It's the best Scooby Doo thing period, and I say that as a fan of the franchise as a whole. It's a darker and more arc involved take on their mystery solving, funny as hell too. The second half of season 2 is where things get really fucked up, but the whole series is solid. There's some rough romance shit in the first parts of it though, so if you want to watch it be aware of that.

Lets say by some crazy point, that bill can't time travel.
He set up all of his chess pieces for this time through the first pass. Watching, learning, seeing what he can do and manipulate to get what he needs.

In some ways, Stan and Mabel made big mistakes. Stan reactivated the portal, causing the rift. Mabel gave Bill the rift, thinking it was Blendin and not knowing what the rift was.
Yet Ford is the one who built the portal in the first place, and he (and Dipper) didn't tell Mabel about the rift, allowing her to be manipulated. They've all messed up to varying degrees but I still say Ford's screw ups are the biggest.
