quick question /ck/ need an answer fast. is it safe to put ceramic plateware like pic related into boiling water? it says its dishwasher and microwave safe on it but I don't have a dishwasher, so to sanitize this bowl I want to just dunk it in boiling water for a minute. Is that ok or will it shatter?
Yes
Boiling water won't sanitize your bowl, though.

Won't boiling water kill all bacteria and viruses? what should I do instead?
>inb4 extremophiles that live nowhere near kitchens
op here i dunked it into boiling water anyway and it didn't shatter so i guess it's safe
still not sure how boiling water doesn't sanitize things but whatever great meme

Not the other anon but, why not just like I don't know use soap and warm water?

get some star san or something to wash your shit with if you're a real germophobe. but warm water and washing will do just fine. you won't get foodborne illnesses from a not-sanitized bowl

Soap can miss spots resulting in further contamination. If you need to be absolutely sure, bleach solution immersion or boiling water are the best bets.
It's the soapy lather that kills the buggers.
op here i'm calling it contaminated cause my roommate "borrowed" my bowl cause he was high and wanted cereal and couldn't be bothered to clean his own fucking dishes
he has herpes so i need to make it as clean as absolutely possible so i dont get herpes, which is why i thought of boiling

Don't take the chance anon, just pitch it and be done with it, there are millions of replacement bowls out their anon.

this. Herpes is a virus and viruses are hardier than bacteria
