>can't go out
well, I promised an Asterix dump, here we go.
>>77447247
bumpity, shit's wack yo
>>77447247
Are you guys doing alright?
>>77447303
I mean, shit, my fucking street is empty.
I wanted to jogg...
They just said at the radio "Don't go out, stay at home".
>>77447331
So they basically encourage you to go shitposting online instead.
>>77447368
asterix is never shitposting.
>>77447379
I didn't mean your thread specifically. Asterix is always qualityposting.
Except that one about aliens.
>>77447421
>Except that one about aliens.
urgh, don't remind me.
which one should I dump now? I seriously have basically nothing else to do the whole day.
And my studio is 10m2.
Do you have the Legionairy?
>>77447752
Good taste!
It's actually one of my favorite.
>>77447767
>one of my favorite.
Mine too
Right in the feel.
>>77447247
>just finding out now
Christ. I'm glad you're fine.
>>77447869
I just realised how they adapted some puns in the english version.
>>77447797
I like how Getafix isn't above making fun of Obelix too.
>>77447889
thanks to 4chan, I read *c uck* instead of *click*
>>77447880
Yeah, the translations are interesting, I have this one in German. Asterix is a series where it's necessary that the translators are creative.
>>77447880
Ptenisnet (Courdeténis) for best character
Thanks for the storytime, frenchbro. Hope you and everyone you know are doing okay.
I love how Asterix show Caesar.
It's the "bad guy", and yet, he isn't evil at all.
Ha, fuck that, I just need my jogging.
It should be fine now.
I hope I can come back alive.
>>77447984
Seeing Caesar get humiliated is always comedy gold.
>>77448033
Stays safe, frenchanon.
>>77448033
good luck frenchbro!
>>77447469
Je crois qu'il nous demande qui on est.
Putain la bonne époque.
Back!
Which one should I dump now?
>>77448389
...Cauldron. I love Cauldron.
>>77448389
Holy Terror by Frank Miller :^)
>>77447247
Bon courage, frère. Hope you're doing fine.
Thanks for the dump too, it's my first time with Asterix after hearing of it for so long.
>>77447288
>chief choleric
fucking kek
>>77448425
Cauldron then.
Maybe I should start translating Delirius from Druillet.
Or play some Chakan. (I really have nothing to do the whole day).
>>77447568
These silly gags always crack me up.
>>77448794
>Stealth_in_Skyrim.jpg

I feel bad for the pirates here.
For once, they did nothing bad.
>GoldmanSachs_making_business_with_Greece.jpg
Also, any good desktop chair recommandation? (I wanted to buy one today).
Those Captcha are crazy.
>>77448952
Those boars look so tasty.
>>77448962
>playing_spy_in_tf2.jpg
>>77448957
Asterix boars have always looked really tasty. The fact that they eat them contently likely helps convince us too.
So, I will work on that Delirius translation for now.
You can dump another asterix if you want.
>>77448919
Nice cameos from Goscinny and Uderzo in the bottom panel, there.
>>77449009
I believe this is one of only two times Asterix uses his sword in the entire series, with the other one being in Caesar's Gift.
>>77449422
Asterix in America (to cut the apple).
>>77447812
Thirding.
>>77447426
>video meliora proboque deteriora sequor
"I see and approve of the better, but I follow the worse."
From Ovid's Metmorphoses and basically means acting against your better judgement..
>>77449440
>Implying
>>77447364
how is valeaddedtax' potion practical in that sense? it just takes out pain, not grant invulnerability. his arms would still be scorched
>>77449713
maybe it's invulnerability but just against heat.
now dump the 'falling skies' as a reminder of where Asterix is right now
Thanks for the dump OP, I love seeing how they managed to translate Asterix jokes in english
>>77449440
Maximvs kekvs
>>77447450
Thank god for Schengen. Importing foreign druids got so much easier.
>>77447331
People went out when Boston got bombed. Glad they got all eight of those motherfuckers.
>>77447880
Goscinny considered the English translations the best. It helped that he knew English.
Well, translated 10 pages of Delirius. My head is quite dizzy. Tell me how it is, what I should improve, etc.
>>77451207
I'm not saying it's completely deserted, but quite a lot compared to the normal (shop, museum, and co being closed doesn't help though).
>>77447247
And you never will.
Get rekt, fags
Many thanks OP
>>77448896
>does it pay ?
>I see you've never done any acting
Lord, my sides.
>>77451667
What makes it even funnier is that nowadays being an actor is the best payed job
>>77451724
Like being a footballer: only if you are on the top.
>>77451724
in movies maybe, but not in a theater.
>>77451759
even the shittiest actor has it good. And you can always get on top, if you're good andjewish
BTW, I wonder if people are aware that there are also editions of Asterix with lexicon (the blue colored). I'm saying because I replaced these with my old white versions. The lexicons are great because they explain certain influences, parodies, and historical background
>>77451836
>BTW, I wonder if people are aware that there are also editions of Asterix with lexicon (the blue colored). I'm saying because I replaced these with my old white versions. The lexicons are great because they explain certain influences, parodies, and historical background
never saw that.
>>77451848
I guess that it's unique to Poland.
We love Asterix so much that we released a version with extra historic trivia and background stories, and influences behind certain characters
I thought that other countries had it as well
>>77451899
hmm, nope, we don't have them in France.
Any scan?
>>77451914
Give me ten minutes or less
>>77451936
neat
will post moar
the quality is not the best, but I only want to show how it looks like. This page is an introduction.
It summarizes the era when the volume was created, when it debuted, how, and some trivia
example
every entry was listed alphabetically
this page features the entry for characters, places in regard to this particular issue, atrium - explaining what it is, and quotes like Beati Pauperus...
>>77452057
>>77452009
>explanation for the latin citation
damn, I wouldn't mind if we had those in the french version.
>>77452089
plus context and source for particular quote.
Like Aleia Acta est being said by Ceasar before some battle and Veni Vidi Vici.
The lexicon is scanned from the volume Le Domaine des Dieux
One of character was a parody of Guy Lux. I don't know who he is, but I know this trivia thanks to lexicon
>>77452135
also the Quosque Tandem entry explain that the quote was taken from the speech of Cicero during the Catiline conspiracy (thank you uncle google)
>>77452135
he was a popular presenter on french TV.
>>77452163
It's good that the lexicon explained it because I think that the reference might be dated, and that way, now I understand the reference, when this dude advertises "godly" apartments during the gladiators' battle
also we have this neat book end.
If I'm not wrong, the newest volume will also have the lexicon version.
>>77452225
also the volumes are available in two formats of course: hardcover and softcover.
Another thing that is unique to poland, is that you buy european comics albums / volumes in bookstores, while american comics are sold in newstands.
>>77447288

Anyone notices that Asterix was partially revolutionary? I don't remember many comics using different fonts to accentuate different language, etc.
In many ways, Asterix was way more mature than a lot of DC / Marvel comics, it's just that it never gets the credit, because most folks think that the comic is targeted towards kids. Yet, they love to watch Asterix movies.
It's kinda funny, because my mother who considers comic books trash, thinks that Asterix is a piece of pure art.
any other Asterix you would like dumped?
I will play some Chakan now.
>>77452522
Le devin
>>77451388
Allo allo OP? I hope that these dastardly muslims didn't blow you away from this thread?
>>77452738
sheeiit where did you find that?
>>77448916
someone turn panel 4 into a reaction image
>>77452767
different anon, but I assume it's from Heavy Metal magazine
>>77452767
It was translated ages ago, but it's been out of print for decades. There's a new translation coming out next month on Amazon but the typesetting seems a little... shit.
>>77452945
And the original translation for comparison.
>>77452585
Let's do this (managed to complete another level in that fucking game thanks god).
>>77452786
any scans? Because if it's the cause, there is no need for a translation.
>>77452522
the gladiator, plz.
I love Asterix, i started reading them when I was in elementary and helped fuel my interest in linguistics and classical terms
>>77452972
What the fuck happened to that book
>>77452945
>>77452958
sheeiiit
Well, look like I don't need to translate it after all.
Maybe another comic would need it?
>>77452990
I said "Assume". I'm not 100% certain
Heavy Metal used to translate such stuff.
The covered Urm the Mad for fuck sake.
But nowadays, nope
>>77453000
Don't ask, it's the scan I found...
>>77452990
>The cause
my brain is melting.
>>77449440
Bonum est.
Polishfag. Funny trivia.
Goscinny means in Polish literally "a person who enjoys guests".
It always baffled me that while Polish Jews changed their names to more Polish sounding, they never wanted to change them back, even if they migrated. One could think that Goscinny being in France would actually want to use the name of his grandparents.
>>77453081
*I mean "person who enjoys having guests"
nothing sexual bros
>>77453086
How to not like that last panel?
More people should read french comics.
I'm not french
>>77453104

>>77453310
That scan is actually quite bad, I must admit.
>>77453331
Those first three panels crack me up.
>>77447247
Thank you for all this. Stay safe, anon!
>>77453554
Only if you pray to Allah
>>77453572
>Go to a metal concert
>get blew up
You can't make this shit up.
I will just stay here, dumping asterix, eating a chocolat and almond breat, and listen to ZZtop (I didn't bought those new headphones for nothing).
>>77453628
Holy fuck, not even metal concerts are safe?
But yeah, stay with us OP.
We should do these type of threads twice a week.
Maybe next time, I will do a storytime. I always wanted to storytime Gypsy (whatever it's called in english)
>>77453636

>>77453785
YESSSSSSSS, one of my faves. This was my first Asterix book
>>77453830
*hugs*
You wanted Gladiators, you have Gladiators
But yeah, thanks to OP for being based.
hu ho, the limit is 250 pictures, right?
holy shit, I forgot to bump
>>77454578
it's just that I was so entangled with the story that I forgot that you can't bump your own threads.
here, have a bump
>>77454596
What a bunch of dicks.
They could have let him sing, for once.
>>77454613

So OP, any final words like
"Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir"?
And seriously, don't go outside today.
If you really have to go, send your grandma.
And if you don't have grandma, send your best friend.
>>77454664

>but muh abs
>>77454692
If you're dropping Delirium, then how about picking up Les Innommables?
Ideally redoing the first 5 as well, because JJs translations was pretty mediocre and the scans was quite shitty as well.
>>77454720
>implying life is worth living without delicious french cheese
>>77454775
I actually hate the Innommables.
Sorry.
>>77454775
>implying life is worth living without delicious french cheese
One fucking day. One day without delicious awesome french cheese and thousand of days WITH delicious awesome french cheese. I'm not even french, and I understand the dilemma
Anyway OP, whatever you do, I hope that I will see you soon here (don't become a tripfag, it's a bad idea). I hate doing storytimes, but yes, I feel that I should do one or two next week. Unless I get keked too.
Also, if anyone have the english scan for Delirius...
>>77454834
I wonder if I should tell him about DC++, or is it still secret club?
>>77454787
Oh well, worth a shot.
It's only the first 5 that has a scanlation and there's 15+ tomes now.
I'm going to ask Ouash when the Wake project is over.
>>77454884
Here, what I have at home right now.
I can do a scan and even translation if people are interested.

Eh, our tastes differs vastly I see.
Olivier Rameau is another title I'd love to see scanlated, but I doubt you like it.
Was going to ask for a shot of the cover of that Spiriou book, because I can't guess the title or if it's even been translated to my language (most of the Spirou books are).
>>77455328
>Olivier Rameau is another title I'd love to see scanlated, but I doubt you like it.
eh, I saw it in store.
Never tried it, look some dumb but fun erotic comic.
I will see. How did you know this comic?

I just wish I had someone to talk about it with..
>>77455360
A few of them are translated to my language and I read those some 20-25 years ago, still got fond memories of the art.
They've been out of print since the late 80's here, just like most of Gotlibs things ;_;
>>77455483
save your energy OP, we don't want muslims to suck it out of you. And you're not alone.
Tell me OP, what do you like in comics, what makes you enjoy comics, what do you hate in comics?
>>77455676
I am obviously not OP, why are you replying to me?

>>77455759

like, most franco belgian classic (asterix, tintin, iznogoud, gaston, lucky luke, spirou, etc.), Corto Maltese, BlackSad. But also, the Fabulous Freaks Brothers, La Caste des métaBarons, The Technopriest, Thorgal, Requiem, Lone Sloane, BlueBerry, Barbe Rouge, Buck Danny (American should love this one), etc.
What I hate or just dislike: shits like Vuillemin stuff, One Piece (I tried to read it, but it's really just not my stuff, some random bullshit happen, and that's it because of a new super magical attack), Asterix and the Falling Sky (god). I don't really hate that much any comic series...
>>77456412
Mhm. Sometimes I want to be a succubus.
Anyway, you're not alone. If I can save at least one life, I want to. Please stay with us today. There will be more storytimes.
>>77456484
That make me think: Is there any english version of Buck Danny?
That would be a great storytime for /co/.
>>77456506
enough with this bullshit. If I had scanlations, I would storytime Gypsy. It's just that I don't have.
And I have to search for the. You're lucky, punk

The things is, I love OP, even if I don't know who he is, and yes, I feel obliged to contribute to /co/
I wanted to start a thread about "what comics have you read lately" but I was afraid that it would turn into shit-flinging. Maybe I am ready for that. But probably, I am not.
Now, I will fade into obscurity
>>77456576
There is/was a Heavy Metal compilation on KAT.
It might be labelled as Gipsy. The south america and the desert issues was pretty meh, but the other ones was nice.
>>77447618
As I recall, on the second to last panel, the Druid originally says that they'll keep fighting for ~1900 years.
The whole thing is a joke about the german infighting that lasted for hundreds of years in the middle ages, and finally ended in 1871 when the Prussians unified the, at the time, hundreds of smaller german states.
>>77456704
In other words, it will take a time. However, whether you are OP or not, you should be proud, because I want to contribute to /co/, and that's not a small feat.
>>77449454
Fourthing. I still have the book. The local release, anyway.
>>77456753
That would be quite unfair. It's not like France didn't have a lot infighting too.
>>77456811
I don't see how it is unfair - it is a historical fact. It's about as sensitive as a seer telling Caesar to trust Brutus (see >>77453066
).
Besides this is a humor comic, so it doesn't NEED to be fair or unfair either, especially towards the germans (who the French hate to this day).
>>77457183
>who the French hate to this day
lol no
>>77449440
The third panel doesn't even need to be edited man.
WE WANT ORGIES!
>>77457232
the word "porn" is more used than "orgie" on the internet/4chan.
>>77457204
It might be the other way around, with the way the EU politics are going around - I haven't checked lately. But the French and German historically ALWAYS had a bone to pick with each other. Hell, both World Wars can be traced back to that.
>>77455982
>200 hundreds deaths numbered
>200 hundreds
>20 000
129 dead, according to the procureur four hours ago, and around 80 wounded.
>>77457322
That's eu.
You may say the same about France and Britain. Or even Italy.
>>77452958
>>77452945
New version lacks a little character but I kinda prefer the legibility. Except for panel 3, that's just weak.

>>77458350
>That's eu.
Last time I checked both France and Germany were part of the EU.

I know Goscinny and Uderzo later regretted The Goths. Felt it was too mean spirited and came from an injured place so close after WWII. You'll notice any further German characters in Asterix are all jolly fatso stereotypes rather than warmongers.
>>77447976
Hahaha, that third panel is very clever. It delights the art snob in me.
>>77463100
Oh shit, I never noticed that.
