We just know this Volume ends somewhere towards the end of January. No word on Volume 4. But the fact that RvB is an anthology season this year with different writes and the fact they are interested in having the show in different art styles might free up Miles and Kerry and the animation team to get more work on RWBY done.

Everything that was revealed during both arcs could have easily been revealed either later, in less time, or in a way that actually moved the overall story forward.

The writing is abysmal and that people are actually defending it or saying it's better than something is astounding. Even generic romcom and generic light novel adaptation battle shounen harem anime have better writing than RWBY.

This is part of the problem, RWBY get more focus overall, but most of that is plot relevant so it ends up shared with all the other plot characters like the teachers and villains. Between that we've only really got some good moments for Blake and Weiss, and some for Yang.

JNPR screentime, on the other hand, is different. It has it's own plot about Jaune and Pyrrha's relationship with him. So all the focus goes to him.

Current running theories are that his family deliberately hid information on unlocking his aura from him (for some reason) or he on the spur of the moment ran off to be a hunter without much thought it into it.

I agree though the scene was handled pretty badly. If he had alluded any of either of those theories at the time of the explanation it would have gone a lot better. I'd personally hope for something related to his family honestly, would definitely add an interesting dynamic.
