>>9351361
Heart, liver, and gizzard are what some people consider edible, but I would just give the entrails to your disposal mechanism of choice.

>>9351361
Either make some gravy or chicken broth.

How are your butchering skills? If they're shot its best to just clean it and roast it
>>9351638
Pretty good. I just dug my hands in there to get rid of the entrails.
Has anyone seen my pet chicken, Mr. Cluckers?

Rule 1
Never name your food.
I wish MLP wasn't globally banned
>PUT YOUR DICK IN IT!
>>9351274
beef bourguignon is better than coq au vin
>>9351243
im looking at that pic trying to figure out how the chicken was killed. usually their heads are cut off, right? was this one strangled or something?
>>9351983
interesting. so you cut the throat and let them run around until they die? that seems like fun. i wanna be a farmer now.
Why do people sell things like this with the head still on? They've already cleaned and dressed it, how much more difficult is it to chop off the head? I lived in France for awhile and they almost always sold whole rabbit with the head still on; do people actually do anything with the heads? (Fish is obviously different.)
>>9351243
is he ok?
>>9352002
I get rabbits and chickens with the heads on sometimes and i'll chase my daughter around the house with it yelling 'im coming to get you!'', i don't think she likes it much, but she'll have fond memories when she's older.
>>9351243

>>9352002
Eat the head
>>9352021
yeah he's just sleeping
>>9351990
You hang them upside down, cut their troats and then they die. Leaving them to run around would be kind of messy.
Still, the best method is the one my grandmother used:
>Take live chicken from the neck
>Spin it around once of twice, emphasis in the downstroke
>Now you have a chicken with a broken neck
After thay you hang it, put a bowl under it and cut its head to drain the blood
>>9352027
Chuckled
>>9351971
According to my relatives the most common way to kill a chicken on my great grandparents' farm was to grab it by the neck, just under the head, and crack it like a whip to break and neck.
Fresh? That looks dead to me :/
>>9352423
Implying she'll have the money
>>9352820
My grandmother:
>take live chicken by neck
>spin it around
>neck breaks
>she keep spinning
>body flies off head, arc of blood paints the ground
>she cackles like a madwoman and takes it inside to fry up
They were made of stern stuff back then.
>>9352866
I have heard people do that to geese, but a little differently. They grab the neck under the head and swing it in a circle
>>9352866
I tried this with a pigeon once, its body fell off and I was left holding the head.
>>9351274
beatiful pic anon, will have to try it one day
>>9351274
Seems so time consuming but so simple. Fuck. I need to make this next.
Deep fry it then post pic to KFC Twitter and complain
>>9351243
use the wings to cook other land creatures
>>9352515
How is it ?
>>9351243
bake the chicken and make a broth with the rest
>>9356122
If you tried chicken feet, the meat is like that.
The brain is good tho.
>>9353287

>They were made of stern stuff back then.
My grand father used to punch rabbits in the head to kill them in one hit. He had a mean jab.
He also seemed to enjoy himself very much when he had to kill 20+ in a row to go sell them to neighbours or others.
Thank God for the digital revolution.
>>9351243
Make some Hainanese chicken rice, personal favorite. Especially good if the chicken is very fresh.
>>9356699
Thank God for betas

In places where heirloom breeds are a thing having the head on the bird lets you recognise the breed you are paying for. The clarity of the eyes the freshness and the tinge in the wattles the health of the bird.
