Maybe not. I feel like this all the time, have for the 7 or 8 years or so. As I've gotten older, I just don't have the stomach for overly-sweet shit. I get bloodwork done every year, certified diabetes free.

Yes. I cut sugar from my "diet" completely. Sugar and solid saturated fats are all I avoid.

The primary symptoms of diabetes are increased thirst, hunger and urination, not mental issues.

Furthermore, diabetes is not specific to sugar but rather interacts with all dietary carbohydrates equally. Sugar is 50% fructose which is not immediately glycemic and so actually more suitable for diabetics than other carbohydrates.
