Alright, /co/.

Tell me. Would you watch a primetime/Adult Swim cartoon starring GEORGE LIQUOR, AMERICAN?
>>
>>77628482
yes
>>
I find Kricfalusi's animation unappealing and his art style grotesque. So no.
>>
You know if they did, Renman & The Stimps would make an occasional cameo.
>>
>>77628649
life is grotesque. accept it or commit suicide
>>
>>77628482
No, John. Stop trying to make George Liquor catch on. He's never going to be popular.
>>
>>77628753

It's like talking to myself in middle school. You'll grow out of it, champ.
>>
>>77628649
i actually like it but i hate john K
>>
You really want another Adult Party Cartoon? Besides, this hack can't even finish a 5 minute George Liquor short. Wasn't that Cans Without Labels Kickstarter shit supposed to be released 3 years ago?
>>
>>77628810
It was funded in August 2012, supposed to be done in Feb 2013.

I donated 75$

Send help
>>
>>77628482
If it's anything like this, I don't want it.

>>
>>77628833

Doesn't Kickstarter's fine-print have some shit about them not being liable for the creators making good on their promises?
>>
>>77628857
>If it's anything like this, I don't want it.
That actually was pretty spectacular Flash work for the time.
>>
>>77628857
wow that wasnt funny once, even by accident.
>>
John .K has stayed well pass his welcome he can now get the fuck out
>>
>>77628995
Was it though? I guess it depends on when this was made
I feel like people have been making better flashes on newgrounds and flashhub since around the same time this came out
>>
No
Even if I forgot everything I know about jonk, I just don't like that style.
>>
>>77629386
It was literally the first Flash cartoon on the internet.
>>

Oh look its the same old shit that John K has been peddling for the last 25 years

This picture makes me want rule 34. I bet he has a cute little dicklet.

if he can stick on model enough so that its not just walking jello bags: the show, hell yes
>>
>>77628886
there is nothing at all KS can do, that's just there to cover them.
>>
John K got so caught up in his theories that it destroyed him. "Every drawing is a key; no inbetweens, completely different expression every frame" just doesn't fucking work.

With stellar production materials like this, who could say no?
>>
>>77634236
Oh god, why?
>>
>>77634236
My problem with John's current style is that his cleanups aren't really cleanups. He just makes the lines clean; he doesn't fix any mistakes. Everything looks unconstructed and melty.
>>
Only if it didn't overuse digital inbetweening. Television should not be the same ballpark as the Internet.
>>
>>77628482
Does John K even still like John K?
>>
>>77634236
>>77634382
>>77634441
He had this issue on APC, the original R&S, and Ripping Friends

every line, every bend, every single contour needs to meet his approval before it gets finished and things got absurd when he started going over budget asking for more retakes and wasting production time with this stuff. He wants his doodles to retain their detail and all that and yet HE STILL CAN'T MAKE CARTOONS ANY FASTER
>>
>>77628482
Liquor? I hardly know 'er!
>>
>>77628482
Yes, John. I gave you my hundred bucks. Now finish the goddamn pilot.
>>
I know people he's worked with have said he's a pompous ass and he tried to get Billy West to put his career on the line to get him back on Ren and Stimpy. Some people got mad when he said he was upset you weren't allowed to put sexy girls in cartoons anymore. Only other reason I know is that he is ridiculous when trying to animate under because of all of his rules and expectations for literally every single frame. What else?
>>
>>77628857
Something about this felt painful, and not the Ripping Friends good kind of painful.
>>
>>77634896
>>
>>77634896
John K always seemed like a pretty classic case of the risk not equaling the reward. He may produce some absolutely amazing animation, but it's not worth it when he's a finnicky always-late money-wasting turd who's impossible to work with and gets molesty with employees.

Which is probably why nobody has really picked him up since Ren & Stimpy, because who the fuck wants to put up with that when you now have hundreds of other socially-adjusted animators who can actually meet a goddamn deadline?

John K is yesterday's news, and he will be for the rest of his life, because the industry moved on.
>>
>>77634984
Goddamn I love Billy West.
>>77635167
>gets molesty with employees
What?
>>
>>77635228
I guess 'molesty' is too strong a word. 'Creepy' is more like it.
>>
>>77634984
>His whole fixation with hell, dads and boys and torture and punishment...well, I've made millions and millions of people laugh but I don't get what's funny about endless repititions of that crap that he dotes on. There's a difference between cries for help and comedy.

If you read John K.'s blog posts about his father and all the fucked up stories about his childhood, he the exact embodiment of the sort of person who says "I was raised in this way and I turned out completely fine!"
Hint: They're never fine
>>
>>77635718
yeah, george liquor is sign enough that the dude is fucked in the skull

same with Anthony's dad but that always struck me as a weird sort of odd wish fulfillment thing in retrospect

god, poor guy looks like he lives stuck in the 70's... no wonder he thinks animation still sucks.
>>
>>77635319
"Molesty" is not too strong a word. The guy is a predator. Just look at how many "interns" he ends up dating. He's regular-creepy, too, especially when he carries those freaky dolls around.

I worked with Stephen Worth a few years ago on a project that John was very interested in. Every time he came into the room people got quiet and just seeing him made one of the volunteers cry. I don't know exactly what he did to warrant that reaction, but I've always gotten the feeling he was an abusive bag of dicks.
>>
>>77636298
Well, from everything else, even if he was never touchy-grabby, it seems easy to assume he was a loud control freak who made life hell for anyone working under him.

God damn, everything about this guy and his works just feels unclean.
>>
>>77636335
I once asked one of his assistants about someone who used to work for him. He got quiet, then looked at me blankly and gave the totally-not-in-a-cult answer of "we don't talk about him."

jesus christ I just read the whole thing and West is SALTED about this dude, this is some legit disgust and revilement
>>
>>77632151
I'm not sure why he thought it was a good idea in the first place. A pre-teen experimenting with animating stick figures for the very first time will be able to tell you that it's an awful idea within 20 minutes. Meanwhile John K., who's supposed to be a veteran animator, grand master of the craft, really couldn't see the problem?
>>
>>77628886
Creators are liable for a failed product or for delivering something that is different than what is promised.

KS only function is to give creators a place to post their project campaigns to get donations. only taking a finders fee of sorts.

any dispute you have will be between you and the creator, in this case, John K.

In the KS terms of service claims that when a person has donated money to a successfully funded project, both the creator and backer have agreed to a contract

You can probably make a case to get you money back from john K. It may not be worth your time for something like five or twenty bucks, but for people who donated in the 1000 or 10,000 range they do have a leg to stand on.

I love how by the end he's completely lost any fucking sense of composure whatsoever and he's just dissolved into crazed disjointed ranting. I like to picture him just screaming 'BIG SHOT' at the top of his lungs over and over while he types, eyes wide and mouth frothing.
>>
>>77634236
What blasphemy is this, John K. would never dream of releasing an inferior product.

I just got my John K. doodle in the mail today, it was definitely worth the 75 dollars I shelled out for it!
>>
>>77637247
Ya'll niggas saw his blogspot he's been running the past 10 years, fans of the man should know he can't keep a deadline, if any backers thought they were going to get a Ren & Stimpy quality project (or that he would actually deliver on time), you got no one to blame but yourself.

That notebook doodle shit is the only type of stuff he's been drawing since R&S ended.

(Not actually talking about you anon, but backers who are disappointed on what they've been getting so far)

Honestly, no.

While I rather like his stuff as a rule, GL was always one of those ideas that seemed to entertain John K. more than his audience.

John K says George Liquor came to him in a vision, fully-formed as a character, from the character design to the voice to the personality.

But this early sketch tells a different story, as if he started off as an Elmer Fudd parody.
>>
>>77637371
>GL was always one of those ideas that seemed to entertain John K. more than his audience.
Yeah, George is a character that John seems to think is absolute comedy gold but he's tried time and again to make him catch on as a popular cartoon character and has consistently failed. The reception to him has always been lukewarm, there's probably nobody that outright hates George Liquor but you're not going to find a lot of people going "wow I sure could go for more George Liquor cartoons!"

Hell, I don't think even the Cans Without Labels backers were that enthusiastic about it. It was more of a "let's fund a John K cartoon" situation where Liquor just happened to be attached. I doubt any of them were throwing money at the project primarily because they really fucking loved this character.
>>
>>77637415
Well he certainly seems like an over-exaggerated Fudd.
>>
>>77637569
GL seems more like a side character than a main one. He just does not scream protagonist material. Villain maybe, but not protagonist.

The fact that all the 'son' characters we see him with are borderline retarded and lack any characteristics kinda shows that John K didn't really have much of an idea for him aside from GL just being his abusive dad. He didn't build any universe around him like Ren and Stimpy had.
>>
no.
>>
I know at least one person who backed Cans Without Labels who said they don't care if John K ever finishes. They're just happy that they got to back such a genius. And if it's ever released everyone will see just how worthy it was of money, time and respect.

John K engenders the kind of worship that's reserved for the Pope and I don't get it at all.
>>
>>77636220
It does still suck. Television animation gets worse every year and Disney keep committing artistic inbreeding.

He forces his characters (if one can even call them characters) into most of his commissioned works. And when he didn't already own those characters, he holds onto them anyway like the girls and the poodle from the Old Navy commercial. So many of his characters are parodies and redraws like "My Little Asses."

The man has no fucking creativity. Which is a problem if you're constantly griping about how executives just don't understand your genius.
>>
>>77641507
Bjork told him to do what he wanted so he did and she just said "okay"

At the time it was a rather interesting video - a mysterious piece by renegade genius animator John K.

As time goes on, it seems it was just a load of poorly-thought-out crap strung together.
