I might actually start reading this book if they have the balls to make Kamala take responsibility for sabotaging her own happiness.

Then the book would be sort of like what Slott should have done years ago with Spider-Man.

It seems they did this to make her easier to handle and harder to misuse or cast as a villain.
If you have an ability that can do just about anything it's harder to have low-level adventures. Face-shifting is the holy grail of infiltration and deception.
She could go full Mystique.
With limits she is more easily challenged and not instantly more powerful than Reed and Mystique both.
Also it forces more creative writing to solve a situation. Maybe she will gradually get it back over a few arcs. But for now she is Antman+.
