Finally someone that also hates Junjou´s style and plot. Their mouths are so damn ugly when they kiss.

Anyway, I wouldn´t say yaoi, I´d say mostly shounen-ai/BL in regular anime like Seraph. You might find mostly hints or fanservice in others regarding supporting characters.

So are there any shounen-ai or BL anime that you'd recommend? There's love stage but that's Junjou minus the hideous artstyle, and there's that other BL with the 20 - something year old character who's in love with his little 14 year old brother.

And then the rest that I've found is Junjou Roshitica or from 2006 or earlier and the art style is too bad for my shallow taste.

If you want quality BL then you might as well forget anime altogether and turn to manga. But if you want a very good, canonical BL anime that came out recently, there is only Doukyuusei. Go watch it, now. And then read the manga.
And of course, No.6 but then again, the manga and novels are way better than the anime.

Quick history lesson:

Back in the late 90s/early 2000s, in English speaking places "yaoi" was used for NSFW, and "shounen-ai" was used for SFW. Recently, people found out that the Japanese use "BL" and started using that too.

In Japan, yaoi and BL is the same thing and there's no different terms for NSFW/SFW, they just use "R18" labels when needed. Using "BL" is a lot more common than using "yaoi" though. Turns out that they never used "shounen-ai" at all and it's actually some thing about little boys there.

I think English speakers tried to create the whole yaoi/shounen-ai split for nsfw/sfw because there's so much underage into that kind of thing in America and a lot of sex negativity. Like I've actually seen a lot of English speaking anime fans get really angry finding out there's a harmless sex scene in their romance manga for some reason.

Vassalord is pretty good (great story but the main couple doesn't 100% get together until the very end)
10 Count is good (the main character is so cute!) but the story is kinda choppy and hard to follow.
Starfighter is a good webcomic but it's unfinished.
10 Dance is also great but unfinished.

We've had this discussion many a time so I'll just leave you a list that was compiled a while back.
If you are looking for realism then I recommend Miyamoto Kanou and Yoneda Kou.

I agree that Love Stage is much, much better than JR. The artwork for one is actually decent and it is not rapey. I also find it genuinely funny while every time JR does comedy, I cringe. Then again when it does drama I also cringe.

Yami no Matsuei is not really BL, and the author's been retconning stuff, but the anime was entertaining.
Mirage of Blaze was entertaining too, if you can get past the cheap animation. The OVAs look nice, though.
And I always thought the Gravitation anime was pretty funny, though I'm kind of easily amused, so I dunno lol. The songs are pretty catchy.

To add to this, there have been some dark fucking times where I watch a super popular show to get familiar enough with the characters, then go around looking for high quality fanfiction.

Coffee/flower/tea/whatevershop AUs are fucking cancer, but any kind of in-universe, novel length story on Ao3 is pretty serviceable.

Seraph of the End fucking sucked though. They legit spoiled most of the first season in the opening.
