1st for underwhelmed
First for Pacifica's massive breasts.
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened.
REMINDER
he has no job
he has no future
dumped by emmy so fast
he was left in a stupor
We still have a few more months but I will always enjoy the dumb memories we made together in /gfg/.

Nth for fixing your poem.
>ONLY TWO EPISODES REMAIN
>THIRD SEASON HOPES WERE ALL IN VAIN

I FUCKING WANT MORE CONTENT
I FUCKING ASKED SEASON 3 TO HAPPEN
FUCK THIS I AM ANGRY AND I'M SAYING WHAT EVERYONE WANT TO SAY
I AM DISAPPOINTED AND SAD AND I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHAT ALEX WANTED
EVEN DISNEY WANTED A SEASON 3
FUCK YOU FOR RUSHING EVERYTHING INTO ONE SEASON IT CAME OFF SHITTY
AND ROADSIDE ATTRACTION WAS FUCKING ATROCIOUS I CAN'T BELIEVE I STAYED TILL 4 AM FOR THIS SHIT
thank you gravity falls for all the chubs and dipper /s/
>>77607524
Well, it's the thought that counts, right?
>>77607550It was pretty good, I'm just anal.
>Nothing made me miss my brother more than this show
>I decided to try to find my brother again before it ended
>Closest thing to the truth is some dude who died of a shot to the head a few years ago
>I don't even know what to feel or where to take this post to
Boobs
So...
I'm thinking Monday's episode will be the chin card. Maybe Mabel's bubble will be between them.
We'll get both Ford's forehead (Dipper's birthmark)
and Stan's eyes (with Bill pupils)
With the series finale.
Wow. I had hoped for 3 episodes and a finale, but I was wrong.
I'm shit at cryptograms. Does anyone know what the one at the end of Alex's post says?
>>77607498
Likewise, anon. It's been a pleasure.
>>77607628
Stay weird
>>77607628
Fuck Manzi.
>Alex makes a new show for CN:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPUAmhcw0JQ
>>77607428
I can respect this. Alex seems like a cool dude and I'd rather see someone stand by their artistic principles instead of pulling another Matt Groening and running a once good show into the ground.
I hope this is fake because Alex also leaked a picture of mcgucket writing the journals.
So much wasted potential in this show. And all we get is apocalypse: memes edition.
Also get a grip. Shows end all the time.
If only the twins went home and the apocalypse didn't happen
Get fucking keked/gfg/, sincerely, /sveg/
>>77607579
>I don't even know what to feel or where to take this post to
Oh hey, are you the anon who posted a couple of months ago about how Stan and Ford's relationship reminded you of your estranged brother? If so, I was wondering if you'd followed through on looking for him.
Sorry to hear you hit a dead end in your search.
>>77607600
>Ford's forehead (Dipper's birthmark)
What purpose would that serve at this point? There's no way they're going to introduce and resolve a time travel loop plot line in the one hour finale. Especially with Weirdmageddon still ongoing.
Ford is Ford; Dipper is Dipper. We've known they weren't the same person since Ford was confirmed to have six fingers.
Thread song ...not gonna lie, i'm really sad but i rather this than seing the show with no direction and trying to be funny over old jokes/lore
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Yb3cN5EQbs
>>77607428
Reminder we literally got to see a train being run on Mabel
count your blessings, my friends
>>77607732
Someone is mad that our show gets a good ending and yours doesn't .
>several straight months now of TIS BEEN A PLEASURE GENTLEMEN, SEE YA SOON SPACE COWBOY, etc
>>77607428
Fuck, this ruined my day. Figures I'd finally get into it right as it's ending.
>>77607769
SU would have had to be good in the first place to get a good ending.
>>77607533
>literally "Wahhh pander to needs!" the post
Fuck off, faggot. It was a fun ride and im glad its getting an ending. Most shows either get cancelled or turn to shit. Either enjoy what you were given or go somewhere else.
>>77607828
/sveg/ anon.
>>77607772
Mods better send these threads to /trash/ after the series is over.
>>77607737
>There's no way they're going to introduce and resolve a time travel loop plot line in the one hour finale.
I don't think it'll be a time loop.
-Maybe ayylmaos marked Dipper at birth (stan said his face was blue in the DS game), and somehow the constellation will get moved from Dipper to Ford.
-Maybe Dipper will have a vision of himself as an adult, following in Ford's footsteps of chasing the weird and losing touch with his twin.
>>77607876
As much as I like those ideas with the birth mark I feel like it will just be overlooked
anyone else think that alex is a total qt and ideal bf material or is something really wrong with me?
>>77607855
hes right though
>we will never know exactly what ford was doing for 30 years behind the portal
>we will never see Wendy have any actual interaction with her family
>we will never see Pacifica truly thaw out and join the mystery team
>we will never know what the agent dispatcher was all about
> no befriended pacífica shenanigans.
Wasted potential. Instead we got the abomination known as roadside attraction?
>>77607916
He's pretty cute anon. Jason Ritter, too.
>>77607931
on the other hand the show ending means we're free to come up with our own takes on those scenarios(assuming the finale isn't too closed of an ending)
>>77607665
thats more like what happened to Genndy
>>77607968
Will Alex have to slum it at Sony Animation now?
>>77607916
No, there's nothing wrong with you. Alex is okay. But saying that here is like hanging a target on your chest, so brace yourself.
>>77607678
>Matt Groening
It's not his call. He couldn't end The Simpsons even if he wanted to. Unless you're speaking about his desire to see Futurama back as a theatrical film. I guess you could argue that against him, but I'd hardly call that "running a once good show into the ground".
I'm honestly surprised Alex is allowed to end the show like this. You'd think Disney would just find someone else to take over the reigns. Though, I suppose him voicing several characters has something to do with that.
>>77607992
maybe he'll get to do a Simpsons couch gag or something equally trite.
>>77607967
Oh, no doubt the fandom will continue to produce material (both good and bad) after the end.
> people were actually crying that a children's show is ending.
Look I totally get being down about a show your passionate about is ending? But being driven to tears? Come on now.
>>77607916
Nah, he's obviously pretty cute.
It's easy to tell the trolls apart from genuine Alex haters when they make fun of his looks.
>>77607916
He seems like a nice, personable guy, but he's not my cup of tea. Too baby faced.
That said, there'sAlex x Reader fanfictionout there, so I have to assume you're not alone in finding him attractive.
>>77607931
>we will never know if the dinosaur in Time Traveler's Pig was actually in the future busted out of the amber, not the past
Seriously, all the other time hops were within a few thousand years, not millions.
>we will never know why Ford and McGucket built the mind-swap carpet
To get Bill out of someone?
>We will never know why Ford and McGucket built the clone copy machine
To trick Bill into an easily melted clone?
>>77607428
Peace to all the souls in /gfg/. Let's make sure we don't make the finale worse by blaming all Jews for this. It's almost 2016. Bad things happen.
>>77608028
Another person made a pretty good point how there's tons of people who cry over sports.
Both are pretty pathetic if you're not the one participating in the sport event/working on the show.
But really, who gives a fuck? I'd rather have people be all gloomy about it rather than enraged.
>and the hour-long series finale, "Weirdmageddon III," to follow sometime in 2016
why bother living
>>77608121
Holy shit, is that a fan edit?
>>77607931
>>77607533
maybe the show will continue in the form of a comic
>>77608028
As I mentioned in the last thread, grown men cry over Superbowl games. Which may be debatably just as silly...though I wouldn't recommend telling that to their faces.
It's nothing new (have you ever seen footage of girls crying because Elvis walked by them?). People will react as they will, and nothing will change that. I do defend your right to question it all, however.
>>77608139
Nope.
I've ignored /gfg/ forever and now right as I get into the show and these threads, it ends.
>>77608027
>no doubt the fandom will continue to produce material (both good and bad) after the end.
Fandoms inevitably lose a lot of steam after the original story ends. Artists and writers move on to the next big thing, plot and meta discussion slows to a crawl, etc. I'm sure it won't die out for years, but a slowdown is inevitable.
I hope Gravity Falls will have decent staying power, though. God knows we've had enough hiatuses to get used to going months without new canon content.
>>77608178
HWAY TO GO, FUCKNUGGLET.

Tomorrow I might pick a scene from S2 to animate and "enhance"I'm the one who was doing the screenshots.
So which one do you want to see more, Pacifica or Wendy? Also which scene in particular.
>>77608222
I was here
>>77608139
Yeah, it's a fan edit.
>>77608184
I wouldn't be surprised if it has similar staying power to say Kim Possible or something

>>77608345
I want to see them get into a fistfight one more time before the show ends.
Just give me some Grunkles beating the fuck out of each other and I'll be satisfied.
>>77607533
Look at it this way, there's still a possibility he'll work with Justin Roiland. Even though Alex vehemently denied it, a GF/RnM crossover is still a possibility.
Wow...
God, no...
>>77608367
>Just give me some Grunkles beating the fuck out of each other and I'll be satisfied.
I hope the show delivers for you.
Stan is gonna sacrifice himself to beat Bill.
Ford is gonna have a breakdown when he realizes Stan photocopied all the journals.
>halfway through finale
>Bill is dead, everyone is free
>BUT WAIT
>Bill isn't dead. With his last bit of power he tears open a much larger rift, this time large enough to swallow the entire Earth
>it's looks like it's all over
>Stan walks over to the twins, kneels down and says "you know what we have to do".
>they both nod silently
>the three of them grab hands and fly up towards the rift
>huge white explosion, fade to black
>THREE YEARS LATER
>Wendy is getting ready to leave for college, packing her things and saying goodbye to her family
>Dan tries to fight it, but at the last second breaks down and starts crying
>Wendy drives through town, which has been completely rebuilt
>the town founder's statue has been replaced with a statue of Dipper, Mabel, and Stan. Standing at the statue is an older Candy, Grenda, and Pacifica
>The four of them talk, revealing that the twins and Stan were never seen again after that day. Pacifica sadly wonders what ever happened to them
>Wendy smiles and says that she's confident they're still alive and that we haven't seen the last of them
>the four of them say their goodbyes, and Wendy drives away
>Elsewhere at the Mystery Shack
>Ford finishes signing over the house to Soos and puts on a heavy backpack. Soos asks him what he'll do now and he says he's ready for another adventure
>Ford leaves and takes one last look back at the town before walking away
>*theme song plays while credits roll*
>>77608306
It'll be all right, anon. Give it a few days and you'll once again be shoutingBORDUROYto the skies.
>>77608235
>Wendy
I'm all for more wendy.
>>77607428
I sorta expected that the show was coming to its conclusion.
I wouldn't mind if it concluded similarly to how The Wire closed out it's fifth season, with a montage to wrap up any loose ends, but I trust the writing staff will do it well.
Montage for the curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT-7LCRpPVQ

>>77607533
Exactly. Why are we praising someone for basically being a lazy quitter?
>>77608860
Oh, come the fuck on. It's a perfect ending. Hirsch has said the twins' birthday is on the last day of summer and it's coming up. What a better way to leave childhood (and the show) behind than the shit they're about to go through?
>>77608436
I would be satisfied with this ending
next episode will be series finale
>no more pacifica and dipper bondign episodes
damn guys i know things gonna end but...this was fast, too fast.
>>77608436
No resolution booooooo
I am sorry.
It's just everything I love dies. Avengers EHM, Spectacular Spider-man, Green Lantern TAS, Wii U. If I didn't like first season you might've gotten third one.
>>77608436
I would not be satisfied with this ending
So...
Chances of Weirdmageddon III happening in 2015?
>>77608948
I FUCKING KNEW IT
I TOLD THEM NOT TO RECOMMEND YOU THIS SHOW I FUCKING WARNED THEM
I'm really sorry kids. God damn this breaks my heart to see all your young folk so unhappy and upset. I'm sorry my lazy good for nothing pansy son had to take the easy way out and quit again. Just remember the disappointment your feeling right now is only a fraction of what i have felt for decades now. Again I can't apologize enough for my lazy faggot son.
>>77608779
Still alive? Did you left co?
>>77608983
You did this. He knew you would never be happy, so he stopped trying.
So hold up a minute here. Disney wanted a third season? DISNEY WANTED A THIRD FUCKING SEASON? Alex purposely rushed through season two to end this fucking show so he can go suck his new boyfriends cock on R&M and no one is mad?! All this time we've been blaming the mouse when it really was that fucking midget manlets fault?! Motherfucker i'm spitting right in your little faggot face if i ever see your scrawny ass at comicon San Diego again.
>>77608960
same chances as season 3
>>77608999
Hey! You leave the old man alone! He didn't make Alex a lazy quitter! This isn't anyone's fault but that little assholes!!!
>>77608948
I feel you. Hell, Better Off Ted didn't even get to finish one season.
Nothing good seems to come from me loving anything. Shows...people...sob...
Rushing to end the project of your life.
Not a smart move, Hirsch. Not a smart move at all.
Ha ha!
Good one Alex, that's an elaborate new ruse...
>>77607533
I just wanted 3 leather-bound collectors editions that look like each of the journals.
It'll be weird if I did that with just two seasons worth of DVDs.
Fuck you Alex
I love how everyone is applauding Alex for being a loser. And really? A grown man with a tumblr account? Thats a level of faggotry i never thought even you would reach little man.
Wait, where was the confirmation, the exact words, that Disney wanted a third season but Alex said no?
>>77608960
Confirmed for 2016. Sorry anon.
>>77609078
Whats he going to do next? Shave off one side of his hair and dye the other half blue and declare himself a ambisexual polykin starfluid demi-boy and reblog alot of SU shit? Alex Hirsch is confirmed tumblr trash.
Wait so Alex isn't getting his Movie?
How are there only 2 episodes left if there are 3 end cards left?
>>77609098

Similarly, Phineas and Ferb ran for 8 years and got 4 seasons.
I have no idea how that's even supposed to work.
>>77608983
why dont you clean YOUR room dad!?
>>77609309
To be fair Phineas and Ferb had some long ass seasons and ended at 222 episodes (111 half hour) not counting the movie and special.

>>77607533
>>77608860
Fuck off /sug/.
Gravity Falls will end as intended.. Unlike Steven Universe which will eventually become a zombie.
>>77608028
>saying that on /co/ while they're a lot of anons who get buttmad ABOUT a kids show
Furthermore, Gravity Falls is an amazing show, so I understand why some fans are crying about its ending.
>2 episodes left to air
>There will never be another lighthearted plot-free episode ever again
>No more Grunkle Stan tacky cheapskate B-plot
>No more Mabel and friends just hanging out
>Ships will never be canon
>No more silly plot devices like the mind-swapping carpet
>No more family bonding episodes between M+D+GS
>No more holiday specials
>All of the silly, nonsensical moments of Gravity Falls are in the past
Fuck, it actually hurts. I didn't want the plot to accelerate like this. I was so certain coming into this season that we'd at least see a third, even if it was mostly season 1-ish filler.
Life was so great when this show premiered, I really don't want that feeling to go away.

>>77609534
Sugar has actually said that she already knows how she wants SU to end, but I doubt that's something you have any interest in knowing.
I felt Gideon's last minute redemption was rushed and completely nonsensical for his character, and now I know why.
I thought Gideon was going to be a little miniboss to conquer in season 3 and then it would end with the weirdmageddon finale. They ruined little Gideon because Alex wanted out.
Don't believe Alex: this clearly isn't artistic, the last 7 episode with Standford are clearly more rushed and a little hammy, and there's no way he planned to say season 2 was going to be the last once season 1 was over. He just couldn't do a third season, so he just stuffed season 2 a little more.
He fucked himself artistically, financially, and career-wise. I doubt anything he'll do afterwards will be nearly good as GF because he's decided he doesn't want to continue working this hard for a show, so why would he jump ship on something unfinished and work hard all over again for a new show?
>last episode will be 1 hour long
Oh thank the heavens. I really really hope they close it nicely and give us a nice after the events scenario
>>77609794
That doesn't mean it'll actually end even if they want it to.
Adventure Time was supposed to end at Mortal Recoil, but CN renewed because it was selling.
Disney supported Alex and his crew's crazy vision and I'm happy for it.

The Meme Dream is almost over, bros...
Has anyone else ever noticed what creepy dead soulless eyes Hirsch has? They're just these empty dead lifeless pin holes in his face.
>>77609846
He's not a hack, he just got tired of working so hard so he copped out and stopped it. Why else do you think weirdmageddon wasnt advertised at all as a finale of sorts?
Alex purposefully wrote him into an end-summer corner so theres no potentiality of continuing the show, no more leisure filler episodes, and they especially cant do it without his voice.
I just think he fucked himself all around, and this isn't artistic integrity as he's writing it off. There's a difference between not letting something go on for too long and stopping episodes before its well rounded.
>>77609831
ya know what?
2B completely sucked
he mustve seen the writing on the wall when jk simmons phoned in all his lines
>>77609887
And that's why Gravity Falls is so lucky to be under Disney.
Sure, the hiatuses were agonizing, but I'll take that over zombification. Not to mention the longer runtime and higher budget.
>>77609904
Working for Disney does that to ya
>>77609881
Well I guess he's just a hack retard who can write episodic scenarios but cant into overarcing plot.
Regardless if he planned it or not, he really rushed the end with stanford onwards.

>>77609933

>suddenly ending after season 2 with several unresolved mysteries and subplots
>"This is 100% my choice, and its something I decided on a very long time ago."
what a load of shit
if I had to guess and blame something, I'd blame Disney's scheduling dragging this out way longer than he wanted, but he sure as shit ain't telling the whole truth
Hirsch doesn't seem like the kind of writer who would drop the story where it is right now
>>77609714

>There's a difference between not letting something go on for too long and stopping episodes before its well rounded.
At the risk of being lumped in with the "manlet hack Alex a shit" trolls, I have to admit that sums up my concerns with 2B. Repeating "this ending is perfect, stop complaining" doesn't address complaints about its pacing.
Of course nobody wanted zombiefication. And of course this ending feels definitive: Alex wrote it to be the tightest closer he could manage. But that doesn't mean the execution doesn't feel rushed. The overarching story was fine, but I wish they'd given us more breathing room between major events.
For example, Gideon's lightning fast face turn felt hasty, and, honestly, more than a little cheap. TSC was only three episodes ago, and in it he proved he was just as vicious and callous as ever. He's done nothing but terrible things to the Pines family, and even to his own father, and TSC affirmed he remained utterly unrepentant of all of it. He also barely showed interest in Mabel, and he was willing to handle her the same way as he did Dipper.
Everything we've seen from Gideon so far suggests he's a baby sociopath. But now we're supposed to believe this 10 year old boy has had an epiphany and genuinely wants to better himself (to earn a girl's love, no less). Alex's reasoning for Gideon's turn (given in an online interview) wasn't bad, but unfortunately next to none of it was shown onscreen in the actual episodes. The focus was all on Dipper's speech about earning love, and while that served Dipper's development well, it felt off as a means to deal with Gideon. I'm fine with wanting to redeem a character, especially if the message they're going for is that no person is irredeemable. But goddamn, show us a little more of the process if you want to do it to the series' second biggest villain.

It's all small failures that are getting to me. Most of it is stuff I'd never even think about for another cartoon, which speaks to the overall high quality of the writing in the rest of the series.
Maybe adding a whole third season would have been too much. Personally, I think they could have made it work well had they chosen to add some more elements to the main plot. There certainly was a lot of potential there. But even an extra long season would've given the writers a little more wiggle room to seed some of those ideas more thoroughly.
Sorry for the text dump, guys. I just wanted to get that off my chest before Monday's episode airs.
>>77607428

I supp0ose it's dumb seeing as I do countdown anyway, but can I have the honour of doing the final, final countdown? the countdown to the finale?
seriously though, we've had final countdowns for the S1 finale, the end of hiatuses, the start op S2B and the S2A finale, but now this really is the end, the absolute final countdown, after which the wild ride ends and we all go our separate ways, maybe to /sug/, maybe to /sveg/, perhaps to /at/ or /wbb/. Perhaps through miracle we'll all come together over another show and watch it over its run like old times.

One can interpret Gideon's actions as being perfectly within his character. He sees Mabel as something of a prize to be had and his change of heart has less to do with an epiphany about bettering himself and more about him being convinced that there is a way to get her that has a better chance of success. Not so much, "I must be a better person," as, "If I behave better she has to want me."
>>77610863
That pig has been nothing but trouble and potentially delicious bacon strips since it showed up. It's not even there one summer, and suddenly everyone has to go out and risk life and limb poaching pork from dinosaurs. What the hell, Mabel?
Weirdmageddon will make Pincest a reality and the next episode will be Mabel and Dipper talking about it. But since society will never accept them, they must escape from reality and embrace the world's newfound weirdness. They give up on fighting Big Bad Bill and instead side with him.

Sure, but it's not so the mysteries as much as it's development that we're fearing will get cut.
>People complaining about loose ends regardless of the main ones being answered
What? Would Blade Runner be as enjoyable if we were told whether Deckard was a robot? Would Lost in Translation's ending leave as deep an impact if we heard whatever generic romance Bill Murray said? Would the case in Pulp Fiction be as cool if we were told what was in it? Or if Total Recall was real or not? Or how the Joker actually got the scars?
We don't need to know half the things we don't know, and honestly, like Ford in the rift, I don't really want to know. It's fun thinking up crazy stories, and discussing them with others as to what's "real" or not. Besides, half the answers will be in Journal 3 if you really are that desperate.

>Not so much, "I must be a better person," as, "If I behave better she has to want me."
You're not the first person to advocate that explanation in these threads.
I'm sorry, but it just doesn't ring true to me.
Gideon's been established as interested in Mabel, and that's fine. That he's willing to make a desperate last stand against a seemingly omnipotent demon in the name of getting a girlfriend is questionable, but I can live with it. What's not fine is showing him to be nigh indifferent to her just three episodes ago in TSC, when he was willing to entomb her inside the blown up statue alongside Dipper when she turned him down again.
I could buy that he was willing to go to extremes to "make" Mabel love him, but not after he was perfectly willing to write her off in his last appearance. Nothing about his actions so far indicate he's the sort of person who'd risk his life for someone else's sake, period.
That's exactly the sort of inconsistency I was trying to describe in my first post.

There's a fine line between writing an impulsive character and writing an inconsistent character. In my opinion, they're edging slightly over it.
>2)Implying he isn't a total narcissist who thinks Bill is a cinch regardless of the current situation.
He wasn't talking like he was confident he'd beat Bill. And he'd be a total moron to think he could. He must have met Bill to get the key from Mabel's prison, so he's witnessed the extent of Bill's influence now. Gideon might be egotistical, but he's also sly.
>3)Implying he isn't easily flattered.
There was no flattery in Dipper's appeal. He told Gideon an unpleasant truth, and he didn't sugarcoat it either.
>4)Implying abusive lovers don't go in and out between trying to kill, and serenading their loves.
That's not a bad point, although that cycle is usually triggered by a fear of being left by the victim rather than a default pattern. Since even he's not delusional enough to believe Mabel's still dating him, it doesn't work as well.
>5)Implying he's not so ego-driven that he thinks there is any chance Mabel won't fall for him if he has a part in saving her.

>Q: Now that Lil’ Gideon has decided to help Dipper with his rescue of Mabel, could this be the start of a redemption arc for Gideon?
>A: It’s pretty clearly a redemption arc for Gideon. Gideon has been such a little jerk. I don’t think he could ever be fully redeemed for his actions. But Gideon as a character is a screaming, impulsive, spoiled, power-hungry child. He wants what he wants right now, and it’s rarely been denied to him until the Pines family arrives in Gravity Falls. Having his wants frequently denied again and again to his face has made him angrier and angrier, but finally in this episode we see that we’ve broken him down a little bit. Now that he’s on the precipice of getting everything he wants, he can see how hollow it is. And he can see that in a world where Bill is in control, he’s not really in charge. When Dipper appeals to the better side of Gideon, he’s making Gideon see that sometimes you can’t always get what you want. And sometimes being in charge is not better than the alternative. It’s clear that Gideon has turned a page but Gideon is still a nasty character. I as an audience member wouldn’t let him off the hook, but I think he finally recognizes that Bill is a greater evil than the hated Dipper Pines.
http://www.tvinsider.com/article/49304/gravity-falls-weirdmageddon-spoilers-journals-destroyed-louis-ck-cameo/
I wish we'd had more indication of how uncomfortable Gideon was with acting as Bill's subordinate. Alex has talked about that some in the past (in his AMA, I believe) but it would have been nice if that had been reflected in the show itself. A scene where Bill gives Gideon the key, or something along those lines, would have been a good way to illustrate the dynamic between the two of them more clearly.
But then, of course, time constraints were a factor.

I think it was just translated poorly from his head to the show. Writers tend to have a ton of ideas behind their stories they never get to put down on paper due to time constraints or plot limitations. I think this is one of those times where a writer had a well thought out explanation that didn't successfully make it into the final product.
I don't know if a whole episode would have been warranted. But a even a single scene some time between Stanchurian and Weirdmageddon showing his changing perceptions might have helped.

>>77612628

I probably could have worded my point better better.
I know he was and still is a fantastic character in his own right and is obviously extremely important to the twins and has always supported them, but his relevance to the core plot basically went from 10 to 1 after AToTS happened and they decided to basically do nothing with his relationship with Ford afterword.
I'd like to know how many lines of dialogue he and Ford have actually spoken to each other on-screen since Two Stans because I can barely remember it happening at all.

You do know if they announced the show was ending at the start of season 2 then they might have gotten less viewers right? Cause the whole point of making a show is to make sure it gets as many viewers as possible.
Waiting until the final two cliffhanger episodes to throw in a "btw, this is the end" makes sense from that perspective.

Jesus, stop being a such a gotdamn baby. A cartoon show is ending, but its doing it on its own terms with a planned finale instead of just being abruptly cancelled mid-season like SU.

Good question. The answer is
- 15 lines in total for Dungeons (the cycloptopus fight, the argument about TV vs. DD&MD and Probablilitor's appearance, and instructions on how to play the game)
- 2 each in in The Stanchurian Candidate (the lightbulb conversation)
- 0 in The Last Mabelcorn
- 0 in Roadside Attraction
- 0 in Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future
- 0 in Weirdmageddon

>Just like Twin Peaks.
I've been thinking about the parallels between the executive meddling that forced the reveal of Laura Palmer's murderer earlier than intended, and how Alex and crew voluntarily moved Ford's return forward in the series due to fans popularizing the twin theory.
The decisions had different incitements, and the effect on their respective shows had sort of opposite effects. But in a way, it feels similar in that both shows jumped the gun on resolving their biggest mystery, arguably to the detriment of certain fans' engagement with the show.
I don't want to pass judgement on anything until I've seen the last episode of Gravity Falls, but I'd like to sit down and compare and contrast the two shows properly someday.

>>77614463
>I still can't believe it's one whole hour.
Not going to lie: I'm pathetically grateful it's going to be a double length episode.
The 22 minute format is fine for most episodes. And, for important episodes, it's served Gravity Falls much better than the 11 minute format has served other plot-driven cartoons.
But there's so much ground left to cover that forcing the conclusion into two parts likely would have held the writers back. This way, they can make every last minute count without worrying about giving both halves a satisfying standalone structure.
It's not the movie I wanted, but a one hour special is the next best thing.
Does anyone have that suicidal Wendy screenshot from the game?
>>77613122
This, só much.
The difference is thatDipper would vê a better girl [\spoiler]
Is there any confirmation if the "1 hour" finale is two 22 minute episodes put together, three 22 minute episodes put together or an actual extended episode with it's own unique length like AToTS was? I'm hoping for one of the latter two.
>>77614690

> three 22 minute episodes put together
I would love for it to be 66 minutes long, but I suspect that would be a headache in terms of scheduling and commercials. Ad time included, it would take around 90 minutes to air. A double length episode makes more sense.
But, then again, DXD does run movies on a pretty regular basis, doesn't it? I guess they're used to accommodating longer features.
I wonder if there's any precedent for something like that. Anyone know of another 30 minute show that had an hour and a half long special?
>>77614752
>that's enough to count as a movie
True, but it's different since it's divided into multiple episodes. That changes the structure of the plot and affects the pacing considerably.
That's not necessarily a bad thing, mind you. But I would've liked to see what Alex could do in an hour and a half long story with no interruptions.

>>77615329
Gotta disagree with you on that. The events of D&MvtF were them getting stupid. They obviously emulated their elders' falling out: Dipper took Ford's role of wanting to move on to something bigger and better, and Mabel took Stan's attitude of fearfulness towards change.
The difference is that their relationship started out healthier, they have a model for what not to do courtesy of the Stans, and they don't have someone forcing them apart for the next 30 odd years. So they'll actually resolve their differences.
The whole point of the parallels between the two generations is for Dipper and Mabel to succeed where Stan and Ford failed.

If you imply Mabel has dedication to her family, you are wrong. She's an entitled brat and has as much dedication to her family as any person would have to their tools or playthings.
>>77616003
>If you imply Mabel has dedication to her family, you are wrong.
> She has as much dedication to her family as any person would have to their tools
Please note that I didn't say "selfless" dedication, or suggest that Mabel's motivation was self sacrificial in any way. Mabel's biggest flaw as a character is that she's somewhat self-absorbed. Her love for Dipper, though genuine enough, is usually filtered through a lens of her own wants first and foremost. But that doesn't change the fact that she wanted to hang onto her brother, specifically.
Her desire to maintain the status quo in her relationship with Dipper was what led to the events at the end of TLM unfolding as they did. Just in the way Stan's need to cling to Ford resulted in their first falling out. In both cases, the importance of a familial bond was the trigger.
In the case of their fight prior to Weirdmageddon, Mabel's motivator was fear of loss of a familial bond. Most people who value family ties highly would see that as an at least somewhat sympathetic motive.

I made a funpost a few threads ago about how the town of Gravity Falls would be destroyed to better reflect the transience of the kids' summer vacation. Now I'm starting to wonder if I was unintentionally right.
I thought it was interesting how Alex, despite leaving the door open to revisiting the Pines family someday, never mentioned that there's a chance we could return to the town of Gravity Falls itself:
>I know that there will be many fans who will be sad to see the Pines family go, but just because I’ve finished the story I wanted to tell doesn’t necessarily mean we will never see Dipper, Mabel, & Stan again. It means that this chapter is closed, and that I, at least for now, am personally done telling their story.

Eh, it seems like Alex had to finish in a hurry. I feel like if he cut the slice of life episodes, or incorparated some better character development in season 2, the conclusion would've been way more satisfying.
It's begining to look like series with 3-4 season tend to be the most satisfying.
>>77617107
aaaaaand saved.
>>77617681
yeah, that could work. but yeah, my guess is by the end there will be a huge gathering of characters, the gnomes, the unicorns, ect. and the copies will be there too
>>77617693
That's a great episode and there are those threadly le 2015 britkek posts.
>>77617774
I want someone to write a fapfic of this.
>>77617633
I was under the impression Carpet Diem was generally well liked. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else calling it the second worst episode, anyway.
Personally, I liked it, and I've found it more enjoyable to rewatch than a lot of other episodes. It advanced the lore some by revealing Ford's hidden room, had Mabel actually see thing from Dipper's perspective for once and willingly give up on the room, and had a lot of comedy with Stan's suck up points.
But I suppose it's all subjective.
>>77617774
>protective, maternal role to dipper
>>77617800
We still need to find out why Blendin was at the crash site of Gideon's robot, too.
>>77617841
>had Mabel actually see thing from Dipper's perspective for once and willingly give up on the room
Yeah that had such awesome follow-through in future episodes.
>>77617503
He told us it wasn't plot related, like about 70% of all episodes.
We get it, Dipper got some unfair treatment in the episode but it was still pretty funny and had that cozy roadtrip atmosphere as well as a cool villain. It's reception here was actually pretty lukewarm for the first few days after airing until bandwagoning faggots came along and declared it the worst thing ever.
>>77617844
>wendy will never protect you

It had major Fordshadowing in it, newfag.

Since it was bald Blendin, we know it wasn't Billendin, at least. But that also suggests whatever it was happened before the events of Blendin's Game. Which in turn raises the question of what purpose the visit could have possibly served if it wasn't part of his initial timeline clean up. He should have been in prison after he finished that.
Of course, there is the theory that our Blendin comes from an alternate timeline, so maybe another bald Blendin will appear at some point in the finale.
Or he could just lose his hair somehow, I guess. We'll see.
>>77617946
I know you just want to complain about how selfish Mabel is, and I don't begrudge you taking an opportunity to vent. It's frustrating.
But that was also pretty realistic. You don't go your whole life being self-absorbed and suddenly do a 360 just because one experience forced you to show some empathy. Mabel's self-centeredness is her major flaw to overcome. She's made some minimal progress in recent episodes, but having her change too much, too early on would have sucked a lot of tension out of her relationship with Dipper.
Mabel needed to be largely unchanged for D&MvtF to work the way they wanted it to.

I've been standing behind Alex this whole time. I support him ending the show before it becomes shit tier.
But if he does something retarded like make a third season later on, then I can't defend him anymore. That would be absolute proof he is a hack.

HOW IS GRAVITY FALLS STILL NOT OVER YET
“Just because I’ve finished the story I wanted to tell doesn’t necessarily mean we will never see Dipper, Mabel, & Stan again. It means that this chapter is closed, and that I, at least for now, am personally done telling their story.”

Just another way to stick it to Dipper while conveniently giving Mabel more than she deserves
>Everyone in peril, some about to die somehow
>Somehow one of the main characters ends up with a time wish
>"I wish none of this ever happened, and that everything went back to normal"
>Fade to white
>Stan opening the front door to the Mystery Shack for Dipper and Mabel
>"Behold, the most mysterious manor in at least fifteen miles!"
>Mabel proceeds to touch a poorly constructed exhibit item, causing part of it to snap off
>Dipper: "Grunkle Stan is any of this stuff actually real?"
>Stan: "Don't worry kid, you ain't seen anything yet! When you leave this place, you won't even know what sanity feels like!"
>Wendy, at the register: "Yeah, maybe after they see the bathroom"
>Group laughs
>Exterior shot of the Shack, the once triangular window now a rectangular one
>Stan: "No but seriously"
>Cut to black
>Extended cut of theme plays
>Credits video is a slideshow showing Mabel and Dipper looking throughout the Shack, similar to the shot from the title sequence
Post yfw GF gets Futurama'd
>>77619398
To be fair, she was a pretty awesome villain in concept. Some parts of the execution, however, left much to be desired.
>>77619398
Except she never said anything like that you retard, only that they were easy to trick through flirting and empty compliments, which is pretty accurate if you ask me.
>>77619504
>"I wish none of this ever happened, and that everything went back to normal"
if thats the end game then Timmy wouldve beaten the Gravity Falls in 11 minutes instead of 2 seasons
i actually have a gut feeling though Alex will use his retarded memory wiping gun to make everyone forget about the chaos that Bill and the Yo Gabba Gabbas are causing
>>77619190
oh tell me about it.
GF's been a constant in my life for the last four years, life without it's going to be really weird.

I don't know what threads you were on but I was here when it aired and plenty of people thought it was shit because the events in the episode itself are contrived shitty lazy drama
Regardless of any positive attributes it has, the fact that the plot itself was horrible instantly makes it not worth sitting through

These past few years have been pretty shitty for me, with few exceptions. Gravity Falls was one of those rare beautiful things I actually had to look forward to. I'm not saying I'll fall apart without it, but it's going to be odd not having that to brighten me up. Well, at least I can always rewatch.
