Um, if I was to recommend anything, I have yet to read something by Kou Yoneda that I didn't love. That woman seems to know how to write intriguing characters without going too tropey.

I'm pretty sure Old Xian is Chinese. I mean, I mainly follow mosspaca's female's yuri comic, Tan Jiu's Their Story and Mosspaca's Advertising and in Tan Jiu's comic they had someone raise the Chinese flag for school, and they also make little nods to Chinese culture in their advertising comic, and then they also both use Weibo which is a Chinese website and also pic related is not in Korean.

I guess that is enough to keep this thread going.
There are plenty more you just have to find them.
I am so glad many artists are moving away from that disgusting old school shoujo-esque style. With the triangle faces, disproportionate bodies, and bug eyed bottoms.
I really do not like stories where the uke is a girl who happens to have a penis they tend to be bug eyed too.

By the way, none of these are like 19 tian.
Which I am also enjoying very much as well.
Hehe, none of them are as light hearted.
I would like one like that too.

Honto Yajuu comes to mind when it comes to comedic light heartedness but it is still not the same.

Just a little but fucking great.

Why is SemexSeme so hard to find?
>>
>>2974030
>SemexSeme
that is just being versatile I don't think that counts as a fetish.
>Why is SemexSeme so hard to find?
Bara stuff tends to be less restrictive with who is topping and bottoming than yaoi. but that is not for everyone.
>>
>>2974029
honto yajuu was such a good manga holy shit. i love that artist so much
>>
>>2974058

It's not all that rare, unless you're just counting the crap that gets scanned and translated.
>>
>>2974068
>regular yaoi manga not hentai.
when you say yaoi I think porn
for romance with non explicit sex I think of BL or shounen ai
>>
>>2974096
In Japan, BL is both.

I'm surprised yaoi and shounenai are terms still used here.
>>
>>2974087
I can't read moon and I am too poor to buy so yes.

>>2974096
When I say Yaoi I think of romance/drama that involves sex.
Similar to seinen or josei that have heterosex in their stories. I do not view it any different than that.
>>
>>2974086
Tsuritama doujins?
Basugay doujins?
Doujins from series that have tanned characters.
I for one am waiting on that Kekkai Sensen.
>>
>>2974106
I imagine most of the people on /cm/ are younger/newfriends. Yaoi is the catch all term in the west for gay anime/manga regardless of explicitness. while in japan its hardly used or if it is used its for porn.
>>
>>2974137
I have always considered yaoi to involve sex and shounen ai to just be vanilla love
>>
>>2974158
"Shounen ai" is either the old-school super-melodramatic stuff (think Kaze to Ki no Uta), or creepy shit. BL is BL whether it's cute love stories where any sex happens off the page or full-on porn; there's just a spectrum of explicitness within the category.
>>
>>2974175
Shounen ai is Boys love.
>>
This anon
>>2974158
is correct
>>
The artstyle really grew on me. The characters are written in a very lively way, they don't have that generic seme/uke dynamic you see in most bl manga.
>>
>>2974258
I think all of these avoid that generic uke/seme relationship.
Anon included Asumiko too.
>>2974028
Anime by A-1 soon

>>
>>2974239
>>2974246

Protip: "translates as the same" != "the same". "BL" is the acronym for the exotic foreign words "boys" and "love," adopted to refer to a publishing category. "Shounen-ai" can refer to a historic period in the development of BL, or to pedo-ass "boy-love," and I dont trust my gaijin ass to make the distinction clear in terms of what I say and who I say it to...so I'll stick to "BL," and so should anyone else who isn't a fucking native speaker.
>>

I have been using the terms
BL/shounen ai and yaoi for years now.
That shit is not about to change.
As long as you fags get what I am talking about it's all good. It's not like I use these terms in my 3dpd life anyway.
>>
>>2974373
Nigga what?
Nobody argues about gay terminology on /a/
Not even the homo thread.
>>
>>2974392

>>
>>2976561
>it's not that simple
It's defined pretty clearly when you're shopping for it in Japan, and what the material is classified as is almost always dependant on the mangaka's gender regardless of content.
>>
I don't understand fujoshis that claim BL is made by women for women.
That's like saying Seinen is mabe by men for men or Shounen is made my boys for boys.
I find it very stupid.
Yes, the genre was started by women but why does it matter?
It attracts a male fanbase what is wrong with that?
That's like guys getting mad that girls are reading works aimed at male audiences.

Some women like reading Yuri, you don't hear people saying that that genre is for men by men.
It is silly.(Well, atleast I haven't)

An argument that gets thrown around a lot is that guys wouldn't understand and that the characters are made so that WOMEN can self insert.

I don't understand.
I don't self insert.
As a woman, I like reading yaoi because it is two men that are fucking.
I really do not like it when the bottom is feminine and bug eyed. Might as well call the uke a girl who happens to have a penis.

Just because works are aimed at specific audiences doesn't mean it is just for them.

Can't wait for Japan to be a bit more open minded. I want more male BL mangaka cause reading it from their perspective is great.
>>
Japanese gay men tend to dislike BL quite a bit.

i think you're under the impression that BL is an umbrella term for all manga depicting gay men in a relationship. it isn't. geicomi is gay comics for gay men and what you should be looking for if you want to "read it from their perspective".

people emphasise who it's by and marketed to so you have an idea of the content. is it porn for women? chances are it focuses on emotional fulfillment first and foremost. is it porn for men? chances are it focuses on graphic sex first and foremost. it's a general rule that can be broken, but it's still a commonly followed rule nonetheless.

there's nothing discriminating about saying that particular genres are targeted to certain audiences, and when people look for something in particular they don't want to find something else entirely. like it or not, men and women are very different, and it is necessary to distinguish porn to their intended audiences. I don't think you'd be pleased walking into the women's section at an adult store and finding gangbang porn for men all over the place just because some women like it, would you? and let me tell you, gay men in Japan would be annoyed to find BL in geicomi shops, and women would be annoyed to find bara in BL shops, for completely understandable reasons. they're looking for something specific, they're not closed minded.
>>
I think the confusion comes from the fact that a lot of the males who enjoy BL and shonen-ai aren't really gay in the first place. And they don't like bara.
So saying that BL is for women and bara is for men will have a lot of BL male fans protest that broad generalization.
Just my 2cents.
>>
>>2976786
I don't know why they would care, unless they're embarrassed to be associated with women. Nobody will deny that chick flicks are intended for women, doesn't keep them from being a guilty pleasure of some males. Nobody has once said that males can't like BL, but the fact that some do doesn't negate the intended audience and who the authors generally are. You're not going to find BL in men's stores or gay magazines, you're going to find them in women's stores and magazines for reasons that should be obvious.
>>
>>2976786
>BL and shonen-ai
you're being redundant.
>>
>>2976787
>You're not going to find BL in men's stores or gay magazines, you're going to find them in women's stores and magazines
I think that while this traditional separation happens very clearly in japan, here in the west the audiences are not as clearly defined and western fans would probably not want to see the japan divide transposed like that.
(And most western BL fans don't physically walk into stores to buy their mangas.)
>>
>>2976788
this is shameful, I am going to clean the dishonor off my clan by doing sudoku at dawn.
>>
>>2976789
The only reason for it being that way in the west is people being unaware of the proper terms to use. The fact that people still use the terms yaoi and shounen-ai in this thread is evidence of that. I think it would be helpful to raise awareness of the proper terms so people can find what they're looking for. A lot of people could be looking for something like bara but getting BL because they don't know that gay comics for gay men even exist.

The only other reason I can think of is those male fans' embarrassment to be associated with a "woman's hobby", which is stupid and should be shunned. Male BL fans in Japan (fudanshi) have no issue admitting that it's a genre intended for women, because that's what it is. That, and social justice reasons, with getting triggered at the idea of gendered marketing.
>>
>>2976789
>here in the west the audiences are not as clearly defined
Everybody thinks girls when they think BL/yaoi/whatever you want to call it. The rest of 4chan even thinks /cm/ is predominantly female, and it probably is, and probably underaged too unfortunately.
>>
>>2976786
Somehow I doubt that actual male fans care about people saying it's for girls as much as overtly politically correct tumblrfags worry about being "inclusive" and not hurting their precious feelings.
>>
>>2976798
You'd be surprised. Males that love BL and hate fujoshi also exist. It's hilarious seeing them bite the hand that feeds them.

We've done this before and got quite some great recs, here's a sample.

My favorite BL mangaka is probably Miyamoto Kano. Her world is very realistic, minus the occasional supernatural manga, and above all her characters are believable. I am particularly fond of everything around Rules even if I can't seem to warm up to Yuki.

And of course, Yoneda Ko always deserves a mention in a thread like this.

Glad to see Sakura Gari here, it's full of all things wrong and still absolutely amazing.

>>2977558
Only read Endless World by Dokuro; liked it, highly recommend it.

What I've read recently:
Papa's Assassin (pic related) - about a teenager with an oyaji fetish who gets infatuated with his adoptive father. It's quirky, but serious at times, I really liked it, but like the main character, I have an oyaji fetish, so I may be biased.
What I reread recently: Vassalord - sometimes I think I won't ever mature psychologically past the age of twelve. This was one of the first BL-themed things I read while still in my edgy vampire phase, and I keep coming back to it. The story is all over the place, hard to understand to boot because of shitty translations, and the ending leaves some things frustratingly open, but there's just such obvious love between the leads...It's really sexy without any sex at all (until the extra in the final chapter).

Doujinshi have more to work with in regard to developed characters/worldbuilding. They get straight to the romance because you have acquired the foundation of the relationship from what you can draw from canon. They get to borrow quality ingredients to make some quality porn for you, basically.

Original BL manga has to start from scratch and usually the writing just plain ol' isn't that great PLUS if you stray too far from the main point of it (homo flirting/fucking/feelings) you aren't going to get return customers.

I mean, there's a reason fanworks are so much more popular than original stuff, and it's pretty much this.

But I mean seriously, if you like primarily BL manga/anime I don't see how you can be straight. Things like No. 6 I get, because the primary focus isn't just gay romance, but things that almost entirely focus on that can't attract a straight male audience very well.
>>
>>2983778
Junjou Romantica has many straight male fans.
Then again the ukes and the semes are women in the bodies of men.
>>
>>2983779
It can't be a big hit though right? I've never met or even heard a straight guy say they like Junjou Romantica, I mean I'm sure they exist but they're so rare they might as well not.
>>
>>2983778
you're so wrong
I like stories with romance (which I admit is not a common thing among males)
And I came to realize that I prefer soft male/male stuff. you know why? because since I am a straight male, I feel zero sexaul attraction to the protagonists and thus the love story appear a lot more "pure" and contains some sort of childlike innocence.
Straight love stories make me think of either sex or of the bullshit you get with real life romances. Yuri stories are even worse to me, they're just sex.
BL OTOH is so "pure".

I'll admit I am kind of not in the norm, but still....
>>
>>2983781
Well this is an interesting perspective I hadn't heard before.
>>
>>2983778
The modern definition of homosexuality is pretty narrow, I can imagine a guy could enjoy reading about romantic male/male relationships without being into the sexual aspect. Kind of seems to be >>2983781's deal.

>>2983781
>Yuri stories are even worse to me, they're just sex.

A lot of Girl's Love is really fluffy and relationship-focused. You've just been reading the sex-focused stuff. Just like BL and het stuff, there's romance-focused stories and sex-focused stories.

If you like "pure" love stories with two guys, try The Heart of Thomas or No. 6.

What are the most popular gay ships out there?
By this i mean the most known by the mainstream public pairings, either canon or with strongly implied/very possible gay outcome.

For example, i think kawoshin fits this perfectly, it's both a popular series AND with good implications about homo.
While, say, naruto x sasuke, is fucking popular too, but is just fan-wanking with no reason behind it aside from "they are hot".
>>
>>2983976
Izaya x Shizuo
>>
>>2984038
>Shizuo
Hooks up with a girl later, doesn't he?
>>
>>2984039
I only watched the first season.
>>
>>2984038
It's not that popular though is it? I think Kawoshin still takes the cake for popularity, it pretty much started the whole craze with gay shipping and is still really popular today. Also, like you say, Naruto/Sasuke is popular, and Gon/Killua gets some attention too, although that's often as a joke about how gay they're written rather than fans actually shipping them (although there's that too).
>>
>>2983976
I was thinking Kawoshin before you said it, I don't think you can beat that since it goes further than just 'implications'.

>>2984129
And I was about to say Gon/Killua as well. I think at the very least most people ship their friendship pretty hard.
>>
>>2984131
I wouldn't think friendship counts as shipping, I mean it's pretty obvious that they're friends. I think though between people actually shipping them and people shipping them to make fun of how the author seemed to make them gayish, they're probably right up at the top.
>>
>>2984133
Yeah you're right, I'm just thinking that their relationship is a big draw for fans whether it's friendship or more. I feel like most people would be pretty shocked if either ever got a female love interest.
>>
>>2984134
True. I mean personally I just like their friendship and that's one of the big appeals of the show. I don't think that's at all restricted by sexuality/gender either, most people I think enjoy the show for their friendship.

>>
>>2984784
I actually like those two as well, but she seems so happy with Shinra.
>>
>>2984784
I remember thinking she would be better with Shizuo when I watched the first season. I don't like how Shinra essentially trapped her into the relationship either.

>>2983976
I can't really think of another gay ship that's both strongly hinted/canon and also really popular.
Nezumi and Shion is a recent one that has some popularity and are canon but nowhere as popular as some fanon couples. Another recent one that was strongly hinted was Goto and Masayoshi but nobody watched SamFlam. Or going back into the 90's I guess there's Touya and Yukito but while CCS has always been pretty popular, the fandom of the pairing seemed pretty small to me.
Closest thing I can think of is Kotetsu and Barnaby, has some teasing in canon (and at least the authors kinda support it iirc?) and is extremely popular
I guess most fans just prefer fanon couples so they can have more freedom for their fanworks?
>>
>>2985726
Rather, fanon couples often have better written relationships in canon than a lot of actual canon couples.

Take Touya and Yukito for example, while not poorly written, they're never a focus or fleshed out, Yue getting a flashback and that's about it.

If creators took popular fanon couples and made them canon, they'd probably still be popular, and in some obscurer cases more popular.
>>
>>2985726
I don't know, Gon and Killua seems strongly hinted much of the time.

>>
>>2985733
Is it a ship if it's yaoi?
>>
>>2985734
Anon cited nr. 6 which is yaoi, if you go by the western definition of the term.
>>
>>2985735
I mean yaoi as a primary genre. The relationship is sort of a side thing to the main plot. Things like JJR focus mainly on the romance and sexual side of things. I mean I think the difference is someone saying that they ship, say, Buffy and Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as opposed to Romeo and Juliet in Romeo and Juliet. In one, even though it's canon and a big plot point, it's not the whole show, and in the other, the main plot revolves around two characters who are obviously and unambiguously in love from the beginning and are the focus of all relationships in the work of fiction. Kind of a weird example, just saying that I'd say No. 6 is a sci-fi anime with a gay relationship, whereas Junjou is a gay relationship with some side points.

This. And since most male-male couples hail from a genre that apart from a few very good titles is still plagued with weepy ukes and big-ass hand creepy semes, add rape, add fluffiness; it follows that slashing mainstream couples can be more interesting than investing in clichés.

And then you have things that are shamefully playing with the BL fanbase while remaining canonically 'straight' and when done right it can be way hotter than most actual gay stuff and will also have more of a plot to boot.

>>
>>2985726
Having seen all these posts, I've got to say I disagree. Most hinted at pairing actually seem very popular. You have the obvious followings of the big yaoi/shonen-ai series like Junjou Romantica, and the smaller ones like No.6, so most shows that have canon gayness have following for the ships. And then things that have hinted gayness that clearly isn't canon and probably won't be like Hunter x Hunter and Kuroshitsuji get a fair bit of popularity, and even things with not much strong hints besides the occasional fujo bait like Naruto still become hugely popular. Really I think whenever the author/director puts any amount of subtext in the ship becomes quite popular, it's just that in reality there isn't a huge amount of canon/almost canon gay characters.
>>
>>2985737

I think that creators enjoy hinting at couples because that is what the fandom has been all along for decades, people drawing conclusions and attracting interest based on their personal role playing. It's like table top stuff or gaming, a sort of mental workout combined with the hormones of youth.
>>
>>2986118

This is how I prefer things. I find most canon romances in the anime/comics/tv/movie medium to be hamfisted or tagged on, but shipping bullshit? Sign me the fuck up. It's shameful how much more mileage I can get out of a series because of it.

I'm having a pretty hard time finding anything with little boys being close with other little boys, but not in a sexually explicit way. The best I can find is Hunter x Hunter. Everything else is either porn, terrible artstyle, one of the boys looks like a girl, or the story revolves around a boyxgirl relationship/harem there just happens to be one other boy hidden in the support cast.

If you're looking for a manga that develops the bisexual angle then you might want to try Koi ga Bokura wo Yurusu Hani.
It's about two guys who are very much in love with each other, and know it, yet both keep girlfriends who are actually very relevant to the plot.
The manga goes in depth into notions of 'acceptable' love between males (seen as 'koi') as opposed opposide gender love (seen as 'ai'), hence the title that roughly translates as 'The Limits that Desire Allows Us'.

If I remember correctly only one of the guys identifes as bisexual but since both seem enjoy het sex quite a lot it is difficult to see them as actually gay.

There are a lot of spastic moments and more than once I wondered just what the girlfriends were thinking as they actively push the boys together but it remains a rare case of exploring the characters' fluid sexuality as opposed to just mentioning that a character is bi and then never exploring it.
But it is most definitely BL.

I always wondered if there would be a real "bisexual harem" manga/anime series where both girls and boys (normal boys, not just a trap, but one would be nice too) were prospective characters. Probably won't happen though, no demographic. There's always Yamada!

A lot of the time in BL it's just "oh I'm straight, you're the only exception". I know bisexuals exist sometimes, but a lot of the time it's just that kind of thing. My guess is that it's to target female readers who are the main demographic. This way you can have them believe there are guys like that who are primarily into girls, yet also have the hot guy on guy sex scenes that they buy it for.

It's not just that, it's to highlight just how strong the romantic attachment is. The idea is that even though someone is straight they still manage to feel so strongly about a person of the same gender that it overides sexual orientation.

Another example of a character that is probably bi is Kyouichi in The Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese and the sequel. While he never actually identifies as such (and oddly enough despite doing a lot of soul searching as to how he 'turned gay', it never crosses his mind that he may be bi) he has been married before and has only dated girls before Imagase who actually is gay.
>>
>>2987606
You've got a point, I imagine that the strong romantic attachment is a part of it too.
>>
>>2987606
>It's not just that, it's to highlight just how strong the romantic attachment is. The idea is that even though someone is straight they still manage to feel so strongly about a person of the same gender that it overides sexual orientation.
Anyone else hate when that happens. Idk its just unrealistic and weird. It feels like they think is more "pure" and special because they are only gay for each other
>>
>>2987589
>"oh I'm straight, you're the only exception"
I think that type of story is more interesting and has more potential than just making the character a slut or a militant SJW bisexual with rainbow hair or sthg.
>>
>>2987677
It's a BL trope used so girls don't feel rejected while they're reading gay stories that they only like because they feel too threatened by other women to read straight romance. It's often paired with the uke that's just a girl with a penis.
>>
>>2987677
You don't have to make it a militant SJW pansexual otherkin, just don't make it such a thing he's all moaning about how he's an exception or how he's only ever been attracted to girls before. Just have him be attracted to guys and girls the whole time, and not make it a plot point that he's only ever been attracted to this one guy. I'm not a girl though, so like >>2987679 says, the main audience is girls and they like this shit.
>>
>>2987637
I do not like it either but I realize it is a frequent trope. Personally, instead of being so concerned with 'purity' or whatever, I'd rather there was a greater focus on the consequences of being openly gay. It is a bit surprising that we do not see more of it, actually, as it could make for great melodrama.

If the author is so bent on showing how 'special' the love is then have the boys go through some hardship over being gay. Granted, this could easily derail into 'them evil straight folks' but if done right would add some well needed realism.

There are some series that kind of match what you're talking about.

There's a one shot called "Cherish" by Yoshizumi Wataru. The main story is het romance but the heroine has two dads. A large part of the plot is that she believes she was dumped by her boyfriend because she has gay parents and therefore has issues finding someone that'll accept her and her family. It's a sweet short story that treats the subject respectfully and there's a lesson on homophobia that isn't too in your face.

Then there's "New York New York" by Ragawa Marimo. It's follows the relationship of a closeted NYPD officer and a man with a troubled past. It's heavy with dark themes like rape, child abuse, attempted suicide, homophobia, and even includes hiv/aids. Sometimes it seems a bit melodramatic but overall it's a pretty realistic series.

I also like Fumi Yoshinaga's "What did you eat yesterday?" Cooking is the main focus but it gives a fun view into the everyday life of a gay couple and also a peek into the japanese gay community. Nothing too serious but again one of the men is closeted to the public and has parents that try to be supportive but are still uncomfortable with his homosexuality.

It makes sense why more stories don't have those sorts of things happen, because it's usually too heavy. I even know some guys who get pissed off at how too much RL gay stuff they watch are all tragedies and just want some happy feels instead.
I've also noticed some BL makes everybody somehow gay or just make it totally normal and accepted, because less drama. If they want drama they can add in some hot rival or something like that, so they can keep the romance angle going without it getting into feels bad man territory, even if it's cliched

On the bisexual thing, I've known guys firsthand who didn't even consider they weren't totally straight until they met "that one guy". Of course once they do they sometimes branch out a bit and expand their horizons, so that'd be nice to see too

>>2987771

Those sound pretty awesome, I'll get to them
>>
>>2987781
I don't know, I like it when they make it normal and accepted as I find the type of drama that happens otherwise is boring. It's pretty dumb when they make everyone gay though.
>>
>>2987771
I know that such series exist, I've even read myself, but I wish there was more of it. It does not in any way have to be the main focus or preclude a happy ending, I just find it much easier to feel for a relationship that is at least somewhat realistic.

A good example is No Touching At All where Shima's sexual orientation has caused him some grief in the past.

Even stranger is when the manga goes halfway and has or of the MCs freaking out over people finding out and/or angsting about how wrong same sex attration is only to have the entire cast being not only super supportive as gay as well.

>>2987781
I know of a rare counter example, a Korean manwha in which a lesbian and a gay guy end up hooking up after being rejected by their former lovers. It is not BL at all but it's another case of characters suddenly going against their previously established and self-idetifying sexual orientation.

>>

What do you considering long running?

I'm assuming you've read Saezuru Tori wa habatakanai. I can't push that enough, but right now we're only at 18 chapters for that.

I also like viewfinder, but definitely for the smut factor - like I picked up pink gold 1 and 4 specifically for the viewfinder chapters. Also Akihito is really adorable.

I don't know if you've read it, but Honto Yajuu is pretty long running (I think it's still updating though? But it has a lot of chapters out and scanlated) and depicts a relationship between a yakuza and a cop. It's pretty lighthearted with cute art and comedic elements, so it may not be what you're looking for. I enjoyed it, sometimes I need a light and fluffy dessert after I have my main course.
>>
>>2988771
It's not bait, not for me at least.
I never asked for recs though, always picked stuff according to my likes and dislikes. For example I dislike Honto Yajuu >>2988797 because it's extremely dull, the characters don't stand out to me at all. I prefer light and fluffy that's still interesting like Junjou in its comedic scenes.
>>
>>2988645
And it's not just the comedic scenes... it's every scene that's woven well with the rest.
I don't do dessert after main course. I want everything and I want it good, awesome and perfect and the manga here >>2988645 are the only ones to achieve that.

I recommend the manwha Happy Ending. It is very dialogue driven, perhaps a bit too much, even, but the relationship is truly beautiful. It takes place in a not-too-distant future but tones down the sci-fi angle to explore character interaction instead.

If you're looking for something serious and a bit different from the usual then you may enjoy this one.

The only really mainstream canon/almost canon gay couples seem to be Shinji/Kaworu, Kotetsu/Barnaby (so obvious even the OP/ED bands knew they were contracted to write "passionate love songs" from the main pairs' POV) and the one-sided Griffith/Guts. Gon/Killua are sort of up there, but they are kids, so it's not taken very seriously.

Omairi Desu yo, or A Blessing on Your House

The main couple's relationship is so healthy and realistic. I'm so fed up with plots (or lack thereof) that are over-dramatized with stupid characters making stupid decisions, or some convoluted, completely unnecessary situation just for the characters to have sex. I want an actual story that gives room for the characters to develop, which rarely happens in a one-shot, and if it does, it leaves you disappointed and wanting more story. I understand that some may have a fetish for being taken advantage of, but I find myself dropping a BL series more and more because of a character being sexually assaulted, usually on the first go and rape or molestation being the foundation of a relationship.

I want to see a relationship develop in healthy ways with drama that helps the characters build upon themselves, and stories like that are rare in the BL world.

I am completely in love with Omairi Desu yo because every bit of sexual connection is completely consensual and relies on the growing relationship between Yuuji and Saburou. They treat each other with utmost respect, even without dialogue. The way the mangaka handles emotion through her art alone shows their love modestly through simple, caring actions, like a sweet glance during a serious moment in the story's community.

TL;DR: Omairi desu yo: A sweet love story between caring, consenting young adults that realistically builds upon their relationship rather than thrusting characters into a wild, messy sex-romp.

I started this recently and am really enjoying it.

But am about to propose something completely different, Caste Heaven. It is truly messed up, taking place at a school where a hierarchy is decided via a game and the position of king is absolute during a particular round. Needless to say this leads to rampant abuse.

What makes it oddly compelling is the mind games that develop between the former king, who falls to the very bottom of the ladder, and his former underling who is now the king. Instead of being the typical uke who just doubles down, the MC sticks to his guns and tries to turn the tables around.

It is not for the faint of heart as there is a lot of rape and emotional conflict but well worth reading for the twisted psychology.
