining the team, and Gambit is confirmed to be part of the regular cast but won't be joining the team formally because he doesn't want to be tied down, Quicksilver, mutant or not, is as much an x-character as he is an Avenger (unlike Wanda who is 99% Avenger), and Deadpool, another x-character, is funding the team.
Even if you discount Deadpool and Quicksilver, that's still 3 mutants.
Obviously it's not purely an x-book, but if you care about x-characters, it's got 'em.
Of course that's mostly because Cable is one of my favorite characters.
>Old Man Rogers
Spreads actually still even, Cable and Gambit just aren't in the first arc.
>marvel is treating their other franchises much better
Ask a Thor fan that. Or a Captain America fan. Or an Inhumans fan. Or a FUCKING FANTASTIC FOUR FAN.
No they are not "treating them better." X-fags just think they have it worse than everyone else just because their characters don't appear on shitty third party posters that only casuals buy.
Or a Guardians of the Galaxy fan. X-fags got free from Bendis and they just start bitching twice as much. I sure as shit would take Lemire over him on Guardians any day. I'd rather have Hopeless or Bunn on Star-Lord than Humphries.
Nigga pic related is a Luger
Tasky is holding a mauser c96
Ya know, the broomhandle mauser.
hey guardians is still getting "guardians 3000"
The only reason i decided to read inhumans is pic related but then i read war of kings and was cool how BB btfo Vulcan, anyway i am actually excited for the teen inhuman book starring Crystal.
>want to read about the royal family ruling an alien society
>get Medusa keking Black Bolt with Crystal's ex and Beast the Race Traitor hogging screentime
I don't think the Inhuman books are bad. They're just not the Inhuman books I wanted.
The keking must be stopped though.
The roster for the book is Guardians 1000 + 2000 + 3000 except without Kitty because only Bendis is allowed to use her.
It's going to have the same problem the latter half of the DnA run had: too many characters.
>mfw Taylor will make x-23 fight Cho hulk at some point.
I am hype
I really hate how cheap dying is for people who are not the main characters. Am I supposed to getting hyped for the fight? I just get depressed for the shitty death those characters suffered.
And I'm nt even going to mention that he didn't shoot Laura, as if he had any reason do not do so.
Damn, I wanted to story time this. I would've called it:
Generic protagonist woman on her non-lethal adventures #2 story time.
Is he aware that there is an organization called The Facility that's quite important to X-23? Because using the word when talking about an unrelated research lab is kinda stupid.
Anyway, this is boring as hell. Gotta love how the writer looked at the X-Men animated series and thought to himself: Yeah, Wolverine should only ever want to tackle people, that's what people want to see.
Marve lis giving everything to Guardains of the Galaxy. It's a succesful growing franchise with their own office and 6 books only related to the Guardains including one exclusively done for the ungrateful bastard fans like you.
She got captured to easily
The fucks with that fire in her room, either she's dumb or is on a timer
I souks think that being the cone of Logan, and having a good deal of time in the forks she would be miter skilled
>And it won't be long before Über starts publishing again.
Yeah but that's because no one wants to use Venom, not even Bendis.
Speaking of which, didn't Venom's comic come out today? Haven't gone to my LCS yet. Anyone whose read it know how it is?
>Der ewige Reich wird Furcht in das Herz des amerikanischen Volkes zu schlagen
Das ewige Reich wird Furcht in das Herz des amerikanischen Volkes schlagen.
Grammar is important. Also Jesus Christ, dude.
Well this was disappointing.
The first issue was very promising, but here, the story is super cliché, the art nothing special, and I'm not found of the way they're trying to portray X-23/Wolverine as a peace-willing girlnextdoor.
Why didn't they bring Liu back? WHY?
This just reads as Generic McBendisVoice.
I'm guessing this is a bait and switch, and they've not just killed off the only interesting thing this new series has done.
do you think Jubes will show up?
Neither is pretty much anything she says in this comic.
My personal favourit this time around is:
>"Because that's a little weird."
Sounds like something a ditzy cheerleader would say. Are we sure this isn't X-666 in disguise?
>I'm not found of the way they're trying to portray X-23/Wolverine as a peace-willing girlnextdoor.
Do you not read Laura's books? A point of different for some time now has been that she isn't Logan's "willing to kill", it;s "will to kill, if she really has to".
Her taking the Wolverine name wasn't so she could chug beers and murderize people
>first 6 issues are garbage
>X-23 acts completely out of character
>at the end of the arc it shows X-23 in her X-Force outfit imprisoned somewhere
>the next 6 issues are about the former New X-Men trying to show everyone this Laura is an impostor
>the real X-23 takes over at the end and is completely in character for the rest of the book
How would you react?
>a book no one wants
WOW, you sure told them!
Still, it's better than FF. However, the state of X-books is... sad, to say the least
Since at least the X-Force days, X-23 has been about killing when it makes sense. She tries to spare lives generally but she's not like Batman where she'll let one of the good guys die because she spares the bad guy.
Laura's getting pudgy.
I don't really like that since it was nice that all the wolverines had a distinct sillouette with Logan being wide, Daken being ottermode, Laura being slender and Creed being massive.
No blood in a Wolverine book means they're not dead.
Isnt she gonna be in a road trip book with Angel, Beast, and Cyclops?
Hmmm, that was interesting.
If the writer knew how to do X-23's voice, this would be a good book. At the moment it a good story hamstrung by how how totally not recognizable as themselves the main character is.
>Alchemax admits, to Laura's face, they cloned her without her knowledge
>and kept the clones as soldier slaves
>and she didn't kill them all instantly
Is this version of X-23 actually retarded? They just admitted to her face to being Facility Lite.
So is "It's a little weird" their genetic catchphrase?
>using the word when talking about an unrelated research lab is kinda stupid.
These characters are unaware so they're using it. It's just a word, chill.
now that she is short and thick, what are her measurements?
Wait. So she cut the cuffs with her claws? How? The cuffs wouldn't allow her to move a hand to cut the opposing hand's cuff. If she some how wiggled them up to her knuckles so they are cut when the claws go out, she could have just took the hand out at that point without cutting them.
>Gambit is confirmed to be part of the regular cast but won't be joining the team formally because he doesn't want to be tied down
Seriously? Damn it, yet another book with shitty art I'll probably end up buying now.
i'm a little disappointed that we're not getting the flaring animal ears mask that early 90s wolverine was known for.
imho it'd look cute on her, and her proportions would be even more like her animal namesake. also, the jutting curved shapes should make it harder for enemies to get a precise headshot while she's in motion. -speaking of which, there better be some ablative plates around her head. come to think of it, it's honestly pretty dumb for a person without adamantium bones to wear bright blue and yellow. wolverine only did so because he knew he could draw enemy fire and intimidate -but then again, we have no idea how fast and strong x23 is.
boots that flare ought to end at the calf or above the knee to accenuate the figure imho. i think those flared bits would look better as kneepads but i'm not the artist.
>2 issues in, 2 clones dead
who wants to make a bet that none of the clones survive past this story?
i'm actually liking this more than i thought i would. thanks for the storytime anon! i'll be picking this up now.
>No blood in a Wolverine book means they're not dead.
This. Not only no blood splatter, but they're all wearing body armor and we don't see the round penetrate the mask for the headshot. Even without healing factors no one's dead yet.
More short hair Laura
oh shit taskmaster bitches!
I actually quite like this wolverine. Seems like the only Marvel character who actually benefitted from a female replacement. But that's only because the replacement was as violent and similar as the original.
>Want to support Laura
>Don't want to support the art and the writing
>Ask a Thor fan that. Or a Captain America fan. Or an Inhumans fan. Or a FUCKING FANTASTIC FOUR FAN.
or Runaways fan. I mean seriously, considering how much shit X-Fandom can give Runaways fandom for daring to have a mutant on the team, watching them bitch so much now when they still receive ten times better treatment than Runaways is hilarious. Like when you are in grade school and you realize your bully is just a little bitch.
>ungrateful bastard fans like you.
Not him but...what the hell man? This was really not called for. Some people don't like the direction Marvel took GotG in, they have right to it.
Hopeless haven't wrote anything good. He managed to make a book about mosnters boring, Season One was just copypasting Lee and Kirby and filling plotholes with lame jokes, Inferno was based on a dumb plot and everyone like it for one shitty joke about Cable. Spider-Woman is a mindless copying of Hawkeye and Babsgirl style with some shit tackled in for controversy. I didn't read Cable & -Force but I honestly know people, die-hard X-men fans, who think it was WORSE than Arena on the ground of idiotic plot and character derailment.
And as for Arena nad Undercover. I gave them a try. It was before I've read anything of Runaways or Avengers Academy. I wanted to judge these books on their own, not as follow up to fan-favorite titles. After reading I came to the conclusion this shit is worse than anything Humphries did. Or anything bendis did. Or Ultimatum. Or even One More Day.
I have read Runaways and Avengers Academy ever since and loved both of them, but saying criticism towards Arena/undercover is jsut "butthurt Runaways/Academy fans" is just being a mindless idiot - because even jduged on their own these books are pure shit. Plot is fucking insult to human itelligence, villains pose like some cool and smart but actually make Willy E. Coyote look competent in comparision, every single character is absolutely unlikeable and does not act in any way like a believable human being, writer is clearly masturbating every time he kills a woman, there are two blatant self-inserts serving nothing but to fufill his Asian fetish and one awful mary sue. It reads on a level of a really bad "soo edgy" fanfic written by a 13-years old.
I've loved Star-Lord in DnA era and hate what Bendis and Humphries did to him. Still would not trade them for that idiot even if you paid me golden brick for every issue he writes.
>I didn't read Cable & -Force but I honestly know people, die-hard X-men fans, who think it was WORSE than Arena on the ground of idiotic plot and character derailment.
Stop hanging around with fucking retards.
They are very smart people who know their comics and recommended me some good stuff. And they really hate Cable & X-Force.
Maybe you should try to accept the possibility it's overrated?
Humphries is not even close to the worst writer. You faggots just put him in that group because you are as butthurt as Academy/Runaways fans about Ultimates and your husbando Maker.
Guess what time it is!?
the thing I don't get about Kimura is, if they could make a person who could regularly beat the shit out of someone with wolverine's powers, why didn't they just make that their new government weapon whatever thing?
>She doesn't have her own solo game
Give one of your solo games to your clone-daughter, Wolverine! You don't even need that many!
Eh, it could simply be they couldn't actually make more of Kimura and that was a lie to keep her in check.
Let's say yes solely because nobody gets raped these days in comics. Laura being able to overcome all the shit done to her is part of who she is.
Well, Kimura was really dysfunctional. If they sent her out to kill a target, they would probably find her in a backalley a week later pulling the legs off hobos and torturing cockroaches.
Of course if the question is why they tried to mass produce Wolverine clones and not Kimura clones? then i guess the answer is that sometimes smart people do really stupid things. Especially if they are villains.
Let's all hope her book gets better.
>That time Ms Sinister wanted Laura's body
I still can't believe she's been paired up with Angel...I just don't get it.
Could be a thematic thing to counter her demon stuff?
The best theory is that it was supposed to be her and Tyke, but then he went off to space, and Bendis being a hack just put her with Angel and decided that was all he needed her for.
>Humphries is not even close to the worst writer
I'm aware, doesn't make it any less odd to me.
I can only imagine that when you take the number of high stakes missions a super soldier will, on average, pull off before going rogue, and compare it to the number of high stakes missions a normal soldier can pull off before dying, it still ends up more efficient to go for the super soldiers.
Maybe it's a case of we only really see the failures because that's where the story is.
Majority of these black government secret super soldier projects apparently go on for years, if not decades with adequate or even stellar results until they flip their shit and run away in a bloody escape.
The real imperative should be the ability to read the subject before this happens and give them a nice retirement party and leave on amicable terms.
> She molests X-23.
> Pats X-23 on the head if she's a "good girl", punishes her if bad.
> X-23 conditioned to enjoy head-patting.
> There's still a part of X-23 thatvis kimura's bitch.
Don't mind me.
I've just come for that healthy little teenage body of yours...
you know who was slapped together on the spot and failed completely?
I'd limit it to Hopeless and Humphries. Bendis, at least, has had a few good stories to his name. Hopeless has, at best, average or below average stories.
Humphries I don't know shit about.
So without reading this, is X-23 being written alright again? She was so out of character with Bendis and I know he's not writing her anymore, but the fact that Angel's still around makes me think Bendis Laura is new Laura.
Honestly? this is the best she's been written since . . . Probably Avengers Academy. She's still insular, but she's a bit more normalized.
And I can't help but think the writer of this series isn't to big on the Angel relationship angle either, because he is marginalized quite a bit.
>Humphries I don't know shit about.
He has only ever written one good story in his life, and it was about literal dog fucking.
Everything he's done at Marvel ranges from offensively horrible (Ultimates, Legendary Star-Lord) to average at best (Avengers AI, SW: Planet Hulk)
SW: Planet Hulk was actually rather good all things considered. Nothing groundbreaking, but more than competent.
Which, for me, puts Hopeless in last place as the worst Marvel writer.
Except SW: Inferno and Cable & the X-force are both genuinely good, and Hopeless' absolute worst comics (Arena/Underground) are still better than Ultimates or Legendary Star-Lord.
First Whor, now this? When are they replacing a female with a male character?
Cable and X-Force is debatable (I've seen some call it the worst X-Force). And Inferno . . . dude, Inferno has one good joke, a strong-ish start, but completely falls apart into apathy and broken potential at the end.
>Cable and X-Force is debatable (I've seen some call it the worst X-Force).
Anybody who says that is a fucking retard and probably didn't actually read it and is just doing the typical bandwagoning.
Reminder: it ran at the same time as Humphries Uncanny X-Force, which was the worst book in the entire Marvel NOW lineup, not just the X-Men line.
>If the writer knew how to do X-23's voice, this would be a good book
This goes for petty much all of her comics that aren't written by her original creators. People either forget she's socially inept and have her talk like a regular teenager or they go full retard and make her talk like a robot. It shouldn't be that hard to find the balance. Just have her talk proper with no slang and you're already mostly there.
>just doing the typical bandwagoning.
this what you fuckers do everytime talk about Humphries and Hopeless. Stop being babies butthurt about one or two fucking fictional character or group
Would've been healed over by now probably. She had her entire body practically remade by Josh Foley after Nimrod fucked her over. I also recall Belasco blowing her up only to reform her just for kicks once.
Should have been paired up with Elixir, IMO. The guy who heals and the girl who only knows how to kill. Plus their history on X-Force. Except Soule botched it on Wolverines somehow.
If she has to be paired up, I actually kind of liked the idea of her and Rockslide. They started to have this weird friendship by the end of New X-Men that I thought was pretty funny. He wasn't scared of her like half the characters and he didn't get hung up on her sad past like the other half. He just thought she was cool and I liked that. Really unfortunate that they only had maybe 5-6 pages of interaction total. I remember when they teamed up to try to convince Anole to let her cut his arm off to see if it would grow back.
Honestly I just want more Rockslide in general. He turned into a megabro.
Cable and X-Force is basically
>Cable gets up to old man shenanigans
>Hope bitches (a lot)
>Colossus and Domino fuck like bunnies
>Forge and Nemesis act like glorious, bantering manchildren
It was fucking great
She needs to have a reunion with Megan already
She never became a hero in her own right after being trained by Spider-Man like she was supposed to.
Talon will never be...
thread needs more wincest
I expected this book to be shit but it wasn't bad.
My one complaint is X-23's tone being a bit too snarky. I know it isn't the first time it's been done with the character, but it is still very annoying.
People keep complaining that Laura doesn't sound like herself, but hasn't the point of her appearances been about becoming more human and interacting with people better? To be honest I was getting very tired of the whole 'I am a emotionally broken waifish assassin boohoo.'
>take already existing female character
>give her name and outfit of male character
Nice job taking an established female character and turning her into a Ms. Male Character there, Marvel.
>She's trapped in a book with mediocre art and writing
Oh Laura, if only I could save you with your own VN or something..
Hey, wait a second...
I'd require genuine brain damage to pull of anything of Hopeless' level
It's never mentioned if her adamantium scars are permanent or just stay longer than usual. Either way implying she doesn't get scarred means the writer couldn't even be bothered to read her 6 issue origin mini
Yeah, and that's been done. She's been an established character for about a decade now, being perpetually stuck one step past her origin story was fucking stupid. That shit is stale.
Yes, it is. I would've really loved seeing a writer take the next step, instead of just skipping 3 steps ahead and never ever addressing that those 3 steps even fucking took place in the first place.
