What happened to the indian tech guy who was supposed to be the new Ant-Man?
>>
Giant-Man, actually.
He was on cover of Astonishing Ant-Man so I guess he'll show up in comic sooner or later.
>>
Nigga's gay too. And lives in San Francisco. I wonder where all the Giant Man fans complaining they can't identify with their favourite hero anymore because he's not a straight white male like them are?
>>
>>77475413
>Giant Man fans
Kek.
>>
>>77475413

You don't really get Giant-Man fans, just pymfags.
>>
>>77475359
Got a lucrative job making phone calls for $1 a week.
>>
>>77475413
>Nigga's gay too
does it matter?
>>
>>77475522

It does to /tv/ & /pol/. Characters are only allowed to be white males and as a white male you can only identify with white males. It's the rules man. Also turning a beloved hugely popular straight white American hero like Giant Man into a gay indian is white genocide. If comics were meant for the gay indian market they should make their own.
>>
>>77475581
>hugely popular
Yeah, right.
>>
>>77475413
I bet the Indian guy is really into Giant Man. He's always going on about how much he likes big men.
>>
>>77475359
>implying anyone cares about potential sidekick of a bland old legacy that only Edward Wright and the MC2 guy were obsessed with

And apart from Goliath, Giant-Man was the shittiest suit anyway so even Pymfags hardly care especially since this way Pym can go back to science adventurer or Wasp
>>
>>77475581

They already had their bitch fit about it.

Does that mean that he won't be killed and buried in a tarp?
>>
>>77475359
It's not like anyone was using the Giant-man name at the time. This happens after Pym became the new Ultron.
>>
>>77475615
I've got some bad news about Hank Pym...
>>
>>77476944

Well, good thing we're not on those boards then
>>
>>77476898
Where dis happen?
>>
>>77478941
Rage of Ultron.
>>
>>77479033
Pymtron happened in Rage of Ultron.
Raz getting the Giant-Man suit happened in the Ant-Man annual.

As for the rage, it was mostly people just going "eh." Pymfags are more angry about the whole Pymtron thing being canon and what that might mean for the character in the future.

It's not like Pym doesn't have two other identities as well as his own name if/when he comes back.
>>
>>77475413
>>77476760
do you get your rocks off by being antagonistic? I mean, do you go out of your way to take joy in making people annoyed?

It's funny, because I bet you post a lot about why we need more diversity in comics, so minority kids have people like them.
>>
>>77479287
I'm more concerned about him drifting in space. Space= Bendis.
>>
>>77475581

>>
>>77475581

>>
>>77475581
/co/mblr, please. No one gives a shit about the /pol/ and /tv/ boogeyman. It's just bait for newfags.
>>
>>77475581
Why are people so obsessed with skin color
>>
>>77479510
Because you can ruin a white phenotype but you can't ruin dark/brown/black phenotype.
>>
>>77479348
Can't confirm it myself, but I've heard people saying Waid plans on using Pymtron in ANADA?
>>
>>77475359
Wasn't this guy just some random henchman? Are they trying to make another Scott?
>>
>>77479604
Oh, gosh darn it.
>>
>>77479510
why are people so obsessed with changing characters who are already established to pander to sjws instead of making their own minority heroes?
>>
>>77479785
Waid likes Pym, and Waid writes a great Pym. All things being what they are, it could be a lot worse. And who knows, he might undo Pymtron like he did Pymlok.
>>
>>77479785

Hey he's stuck in space, you want Pymtron flying into the Bendis stuff?

Also Vision's back and on the team and I want that drama
>>
>>77479827
Because that's too hard to make a new character. If you change an already existing you get publicity from people who are mad about the change and the already existing fame of that previous character.
>>
>>77479995
I'm just afraid that he'll be cackling villain, that's all. And as >>77480030 said, alternative would be Bendis. I'd rather have evil Pymtron over anything Bendis-related.
>>
>>77479827
Nobody cares about new characters.
So people don't get as mad, the characters themselves don't get as much press, and they don't have a more popular character/legacy to fall back on.
>>
>>77479995
Brevoort said it'll be Waid. I honestly thought it'll be King in Vision's solo but he said neither Pym nor Ultron are there.

If it's Waid we'll need to wait for months though, probably until that shitty event and Cap vs. Cap ends.
>>
>>77479827
Because it's easier to make money off the ass ravaged nerds, as well as making money off the retards who want to stick it to the ass ravaged nerds.
>>
>>77480144

Weird King would say that with the whole fathers-family themes of Vision.
>>
>>77475581

People just don't like bad castings or characterization.

If the summary of a character reboot is 'he's exactly the same, but gay and brown now!', that's shitty. It's not inventive, it's a cliche. Writing that insists an individual's personality is somehow intrinsically tied to their race or sexual orientation is lazy, wrong, and frankly just a tiny bit prejudiced. The fact that this style of writing is being pushed over and over again by liberal writers makes it doubly cringeworthy.

We just want good writing.
>>
Why isn't Marvel pushing Pym as a diversity character? Mentally ill are a pretty marginalized group and you could tell an interesting story about him coping both with his ilness and the social stigma around it and how it factored into his current situation. Waid and Remdender both kind of explored this but not much, really.
>>
>>77480196
Actually, that guy has a chance.

He's completely different from Hank or (current)Scott. His race never comes up in the story, same for his sexuality(one wouldn't think he was gay were not for the kiss panel)

So, yeah. He's pretty much a blank state for any author to paint.
>>
>>77480319

Humpries was the one who made him canon bi-polar.
>>
>>77480319
Nobody cares about the mentally ill.
>>
>>77480417
Yep. People speculated for a long time that. Now is it rampant headcanon like Icegay or he actually show symptoms? Fuck me if I know.
>>
>>77480442
Harleyfags say hi.
>>
>>77480396
>His race never comes up in the story, same for his sexuality
>He's pretty much a blank state for any author to paint.

>Oh god, that X-men Angel is so hot!
>I should ask him to join me in the designated shitting streets!
-written by superstar writer Brian Michael Bendis.
>>
>>77480417
Shooter claims he wanted to do it but it seems like trying to look better now after slappening and other shit from his run.

Also, he was only diagnosed properly in Avengers AI, writers were treating him as mentally ill for quite a long time before that. It was changing between bipolar, schizophrenia (I think this particular confusion comes from some meds used in therapies for victims of both of these are similar?) and plain depression.
>>
>>77480487

nah Pym clearly had mental problems.

>>77480532

But even before Shooter is the whole Yellowjacket thing
>>
>>77480532
they aren't even mutually exclusive, so he might have all of three
>>
>>77480503
>Harkeyfags
>caring about the mentally ill
They only care about their waifu and her oh-so-tragic story, not actual mental ilness. Otherwise they'd be all over doc Magnus or Robotman too.
>>
>>77480563
This. A lot of people who are diagnosed with heavier cases of bipolar disorder are often also diagnosed as schizophrenic with borderline DID and depression.
>>
>>77480517

I'd read it.
>>
>>77480564
Doc Magnus is my waifu.
>>
>>77480564
Their loss. Doc Magnus is amazing.
>>
>>77480563
Depression and bipolar are, actually, since the diagnosis for bipolar by default covers the depression phases. Bipolar and borderline personality disorders aren't, though, and none of them are with schizophrenia or, say, autism.
>>
>>77479342
Of course he does, he's a plain jerk. I can call him a faggot or a kek or some other buzzword but these type of people are hateful jerk who only get off from ruining others good times. With social justice being all the rage it gives jerks like this an outlet to be straight up mean for no other reason than the fact that they can and claim they have the moral high ground bc, whity has it all and we deserve some of it.
You know what fuck them. They can force their way into corporate positions and ruin shit for the fans but fuck them. The fans will just create more and more oc or just create new characters that don't bend to their rules.

Because for all their bluster, all they can do is take. Take take take, but they cannot create
>>
>>77480635
So, bipolar schizo.

I'm not sure how I feel about the deaging in New 52 but then it's not like he was particularly old for the most part before, especially after it was established Morrow is his mentor.
>>
After seeing this discussion about Pym's mental state I want to see a scene where the Avengers apologize to Pym for treating him like shit all these years.
It would be a similar 'we failed an Avenger' moment like when Carol gave them shit for not caring that she was raped by her space baby or something.
>>
>>77480951
The best we got was Jan taking some of the blame for Pym's mental state during Busiek's Avenger's run and Jan's eulogy in Rage of Ultron. No one else cares.

tfw /co/'s adamant about Jan's being a bitch when she's usually the first to accept responsibility for anything shitty she's done and hasn't really been an asshole since the 70s.
>>
>>77480686
Auto corrected kek to kek. That made me laugh pretty loud
>>
>>77481055

i usually complain she's just bland.
>>
>>77481078
I can accept that complaint.
>>
>>77480951
Pym and Wanda don't have enough fans for shit like this

>>77481055
I really liked that part in RoU, the description of depression episodes in it was easily one of the most relatable lines in capeshit for me I'm bipolar myself
>>
>>77480951
We all know how it's going to end. Pym's going to be shat on publicly after he's unfused by Vision and Tony, and probably Cap and Jane as well while Kamala, Sam, and Miles just stand around thinking "wow, he really is a jerk."

Shitting on Pym is a spectator sport for the Avengers, especially when it comes to Ultron.
>>
>>77475376
>Giant-Man, actually.
DESIGNATED SHITTING BLOCKS
>>
>>77481454
Unless that's what the editorial will force, it's not going to happen as long as Waid's writing. I have mixed feelings about some of his work but he genuinely likes Pym and portrays him as a victim in pretty much everything about him he wrote so far

Spencer, though? If he gets to do it, then yeah, obviously.
>>
>>77481226

Man I would love to see someone write Pym and Wanda bonding over that stuff.
>>
>>77481601
Is this how ship is born?
>>
>>77481601
It's a friendship that has a lot of potential. A lot of their history has a lot of shared importance. It's weird that they've interacted on only a surface level.
>>
>>77481643
Please no. Wanda was a silver age princess. She needs a male friend to talk to that doesn't want to fuck her. Besides that's getting in the way of best ship of Pym/Tigra.
>>
>>77481707
Yeah, I forgot about Tigra. There's many characters who don't get page time.
>>
>>77480532
it's worth mentioning that mental health is still a bit of a crapshoot. A lot of the time you see a specialist, their training says you 'could' have one or more of 'blah blah blah', then they come up with a big list of drugs that might help and you basically just work through the list, hoping none of them makes your condition worse in the meantime
>>
>>77475413
I am a Giant-Man fan
I am Indian
All is good
>>
>>77481601
I'd like to see an Avengers roster that only consists of characters that get screwed over constantly. Pym, Wanda, Wonder Man, Vision, and so on.

>>77481707
Best ship is Pym x a decent therapist. And agreed, Wanda and Pym should be friends if anything. Also, wouldn't the age difference be pretty big? Pym's the oldest founding Avenger.

One more thing I've never seen elaborated on: is Pym meant to be poor when he's not being financed by Janet? It seemed like he couldn't even get a stable job before Secret Invasion.
>>
>>77481643

Scarlet/Vision OTP forever I will fight you.
>>
>>77475359
>What happened to the indian tech guy who was supposed to be the new Ant-Man?

He got caught shitting in the street and was sent back to India, where he caught dysentery while bathing in the river.
>>
>>77481797

>roster that only consists of characters that get screwed over constantly

You mean by Bendis? Meaning like all the classic Avengers? yes plz
>>
>>77480088
Bendis though DOES like Hank though. Remember, he canonized the fact that Pym's soul is pure goodness, to the point that it weaponized Pym's memories to turn 99% of the skrulls brainwashed with them to rebel against their masters
>>
>>77481797
>It seemed like he couldn't even get a stable job before Secret Invasion.

He goes the Richards path when he's not on an Avengers team, getting paid to speak at lectures and selling his tech and such. He's just not as business savvy.

For a while, though, especially between the time of his getting kicked out of the Avengers and when he became groundskeeper for the West Coast team he was homeless. No one wanted to hire him due to his mental state being public knowledge and the rest didn't want to hire him because of the slap. None of his friends on the Avengers were talking to him, so for a time he was homeless. The 80s were a bad time to be Hank.

Post-Secret Invasion he took all the shit he was inventing and put it in the open market except the things too dangerous for the public to have, took over Jan's clothing company during the time of her death, and then used the proceeds from both to start a non-profit in her name for battered women.
>>
>>77481922
My hatred for Bendis aside, that moment with SkrullPym was neat. I just don't trust Bendis after Uncanny.
>>
>>77481922
Wasn't that the only case when Bendis portrayed Pym in positive light? Pretty sure even one of the meme monologue pages posted in Bendis threads had evidence for the contrary, might be wrong though
>>
>>77481454
That's why I said 'after reading this discussion'. Your absolutely right that unless the book is really ready to approach the subject it's going to be business as usual.
>>
I was worried about Pymtron myself because it sounded like Austen's luckily unused idea for Disassembled where Pym would get all buddy-bros with Ultron and mass-produce drones

I kinda hope we'll get the WCA Mark the Ultron out of this mess for a while
>>
>>77482080
>>77482045
I don't think Bendis hates Pym. Bendis loves the soap opera of the bronze age. So this means asshole Pym, evil Wanda, and so on.
>>
>>77481601
Agreed. Maybe we'll get something like this after Jessica Jones comes out and renews interest in how being a superhero can fuck you up super hard. Watchmen covers similar material but it feels like it does it in a detached, clinical way. Wanda and Pym talking about it would be up close and personal.
>>
>>77482116

I want Vision and Mark leading Robot Avengers so bad
>>
I would hope a Pym and Wanda bonding book would include Doc Samson as their therapist
>>
>>77481801
Wanda and Pym would technically be dating her ex's grandfather.

Pym would just be better off as a DC character I feel

I might be biased but if you don't take Batman's rogues gallery into account, DC is treating their mentally ill characters much better. The first arc of Morrison's DP alone is pretty amazing in regards to that
>>
>>77482305
Twelve issues long, it was neat.
>>
>>77482305
About 12 issues. If you like Pym it wasn't half bad. It's one of Humphries least objectionable works.

But I wouldnt say it was good
>>
>>77481985

>No one wanted to hire him due to his mental state being public knowledge and the rest didn't want to hire him because of the slap.

also he was in jail for helping egghead steal Adamantium for a while
>>
>>77482375
was it the result of that arc where Egghead framed him for murder?
>>
>>77482276

Yeah a lot of shit was going down, Egghead was framing Pym as a villain and stuff.

Trail of Yellowjacket is an amazing story and it sucks all people remember is the slap
>>
>>77482406
People will remember shit you do and will ignore everything good.
>>
>>77482375

Egghead should just become a Sivana expy. Hell, making him an Eggman expy would help.

Ultron is amazing and I don't see how he's a bad nemesis.

The only other prominent enemy is, uh... that huge beetle that got a monster variant cover? I liked that story, though.

There's always Mark Millar too. Now that's grade A enemy.

Then he came back as a commie in West Coast I think, though.
>>
>>77482789
He's gotten Absorbing Man's attention recently a few times. I don't think it necessarily counts as roguehood, but it's worth mentioning.

If you retool a lot of these people who didn't make it beyond the silver age, you could have a pretty formidable Rogue's Gallery, though. Make their tone kind of like Flash's Rogues only on a worldwide scale rather than just a certain city, a Thieves' Guilde/Masters of Evil-type set up.
>>
>>77482876
You probably could retool Madame Macabre into a horror-themed assassin easily enough.

Maybe giving Pym rarely used insect-themed villains from other heroes' rogues galleries would work? Swarm or Infestation don't see much use anyway.

Pym still has a better list of villains than Janet, though. Unless you want to count Kang it's basically just Whirlwind.

Seeing Infestation in a drawn-out arc could be pretty cool, actually. Make her a new member of the theoretical rogues' gallery but have her be sort of torn between her sadism and her desire to be a normal girl again. She could start out as a penitent member of Avengers Academy that eventually is revealed to be a double agent who uses her security access to allow the others in to ransack the academy for Pym's tech,

The bugs she controls can be resistant to Pym's own telepathy, or she could possibly wrest control of the ants and such he uses and turn them against him.
