My problem with John's current style is that his cleanups aren't really cleanups. He just makes the lines clean; he doesn't fix any mistakes. Everything looks unconstructed and melty.

every line, every bend, every single contour needs to meet his approval before it gets finished and things got absurd when he started going over budget asking for more retakes and wasting production time with this stuff. I know people he's worked with have said he's a pompous ass and he tried to get Billy West to put his career on the line to get him back on Ren and Stimpy. I worked with Stephen Worth a few years ago on a project that John was very interested in. Every time he came into the room people got quiet and just seeing him made one of the volunteers cry. I don't know exactly what he did to warrant that reaction, but I've always gotten the feeling he was an abusive bag of dicks.

A pre-teen experimenting with animating stick figures for the very first time will be able to tell you that it's an awful idea within 20 minutes. KS only function is to give creators a place to post their project campaigns to get donations. only taking a finders fee of sorts.

any dispute you have will be between you and the creator, in this case, John K.

In the KS terms of service claims that when a person has donated money to a successfully funded project, both the creator and backer have agreed to a contract

You can probably make a case to get you money back from john K. It may not be worth your time for something like five or twenty bucks, but for people who donated in the 1000 or 10,000 range they do have a leg to stand on.

John K says George Liquor came to him in a vision, fully-formed as a character, from the character design to the voice to the personality.

But this early sketch tells a different story, as if he started off as an Elmer Fudd parody.

Yeah, George is a character that John seems to think is absolute comedy gold but he's tried time and again to make him catch on as a popular cartoon character and has consistently failed. The reception to him has always been lukewarm, there's probably nobody that outright hates George Liquor but you're not going to find a lot of people going "wow I sure could go for more George Liquor cartoons!"

Hell, I don't think even the Cans Without Labels backers were that enthusiastic about it. It was more of a "let's fund a John K cartoon" situation where Liquor just happened to be attached. I doubt any of them were throwing money at the project primarily because they really fucking loved this character.
