If it was somebody I knew I'd try and tailor it to something I figure they might like.

Like a mate of mine is big into fantasy, and has a great (and somewhat crude) sense of humour, so I lent him Orc Stain as his first comic.

But an entirely hypothetical blank slate person? Hmm, I might take the easy route and go with one of the recent Best American Comics collections
