Rice cooker is much more powerful than a crock pot. Also has an auto-shutoff function that stops when the rice is done.

Best brands: Zoojirushi, Panasonic
Good value: Tiger, like Pic related, is pretty much the standard model. There are knockoffs of varying quality.
Shit: anything that has a lift-off lid like a normal pot does. You want one with the hinged locking lid & gasket.

Poke holes around the potato with a fork, it lets the steam escape. The texture will be a little different thana a baked potato, but it's still perfectly good.

Sweet potato works just as well, make sure to stab it with a fork a few times and wrapping it in a damp paper towels helps keep it from drying out.

If you don't get a rice cooker, a crock pot isn't terrible either, they make very tiny (like single or two serving) sized ones.
