>>
>>77516493
You're a skilled artist, coloring and shading is professional, dog looks great, and the perspective in Panel 2 is really well done. Gotta work on panels 3&4, the scene doesn't flow well there, you should flip it back. Panel five, has the dog fallen into a bathtub? Can't really tell. Panel 6 works great, dog blacking out is easy to read and is a solid scene closer.

Your storytelling is fine, from what I can infer the dog is trapped in a bathroom. It leaps to the bathroom window, trying to escape, and sees a car speeding away with the MacGuffin in it. Dog loses footing, falls back out of the window into the bathtub, damaging its neck or jaw with a loud crack, shortly before passing out.

What's the dog's name?
>>
>>77517241
Yours look better than mine so I'm not sure I can offer any useful critique. I attempted to replicate the same pose and found some inconsistencies in the shaping - not that my example is great either. Does this help?

Like the arm on the right side of the picture has a prominent elbow shown - but it feels weird that the elbow is almost 'recessed' despite being shown with such a sharp angle.

Maybe something more like this (sorry I'm bad at arms)?

Thanks guys, i'll work on those panels asap. Really appreciate the critique.

The dog's name is Ellie; it's part of a comic i've been made to illustrate (I didn't write it) and since I haven't done a comic before nor ever been overly interested in comics it's been a bit of a learning experience.

If you're still in the mood for critiquing, here is another page i'm working on (context: dog finds starved friend dog, hears monkey nearby, accuses monkey of killing dog friend. the 3rd frame is meant to have the monkey's hand on the tree and the 5th frame is the dog's mouth in bite mode).
>>
>>77507031

I like this page better than the other. Even without the context of your post I would be able to understand the story from the art. The second and third panels are really expressive. I like the perspective of someone the dog is barking at behind the tree and the reveal int he next panel. Good job.

Where do I start if I want to learn how to draw?

How much time would it take me to go from point zero (=not being able to draw a circle) to 'decent' stuff?

Sorry for the monologue.

I really want to learn how to draw but it reminds me of when I was 15 and learnt how to play music. At first I didn't know a single thing and it took me 2 years to be decent and 5 years to start being able to write, play and mix good stuff. After which I gave up music because the problem with it is that you need to have several people on the same level (of everything) with you if you want to get serious with a band, which isn't easy as it sounds.

So I'm thinking, art, that's something I enjoy, and you don't need several other people, but I'm not sure I'll have the strength to work for another 5 years.

It seems really fun. I hope you can keep going with it. Do you have a site it'll go up on?

>>
>>77517681
Panel 2, Ellie's expression is kind of hard to decipher. Going straight from Panel 1 to Panel 2, I think that Ellie looks sad, mourning the loss of her friend. Ellie in high-action pose barking in Panel 3 is kind-of jarring in that context, but if Panel 2 is Ellie hearing the monkey, she needs to have a more "alert" expression. Panel 4 would benefit from curling Ellie's lips

The shading on the starved dog is really well done, and your use of color is superb. The lighting around the fallen dog in Panels 1 and 3 works well at drawing the eye towards the scene naturally. Use of perspective is great, and the Panel 3/4 jump in perspective is very visually exciting

I've said this before but You're overthinking it dustin. the best thing you can do is pick a temperature. For this I'm assuming a cool color and so just have all the shadings be a slightly skewed hue from what you'd normally use in the direction of a cooler color.
Or just shade it normal and keep it pushing and figure it out as you go. The most dangerous thing you can do is get hung up on it.

You use a lot of closeups and extreme angles. This makes stuff look dynamic, but also confusing. I recommend you add in some establishing shots that show how things are in relation to each other (like, I'm not sure how high and how large the window is in relation to the dog).

>>77523701

>>77524237
This too.

The way I see it, if a beginner has a fancy, expensive sketchbook, they might be terrified of making a mistake and 'ruining' the book; if it looks 'good' it has to have 'good' art in it.
With a cheaper alternative, there is less pressure to avoid making mistakes and they can just scribble, sketch and experiment freely.

Or maybe that's just me. I tend to have a cheap little pad just for scribbling out random ideas and doodles.

Then again, a hardcover book is a bit sturdier than a cheap notepad, especially if you aim to carry it everywhere. I also have a lined pad for writing in and the cover came off due to being jostled around in my bag.

Something like that. Clover is a saxaphonist who wants to go to a big international music competition but when she meets Sweet Grass she decides to first show her around the world before the competition, on the understanding that if they miss the trans-continental train they're going straight to the music competition (Clover timed it out so that they'd be able to JUST make it back to the competition so if they miss a train they'll miss the competition).
Also Clover has a cyborg arm and Sweetgrass has cyborg legs.

That's not how breasts work. Does she have boob socks? Material will envelope and turn breasts into one, mobius-like shape, and also because it looks skintight, it'd also make breasts hug each other. Breasts would only be that far apart if she'd be naked. Google how women in tshirts and dresses look for reference.

Sorry for the sloppy redline, it's just there to sell a point.

Hello guys!

So, the owner of an animation studio has show interest on my works, and I will show him some new drawings on the next week.

If I am luck, I could get a job there...so guys, what youthink of this one?
>>
>>77595030
Very cool
>>
>>77595030
Well I'm going to give you an honest answer since you're considering entering a professional environment.

Looks like something that was drawn by an artist who picked up a pen 2 years ago.
If that is the case, good job keep on improving. You're on the right track.
If you have been drawing longer than that, start studying anatomy and different colouring techniques right now.

The overall form or idea of the wolf isn't that far off, but the muscle structure is all over the place.
And since you're going for the werewolf thing, you need to make him way more hunched over.
Back needs to be wider and bigger, at the moment the wolf upper body is too big for that human body.
Now it looks like a man's body standing up with half a wolf protruding out of his shoulders.
Also those lines look like they could use some anti aliasing, now they're overly sharp.
If you used a pen tool, try freehanding the lines next time around.
Use more different line widths. Lines in the face are too thick.

Overall not that bad if you haven't been drawing that long, but there are basic concepts you need to study a bit more.
I don't see any real studio picking up a work of that quality.
So good luck and in getting that place, but if I were you I wouldn't get my hopes up.
Keep on practicing.

Just checked Photoshop and couldn't find an anti aliasing lines option.
Now that I think about it, I think PS does it by default, so the lines being too sharp is about something else.
Maybe your pixel per inch count is too low or maybe the lines got fucked when resizing image or something.

If you're using Manga Studio, then you can just click AA on from the brush settings.

This response may be a bit too late to be seen but the side plane on your cranium is wrong. The side of the head is flattened and this is poorly represented in your drawing. What's more is that the guidelines on the side plane are wrongly placed. The horizontal which helps with determine the X-axis of the head should be angled in the opposite direction to what you've drawn to accurately represent perspective and placement of the ear. The same is true of the vertical line.
I don't have a tablet but here's a quick MSPaint mock-up of what it should look like.
>>
>>77610725
Check your priorities. Do you prefer a creative hobby like drawing or do you prefer mindlessly consuming the same games and the same matches over and over again? If you're ok playing only video games, then it's ok. Give in to the reality that you just enjoy playing more than drawing and forget the stress. But if you want to draw... drop the games for a while. When you learn to enjoy drawing and you can draw a few hours here and there while enjoying it (this is the important part)... You'll find out that you have no need to play the games, that you'd rather spend the few hours after work watching a movie and then maybe drawing two-three hours than playing a video game.

>>77607529
>>77611225
These look very cool and fluent. However, they all look very similiar. Are they a group of side characters or are you planning just a few drawings with them? Are they in a situation where everyone is feeling tranquil peace? If not and they're main characters of a comic or such, they should have different, conflicting personalities, postures and looks imo.

I legitimately like the Fedora and the Tilby. It sucks when a cool hat gets such a negative stigma to it.
>>
>>77614904
Likewise

Really, I think it's the way you dress, if you wear a fedora or trilby you better have a smart suit on as well. Just having it on with your meme t-shirt makes you look like a neckbeard.
>>
>>77614930
Especially if you have it on and also have a neck beard. There's a certain amount of facial grooming that comes with these kinds of hats.

Well that goes without saying. It also helps if it's made from a good quality material.

no, just an illustration to depict a caravan of a spice trader and his assortment of bodyguards and mercenaries. they're no major characters in any case. I wanted to do something akin to the Osprey books detailling whatever's happening in the picture for the setting i'm making.

anyways, more progress. redrew the driver since i didn't like how he looked at first.

Any particular reason for anthropomorphic mice? I like stories that anthropomorphize animals to reflect the characters' personalities. I also like stuff like The Autumnlands that gives a reason for animals being humanlike with the ancient hero being revealed as a human.
>>
>>77616454
much like the weasels that achieved sapience. they're generally xenophobic and a bit paranoid about other, bigger creatures though, it's probably almost everything in the setting are trying to eat them. they eventually banded up, conquered the shit out of places and became one of the most populous races in there; even they are still hunted down by predators losing a ton of people each day. they've also a spiritual side which they're more attuned to using magic and have connections with the spirits and the spirit world.

the mice there are mercenaries hired by the caravan. these mice usually don't conform to the social norms of other mice so, they're more open about joining with their natural predators so long as they get paid

Reportedly he had "appeared on the public highway wearing upon his head what he called a silk hat (which was shiny lustre and calculated to frighten timid people)" and the officers of the Crown stated that "several women fainted at the unusual sight, while children screamed, dogs yelped and a younger son of Cordwainer Thomas was thrown down by the crowd which collected and had his right arm broken"."

Well, this was the time when people hanged a monkey because they thought it was a French spy

>According to local folklore, the term originates from an incident in which a monkey was hanged in Hartlepool, England. During the Napoleonic Wars, a French ship of the type chasse marée was wrecked off the coast of Hartlepool. The only survivor was a monkey, allegedly wearing a French uniform to provide amusement for the crew. On finding the monkey, some locals decided to hold an impromptu trial on the beach; since the monkey was unable to answer their questions and because they had seen neither a monkey nor a Frenchman before, they concluded that the monkey was in fact a French spy. Being found guilty the animal was duly sentenced to death and hanged on the beach.

But to be honest, they would never be able to tell apart a french and a monkey. They should have be able to know that he wasnt french tho, because he didnt surrended to them.

During the Napoleonic period, the French conquered most of Europe and were widely regarded to have the most powerful land army in the world. Even going into WW1 and WW2, where they got their stigma for being cowards and surrender-monkeys, they were still seen as a truly potent force; hence why the world was shocked that the Nazis beat them so easily!

God it annoys me when people make that joke about 18th and 19th century French...

Also, draw on printer paper. Go to Staples or whatever and buy a block of the stuff. You'll want to draw as much as possible and as you're starting out quantity is going to matter more than quality. Keep on practicing drawing basic shapes until you can get them down.

Also try and learn how to steady your hand, draw lightly as a lot of your lines are rather hard and shaky. Think of your pencil like a brush, you can always add more to a little bit of pencil marking but it's a lot harder to take it away, so start off soft.
