Just got a dutch oven.
Is it okay to put it on the stove to make a potroast and close the lid entirely over it? If its not venting, wont it explode like a pressure cooker?
Someone explain this to me, google isnt helping.
If it got to the point of exploding, it would push the lid off, moron.
that's a moka pot, not a dutch oven. not recommended for potroasts

Physically, the lid would rather bubble up than blow off. Whatever uses less energy is preferential

The steam will just slightly lift the lid and vent out, it wouldn't be useful to have a valve unless the lid locked in place
Like a pressure cooker
the lids don't seal all that well. excessive steam gets out at the lid without spraying a jet of broth out sideways
brap hahah :D
kys immediately

It's fine. The steam lifts the lid up a millimeter and some steam comes out the side. You'll hear a slight rattle occasionally.
i am worried for future generations
