i use rapeseed oil because the flowers are of abundance in Britain and they are very pretty.
I use it for pretty much everything
is this a meme oil?

that's so wrong bro.
rape culture must be stopped
It's pretty good, has high smoke point , neutral flavour and doesn't afraid of anything.

If anything its the opposite of a meme, it's a very cheap oil frequently used for high-volume frying.

Do Americans really call this "canola oil" because they don't like the word rape in their foods?
>>9415417
I heard that the story there is half true. The way I heard it was the first American brand of the stuff was called canola and other hacks stole the name. They didn't protect their copyright and now it's the common name.

Huh! Interesting. Never knew that. Tisdale, Canada has my favorite welcome sign.

Really enjoy cooking with it meme or not.

Yeah, the Canadian rapeseed growers association rebranded it in the 70s.

Rapeseed/canola oil that is generally available is extremely neutral in flavor and has a high smoke point. It's good for sauteing and frying if you don't want any flavor from your cooking medium. The orange-colored cold-pressed stuff like in your picture is a finishing oil, it's got a really mellow, sort of nutty flavor and gives a really nice pop of color to dishes as well.
